I am glad that so far the comments have firmly been placed at the judges door, and no remarks regarding the connemara's win directed at owner or pony as it is certainly not their fault they won!!!!!! The blame has to lie directly with the judges! If the pony has done an awful show then it should have been marked accordingly and perhaps it has, we all wont know until we know the marks, perhaps the conformation judge gave it a huge mark in comparison to the others and perhaps the ride judge only marked it down a few marks?? But I do hope the remarks keep to the judges and not to the competitor or pony. When i looked at the marks the winner of the nf/connie class got the highest show mark! It really didn't deserve it!

Really? What a shame at a show of that level, when you don't do a good show or make a mistake in the go round you don't deserve a placing, however much you love the horse in front of you. The ride judge is at complete fault she should have been judging way of going and left the conformation up to Mr. Sharpley. I really hope that isn't how she think's a pony should preform. There were many good ponies in that class placed lower, or even walked out of the ring with nothing who had performed mannerly and correct shows in very difficult conditions, it wasn't like there were no other choices.

I got a brief look at the marks, Honeyman won with a total of 94 he got the highest conf mark of 19. Second had the highest jump mark of 19 but not very good conf to finish on 89 and Jade finished 1 behind on 88. Jumping marks ranged from single figures (think 8 may have been the lowest) up to 19 and she marked some clear rounds lower then some with just a pole. Hope this helps ;D

As a producer myself i would not take on a pony if i felt it was not capable of winning i think you need to look harder in to a producers world

Excellent pony to win it, from a pony that came from nowhere and had all the family working on it as they could see it had potential, he deserved it.
As they say they 'winner takes it all' and he will take HOYS aswell, without the need of a film crew

Why is everyone so bitter about who wins. At the end of the day don't you think it is up to the judge who wins, you can have a complete nutcase of one or you can have a decent judge who can spot a good pony when she sees one.

As a producer myself i would not take on a pony if i felt it was not capable of winning i think you need to look harder in to a producers world I think the same is said for many home producers, your always look for a horse with the potential to get you to the very top. And the "professionals" would do well to remember this, because the rank and file make up the numbers that give the shows the finical support they need to continue. With out us there are no classes, look at the riding ponies in hand that became just pro's. It's the perfect example, show's don't want to put those classes on any more because of a lack of numbers. The difference between a home producer and "professional" is that they will have one maybe two good horses in the show ring, a pro should have a stable yard of them. All we ask for is a level playing field and in the case of Hickstead a level ring!

Brock Lodge Buster won the NF/Conn section going really badly, the second pony spooked in his gallop and came round again to do it, so what can I say. This is the report that i have had from the ringside. Lots of people not very happy. I agree - Stallion that won was IMHO absolutely stunning but should not have got such a high ride mark, it napped and spooked 2nd placed pony slipped - did not buck so therefore I think it was ok, to let it off!

I was wondering (only because I like the pony so much) how Sam Robert's connemara (the one owned by Henriette Knight) got on or was it not forward? Spoke to Sams mum the day before - it was definately not coming forward for the class

We all know what is going on,bent judges, producers who know they are going to win under them.We all know, but why slag off the winning ponies and thier little riders, where does it get you.It is the judges that need sorting out,but I realy do not know how.Producer Guest, not all producers take on top ponies, when thier owners fail to qualify them ,you see them with a producer and guess what they qualify.

My daughter has been training hard to represent her team at the BSPS Young Judges Competition at the Champs this year; I will not let her read these threads because it makes a complete 'mockery' of what she is being taught!! We all have opinions about judges and their judging but we all come back for more because it's something most of us love doing, but why should we have to put up with this blatantly 'Bad' judging at this level? Do we just sit back and take it? Surely not, but what can be done about it? Just to agree with others, I have nothing against the pony or it's connections; this is concerning the judging only and big Congrats to all who were in the placings this year!!

Thanks everyone who has said well done to us but i can honestly say the standed in that class was excellent 10-15 ponies could have won i was just over the moon to have got into the final line up. As for the film crew I DID NOT ASKED THEM they contacted my sister to do a programme on little children riding, to be honest i felt a bite silly with them following us everywhere but a 7 year old thinks it great so its all the kids enjoying. I am not knocking the judgeing at all, like i said we got into the final what more could i have asked for. I am genuinely really chuffed for heidi, trac & little laura, jake looked lovely & went lovely on the day so well done to them I am good friends with all of them so please will you all leave us alone & enjoy our success, hayley
