Wow! What a brilliant result in the riding horses. Front page of horse and hound last week obviously didn't work! Well done Vanessa you deserve it!

Wow! What a brilliant result in the riding horses. Front page of horse and hound last week obviously didn't work! Well done Vanessa you deserve it! Is there really any call for that comment? No one has ANY sway over what H&H put on their front cover. I suspect Vanessa won't thank you for being associated with that sort of comment on an open forum. She is gracious, win or lose - perhaps you could learn something from her.

does anyone know if Jess Nevin and Bengad Rumex were placed in the A&B M&M's? no, not placed Judging was just awful today, although I thought the champion went lovely and more naturally than when Sam rides it so well done to her. In my opinion the highland that won was extremely overweight which is a concern when societies are clamping down on fat ponies! I heard several people commenting on this. Couldn't follow the results at all, there was no consistency in type and good performances were not really rewarded. I wouldn't even say it was facey, it was just completely random and it didn't seem to matter how you went. It is refreshing to see new names in the line-ups, although I have to say that many of the 'big guns' were not placed and I didn't really understand why as lots of them still stood out for me, above those who were placed. Just my opinion of course. Also, I hope the girl on the A that was kicked by the bolting dartmoor in the small breeds is ok. Congratulations to all that took part today - it took some real dedication in that weather, I think I am only just drying out - good excuse to spend lots of time in the tradestands buying stuff though!! ;D

I dont know if many foresters qualified and were there any in the line-up. I dont think there was one in the first six, i dont recognise any of the names as being a forester.

Well I agree with mentor - it was very bad form to have such a smug-looking photo on the front of Horse & Hound and to suggest that it should win; however nice a horse it is and however brilliant the rider. I also think the trend for riders/handlers etc to comment on their own horses or ponies is farcical. Comments such as 'he is a wonderful horse and goes so beautifully' or ' he is the best thing I have ever sat on' etc. What nonsense. These people are not likely to say anything detrimental about the horses they either own or will sell on! Vanessa is not associated with that comment anyway. Sirius is a fantastic horse and that is what the HorseGossiper was saying. It is quite okay for 'mentor' to say what they like, within reason. The tone of your comments is most patronising and offensive.

Sorry but until you have sat on this horse or actually know what this horse is like, other than what you see in the showring, i dont think you are in a postion to question what its owner has to say about it. I am in no way connected to the owner or anything but i do know what it is like to ride this horse and how this horse is & i agree with every word his owner said about him. He doesnt need to be on the front of H&H to win, this horse wins on his own merit not on what is written about him, and anyone who has any sense can see that. Again, i am not a producer, or in any way connected to sirius or vanessa, i just know that this is one superstar of a horse and would've won whether he was on H&H or not.

Have just been informed by my (far better informed!) daughter that no foresters were forward and indeed none were catalogued - the one I thought might be a forester was a bay connemara....shows how much I know!!! ;D
