Congratulations to Caroline & family. The judge thought Lulu was a worthy champion and thats all that matters.
All i can say is you throughly deserve it with all the hard work and determination you have all shown over the years.
Enjoy your outing to hoys and good luck!

I for one watched the class, when a horse loses a shoe in a ring especially a 4yr old this can upset them as the balance in their feet is altered, the winner coped with that situation fantastically and proved to many have already thought - there is a HOYS winner in the making. The quality it exhibits is second to none. a fantastic looking horse that is going to mature into an even better looking horse - remember folks you are critising a four year old that has been produced until recently by an amateur. If I am not mistaken this was Rob's first outing on her - the ride at home and at a show are different. Now Rob has ridden her in a class he will undoubtley have learnt a lot from this. Judges do ask the age of a horse for reason - this is to excuse any minor upsets if the horse has caught their eye and is young. On this occassion I would have no faults with the judging. Having been under them in the Cob class and placed fifth I felt the judging was fair honest and correct. So please lay off and congratulate the family - they have a had a terrible time recently show some support and congratulate them.

I'm sorry but i agree with clipetyclop and mardy. In an OPEN HOYS class a wrong leg should not be forgiven, in a novice class yes!. I have read all the postings, and yes i am pleased that the horse has qualified for you after you have had such a horrible time this year, But maybe as a few have said it went a bit green etc, they are looking at it from a competitors point of view and alot dont get forgiven for that. It is though dont to the judges discretion, whether we feel it's right or not, it could be debated forever.

topjock - can I point out you are breaking HG rules by using 2 different names on the one thread. Your IP matches with clipetyclop and it's not one of the more generic IPs so I'm afraid you are caught out.

So basically whoever you are Clipetycllop/topjock you seem to be out to cause trouble.
I am happy to believe that everyone has the freedom of speach, but please at least have the courage to post under your real name or identify yourself.

Since when did a wrong leg EVER cause a major problem in a horse class? Horses have won HOYS that have wrong legged it - it is not the greatest sin. I would rather a wrong leg than a horse going incorrectly. Oh - have you (or your "friend) yet apologised for muddling up the two bay horses in the class? No, didn't think so.

I think you echo most of our thoughts Coloured. I, for one, will be rooting for Caroline's hack at HOYS and if (and that is a big if because I wasn't at show so can't comment) they got a smidgen of luck on Saturday, well crickey I can't think of a family who don't deserve it more than they do.

according to the website the judge was; Mountain & Moorland Ponies (In Hand & Ridden) Miss S K Lawson Thanks, Barbara- I have been under her before and agree she is bonkers, never again! Take it with a pinch of salt you know you have lovely ponies! HOW anyone can come on an open forum and label a senor panle judge as bonkers is beyond me - just who do you think you are??. Just because she didn't like something about your horse does NOT make her bonkers - just means she sticks to what she likes. I have watched Miss Lawson judge and we have been judged by her and I think she did a very good job. It's little wonder that more younger judges aren't coming through to go on panels when people just bit*h and gripe about everything. You go for an oppinion and you get one. If you don't like it then showing really isn't for you!

Well done Caroline and all concerned with your horse Lulu, we have had many a heated debated on here over a wrong leg winning a HOYS class. The fact that you have only had a couple of people who arnt happy shows that as a whole the majority of people have compassion and everyone wishes you well. It must have been a real tonic for you all to watch your mare win and go Champion wishing you all the best at HOYS.

In my opinion for what its worth no one should have to justify their placings on their horse. At the end of the day its the judges decision. Well done to all concerned.

Come on all of you - give us and Lulu a break ! After the events of of the last few weeks it was inevitable that everyone around the ring was watching for ANY signs of "naughtiness" in the horse to justify the accident ( I am sure that even Robert and Sarah took a deep breath before entering the ring), but the reality was that Lulu took it all in her stride and despite losing a shoe on the go round managed to give a a good show and an impecable judge ride thus winning the class. There were many more "seasoned" horses who were unable to cope with the ground and in my opinion gave a less than impecable ride. Lulu is stunning and has the most amazing movement. She also gave the Judge a fantastic ride. That is what a hack is supposed to be !!! In the championship she fully deserved to win displaying impecable manners and outstanding paces. Don't forget that the horse will have also been affected by the events at Staffs county. Well done Lulu /Rob and Sarah !!! Delighted for you all

That was a huge hurdle for Lulu to cross and the miracle is that she did it with knobs on. Well done to all the team that have helped get this lovely mare back in the ring and good luck to you all, you deserve your place . Having read this thread again,I frankly cannot believe that anyone would have the gall to come on here and say anything negative about the hack result. Sometimes I despair of the human race. I surely thought this was one thread that would unite the entire forum in joy and delight at the small iota of compensation that this result brings to a fantastic family who have shared their trauma and their humour with us all and given us back a little faith in humanity. Shame on you, whoever you are, you surely are in the wrong sport and no I don't know Caroline or her family. Sorry for the rant but oh dear.

well clipetyclop and topjock - why not give us the name of your "young hack" which you are "hoping to bring out next year, having spent alot of money on lessons and schooling so that he can give a great show and ride", I am sure we will all watch with interest.
Thanks everyone else for your support .
PS I do have the class on video !!

Hear Hear, well said Piper.
I am shocked and disgusted at the way some people respond to results threads - even, it seems, when the horse and family concerned have been through so much this season.
There seems no boundary to how low some people will stoop when criticising other peoples much loved animals. Perhaps they should turn their attentions onto their own horses and put as much effort into producing them as they do to slating other peoples!
I cant wait to see Lulu under the lights at HOYS and I know Cas and family are and will be very very proud of her

Hear hear, am absolutely delighted for Caroline & family. Lulu is a stunning example of a large hack & am absolutely sure she'll be a hoys winner at some stage, if not this year. Some people are just jealous of people who have class animals & it's such a shame after all the family have been through that people can stoop so low Caroline, Meg & Legalchick, I wish you all the luck in the world at HOYS, you deserve it more than anyone, & of course Rob, Sarah & Lulu

I saw this horse in the championship, I also spoke to Caroline and her sister and mum, the horse looked amazing, so did her mum Caroline, they were filled with joy at her win, and so they should be. Carolines life will never be the same again, her life has always been her horses, and to see her there watching brought a tear to my eye, but what brought home how brave Caroline is to me was when I asked her how she was? do you know the first thing she said was not 'oh I'm fine' no she asked me how my daughter Claire was!!!!!! What makes me so angry is that people (nice word) come on here and slate the horse, well all I can say is that over my many years of life, I have learned and seen 'what goes around, comes around' shame on you, I hope that it makes you happy to slate and bit*h. Oh and by the way, if I want to pass comment on a judge I will, I do so not hiding behind a guest name, just google Phnom Stud and you get my name!
