Having competed in the section b class on wednesday I cannot agree about the judging being facey. We took a home bred junior mare by our own stallion and her colt foal and were 2nd in the mare class and 1st in the colt foal class. For us that was a major acheivement and we are not a face just people who love the breed, and find it a bit upsetting that people think it was all fixed for certain people. We as non producers have never had such good results.

All over the place. Well done for getting through and staying placed - because boy did she swop and drop!!!!

The Welsh Part Bred that won the cuddy was another stunning animal. I was standing next to it waiting to go into the prizewinners parade and just thought "Wow !!" before knew it was the cuddy champion.
Anyone know how it is bred ?

Swop and drop can be an admirable trait in a judge! not afraid to say " well after close inspection" and she is closer than any " ringside armchair critic" who cant see splints, spavins, cow hocks, sickle hocks etc etc - so from where you were standing it doesnt really count does it! - you werent judging, you werent close up - she was. Courage of conviction and all that. The phrase "facey judging" well yawn.

Lexy this is Dot with Saith Dk I wish I would have seen you I would have liked to have said hello, we were there with our friends Abbie and Debbie. Yes Abbie with Ren the mare you like so much. She did do very well and we where all so overwhelmed with the day, it was fabulous. She also did very well in the hoys class. I shall leave all the tail to Abbie, Im sure she will tell you about it herself, don't think she comes on here or very little so will tell her to have a look, she will be so pleased.
Well done on your stallions third place, he is stunning, but I knew I liked him before seeing him there today.
Well done to everyone who competed, especaily in all that mud, yesterday was horrible but today thankfullly not much rain and some sunshine. We were sat on the hill by the main ring in the sunshine in the later part of today, lovely. What a view, wow loved it.

Where do they get them from, Dierdre Chambers must be 80 years old. Probably not mentally or physically capable of judging the RW, and she will definitely be looking at the wrong end of the rope. Also, if it's true what someone said earlier about the stallion licence, probably not a good choice! Remember the fiasco a couple of years ago at the Winter Fair when they had to replace the B judge at the last minute because she had been found guilty of cruelty !!
They need to get younger judges, cannot praise last years A judge, Phillipa Owens, enough. She was quick, decisive, stuck to her type and I never heard anyone moaning - best judging I have seen in years.
I am more than qualified to judge the B's at the RW, and would give my right arm to do it, in the 'extremely unlikely' event that I am ever asked I'll probably be my 70's and too old to enjoy it!

Yes it is true about the unlicensed stallion, we were never able to register the colt who turned out to be a rig anyway!!!!!!! He was advertised as stallion material and yes he is very good looking with a beautiful head but unable to be gelded because of the unfound testicle, so he still lives with us but has to be turned out on his own and his temperament although good most of the time can be unpredictable. Also a friend of ours who had a sec B stallion on loan from her found out it was unlicensed, fortunately before she used him on her mares!

We as non producers have never had such good results. First of all congratulations. I don't imagine anyone wants to take away your success, however you do have to look at the broader picture. Overall the judge appeared to look after four exhibitors. You were lucky only one of them was in the junior broodmare class. One has to say the ponies placed below first had to have been placed on their own merit. The only time she tripped herself up was in the senior broodmare class when she failed to recognise the exhibitors she pulled in fourth, due to them been heavily disguised in rain mac and hat. She did, however correct her mistake. Then there was the connections with the handler of the stallion. I, along with many others feel saddened by the way showing has gone in general.

Surely you people who think the Section A champ was a terrific mover cant think that was normal "Welsh" movement !!!! Totally artificial.
