Dear Ivansmum, In no way did I have a go at your Daughters riding, I thought she rode very well and got a good tune out the ones I saw her ride, however our fella is a tricky customer and I was stating my shock at the fact that we were confronted with a ride judge when many ponies in that class would be under 14.2hh. Haribo Sorry forgot to say thank you for your nice comment, she rode over 100 horses in 2 days, a lot fitter than I am. You comment regarding size is interesting, about 10 years ago PUK first introduced ride judging into the pony classes, firstly the Show Hunter Pony classes and then later the M&M Kingsford Ridden, right from Shetlands up!! They source their ride judges from the star riders scheme, peraphs this is and idea in some form you might propose to Midarc? If you look on the PUK web site it has a page for star riders, and they also get special classes at the champs.

Following on from Ivansmum incorrect assumption about who I am - can I just clarify Bryan that it would appear from your posts that you also think I am someone else (maybe you were given a name by one of your supporters?), I wasn't on the showground at all at the weekend, neither have I helped you out over the years. I agree that it doesn't matter who anyone on here is - if they have a valid point then it should be considered/taken into account no matter who they are. Just as a final note - Bryan, there is a big difference between resolving issues to the satisfaction of both parties & just ignoring the points raised & giving irrelevant answers until the author gives up but I suspect no-one is really listenening to what has been said. Dancer this is beggining to get like a stalk, please keep to the thread and the essance of the folder topic, you obviously knew what I disagreeumption was to you identity to conclude it incorrect, a friend of your peraphs?

Dancer, Actually, I was not refering to those complaints that have been subsequently resolved and when read properly it is quite clear that it is only those that mr shear is referring to - my comments were more directed to those who had no specific complaint but expressed more of a general, unprovoked personal attack on the Championship and the Midarc committee members . However in view of your reply, do i take it that the likes of yourself, Randolph and Badgerewoo etc have now also contacted mr shear directly to air their grievances?? If not your reply is surely incorrect and merely an attempt to belittle my views.

well having read the comments on here i would just like to say there are a lot of sore losers and bad sports amongst them. royal london is £15 per class £80 per stable plus iss membership, then the fuel and transport to get there. You don't get rossette's with your name on there iether. So put the sour grapes in the bin and if you didn't win try improving for next season instead of whining about it on here. Is there any need for some of the nasty comments written on her as if it weren't for the likes of these people what local shows would any of you do, it is a thankless task trying to please everyone. Bsps and Puk wouldn't care if you went or not to their shows as they don't cater for the average competitor therefore you should all be aplauding and supporting the local shows and not attacking them just because today you didn;t win. I would Agree with the comments re charges, i don't think you should pay to go into the indoor arena and i think the car parking should be reduced to a couple of pound, other than that we had a brill wekend so to the organisers keep up the good work and we will be back next year

Ivansmum - you raised the issue of identity, I just pointed out you couldn't have been speaking to an old employer of mine & yes it seems you did assume I was a fired of mine but that is irrelevant.
Horseworld - I have no idea who has or hasn't contacted Bryan, can only apeak for myself & go by what Bryan has put on here.

we went for 2 days and 3 ponies for the first time this year. we were pleased at how it was run, the rings were a good size, a nice covering of grass and a good atmosphere. It was also good to see some top top show ponies there that had been to BSPS the week before and won championship classes.
to me MIDARC is for everyone - from starting off in showing to the seasoned amateurs. Classes ran to time and where there was a change then it was notified. The stewards were helpful and polite. There was a parking attendant who was very rude and i for one asked him to stop swearing in front of alot of children. He did seem to atagonise everyone. However, i appreciate taht these people do it in a volunteer situation and am grateful for that.
One point i would make is to make the horse walkways pedestrian free and certainly pram and pushchair free. Another is to keep the cars away from the horseboxes - a separate parking area would be good to make rrom for more boxes and trailers.
we will be attending again next year. There are people in all levels of showing that wont attend some shows and wont go under some judges. Its personal preference. Friends i have spoken to who did attend had a good time.
Well done Bryan and Pat - i dont know either of you at all. A big well done as well to Emma for riding a huge amount of horses and taking the time to give feedback to all of the riders. I have seen Emma ride at shows and also at clinics she has attended and at all times she has been a quiet and confident rider very much capable of riding anything. Some horses have quirks but it takes a good jockey to ride them

Thanks for your comments Emma
I have had a long discussion with the parking steward, i think its our fault for asking him to be on duty for such a long period, so sorted for 2010. However will point out that the abuse that was given to the stewards was diabolical and totally uncalled for, we have restricted space, especially this year, so hopefully it will be easier next when the reseeded areas come back into use for us
Again, we tried to make the walkways pedestrian free, but the signs disappeared first thing saturday morning and were found behind the toilets on Tuesday, but appreciate the comment, and has been noted
We did try to keep the cars separate but had to give up in the end as we are back to the abuse again, it appears many people think they should park where they want to
Hope that helps and points noted

why do people moan so much, I was at royal london and was dissapionted I was not reserve supreme but whoppie, I will not slander the judge and I will go back, people need to understand we all like different things and I supose we think our ponies are great, even if there not. I show at local level with my young 4 year old pony and because I have won alot this year , I have found a negaive feed back, even though I have supported the show for many years, this does not go into consideration, get over it, you all need compertion to up the game as so do I, but I do have young children and lets remember its them that ride and they are in the ring too. my children have been placed in differnt positions in the line up, but they have put the work in and its all paying off as a good pony helps alot too. if you are down the line up there is usually a reason

yes, it was Bankswood Imagination, they qualified at Croft Top when I was up there, funny enough the In Hand supreme was also for there. Welsh was nice, but it could have between a couple of them, but the Bankswood Pony was outstanding, now you all know what you have to beat, I understand its for sale if some of these gossip sites are to be believed

Would just like to say how appalled at the comments on this website. The midarc commitee are very helpful and always friendly at the local shows, wihout them we wouldnt have a good standard of unaffiliated shows . Tbh I think alot of your comments are pathetic and like you say some of you didnt even go , so how can you make these assumptions? The midlnd championships was a really excelent weekend, how can you possibly compare it to royal london its in a completely different league. I would like to see you try and organise a big event like that. At the end of the day every judge is different if you dont like the way they judge , dont go under them again.

I have just read the comments on the X Factor and I cant understand why so many people are bitter on who won. Surley if you read the rules it did state that in the shedule that it was going to be judged by 4 judges (just like the X factor) and then it was going to be put to the public to vote. So surley the winner was the one they wanted.

My word!!!!!!!!!!! Only just found this thread and am amazed at "how the world turns"!! Being in the firing line of organizing Events myself I can somewhat sympathise with Mr Shears position. "You Will Never Please All The People All Of The Time"!
We at the 'Best of British' ran qualifiers for the first time this year and were delighted that two of the qualify'ee's (is there such a word?) did exeedingly well by taking both an Inhand and Ridden Championship. We were pleased and delighted with the response we got from announcing 'Midarc' qualifiers. We will DEFINITELY be issuing them again!
For a so called 'Sponser' to try dictating to an Event Organizer about affiliation's strikes me as 'dictatorialism' and no matter how much money they were putting into the Event, would be told where to go by the 'Best of British' team!!
Character assasination is only too easy to conduct on here! To do it anonimously is "gutless"! We were dissappointed not have made it to the championships this year. Without witnessing these incidents it would be unfair of me to be Judgmental BUT, to whinge on here and not have the base decency to do it in your own name with an identity behind it is childish, cowardly and ultimately smacks of 'sour loser'!!

Suecoeden I agree with you that these people are gutless if they cannot put there names to the comments. The few that have winged and moaned about the show, show that there is no sportsmanship, or is it because they were beaten by a younger rider who won the X factor. These younger riders should be encouraged and not discouraged.
If all of you out there who are winging about the show and can do better feel free, as none of you are brave enough to put your names to the moans (only bullies hide behind something) then why don't you lay off to the people who have put their time and effort into the show for all to enjoy, these also include the judges and competitors.

How very interesting this is, having been to Equifest, Midarc and Royal London, my opinion is that whilst all the shows are excellent, value for money it has to be Midarc. I have managed to be at most of them over the years, I think I have missed about 3 and they are getting better and better. Yes, I think they should have showers, but I understand that is being sorted for 2010, and I dont mind paying a little extra on my entry fees for this facility. Yes, I think people who are not competing should pay for parking, not sure about the argument regarding paying on the night, do think people just visiting should pay, so they do have to get that right for next year We can all moan about the judges, but generally they get it right, I didn't have a very good show, but I got the placings I deserved and accept that, and by the way Mr Shear, stop hiding your lamp under the proverbial bushell, you are one the best judges in Midarc and around, and whilst I have never been judged by you, I have watched and must say very impressed, lets see more of you out and about in 2010. I also notice that many of the remarks on here are from people who didn't even go to the show, so how can they pass judgement on hearsay. I notice the remarks about senior judges, but they didn't help organise the shows, and I suspect did very little judging within Midarc, so what point are you trying to prove. Its the same people organising and running the event as it has been for some time, and whilst you dont have to like them, you have to admit they make a good job of it, so it does appear that those 2 senior judges are not being missed at all, perhaps thats what the problem is Finally, to that little group of people who are associated with or connected to a certain yard in Worcestershire, my suggestion is either go back into the fold and enjoy or stay out but shut up, you are not doing yourselves any favours. I did see some of you standing on the ringside and you looked thoroughly miserable, you should have been competing, thats what the show is there for. Keep up the good work guys ;D

Ladybird37 - I assume your comment about the yard in Worcestershire is aimed at me as I am the only one that is on this forum but I wasn't at the show so you couldn't have seen me at the ringside. And why am I not doing myself any favours?
