I have never commented on a judge on this forum before but I must say that the M&M judge was completely bonkers!!! The steward had to stand with her all the time to help her!!!! The first thing she did when a pony came in front of her was put her hand to its nose to sniff!! she then procceded to feel legs, necks and mid sections. Ponies that had won silver welsh medals were at the bottom of the line, her winner in the young stock looked like a welfare case! and the winner of the large in hand had a splint, and a capped hock!!!! One person just took her pony out of the collectin ring and put it back on the wagon rather than take it in the ring.

After watching the large hack class i was a bit confused really. I have a young hack which i am hoping to bring out next year, and having spent alot of money on lessons and schooling so that he can give a great show and ride, i was shocked that the winner was mis behaving on the go round, and then proceeded to go on the wrong leg in it's show but still won.? can this be forgiven if the others did good shows and behaved?

I am sorry you thought this about the hack winner. Whilst you are entitled to your opinion, it would be nice if you had outlined the full facts. It would also have been nice had you had the courage to put a name to your post if you felt so strongly that the outcome was wrong. We own the hack in question - well my sister does. Just to clarify, the hack was certainly NOT naughty on the go round. You may not have appreciated that she lost a front shoe in canter. The ground was wet and sticky after torrential rain, and whilst many of the animals struggled, Lulu showed her beautiful paces throughout. Further whilst she did strike off momentarily on the wrong leg in her individual show she is only a four year old and Robert corrected it immediately. She then went on to give a fantastic judge ride. The judges are both very experienced and "straight" and neither would have put an animal to win had it not deserved it. Robert and Sarah did a wonderful job yesterday with Lulu.

Legalchick, I saw the hack classes - yes your hack looked the best horse in the class imho, yes she did go a little novicey (only to be expected from a 4 year old especially if she became unbalanced losing a shoe). I personally thought she gave the ride judge a much better ride than she gave Rob. (We have a 'Whalton' and have found he prefers female jockeys to men.)

i personally was delighted with lulu - she is a 4 year old with very few miles on the clock, and she has certainly never been on ground that was as sticky as yesterday. yes she did strike off momentarily on the wrong leg with rob, but this was quickly corrected and the class was clearly judged - as it rightly should be on the ride, which incidentally was superb. The writer who commented that she was naughty on the go round may i think have confused her with another bay with a star that was extremely naughty on the go round. Lulu faltered briefly as she lost her shoe but apart from that shebehaved impeccably - if alittle green. in the championship she went superb and belied her years- and trust me after the eventsof the last nine weeks i was avery delighted-if slightly emotional owner!!!

I also watched the hack class - I thought this was judged very fairly, showing isn't a DRESSAGE TEST and a young horse shouldn't in my opinion be dropped for a wrong leg. The winner went exceptionally well for the ride judge in my opinion, and its conformational and quality is exceptional.

I was at the show yesterday and did see robert walker riding the injured girls horse, and yes it didnt go very well and it should have not have won. When a man of his exprience was riding you thought it would have gone better and certainly better for the judge. I no that its only a novice but manners still count especially in a hoys class.

i agree - manners do count ....... however I think people get too hung up on a wrong leg . I would rather see a quality animal with good conformation that has a minor wrong leg ( ie quickly /easily corrected ) above an average horse that didn't have a wrong leg. I am obviously not saying the other horses were average, as i thought the class was strong with many good animals. However in my opinion (I watched the whole class and have no links to any of the animals) I think the winner was a well deserved one .

Come on all of you - give us and Lulu a break ! After the events of of the last few weeks it was inevitable that everyone around the ring was watching for ANY signs of "naughtiness" in the horse to justify the accident ( I am sure that even Robert and Sarah took a deep breath before entering the ring), but the reality was that Lulu took it all in her stride and despite losing a shoe on the go round managed to give a a good show and an impecable judge ride thus winning the class. There were many more "seasoned" horses who were unable to cope with the ground and in my opinion gave a less than impecable ride. Lulu is stunning and has the most amazing movement. She also gave the Judge a fantastic ride. That is what a hack is supposed to be !!!
In the championship she fully deserved to win displaying impecable manners and outstanding paces.
Don't forget that the horse will have also been affected by the events at Staffs county.
Well done Lulu /Rob and Sarah !!!

And why call a judge bonkers. Everyone has their own opinion about what a good horse is and there is only one good horse and everyone owns it!

Well said CC I was just about to post more or less the same. What a shame a few nasty people have to have a dig I'm sure Caroline and her family have been through enough recently without having snipes made about their horse, still I'm sure they won't let a few bitter 'guests' spoil it for them, well done Lulu and team, I'm sure all who have been following your progress recently will be genuinely thrilled for you
