Ponies that are 12 hands or under tend to have a lot of native blood in them!!! Thoroughbreds tend to be a little bigger and therefore do not often appear in 12 handers pedigrees! It would be interesting to look at the breeding of the most successful 12 handers (a lot of native blood I feel) and if seen in the rough wouldn't they also look very different? (like natives?).......... I think so!!!!

jandf - lovely head (not too ponyish), good front and reasonable limbs and bone, not a deep enough barrel or big enough bum, but I expect you will tell me that she has won SHP classes, so - each to his own! Is she quite young? If so, perhaps she will develop more with maturity. I still wouldn't mind taking her home, tho!

Thankyou dun4u ;D Yep Ive won a few classes with her at local shows, Nope shes not young shes about 13 now lol, I must say she has put on a bit of weight and gained more muscle in her bum since these photos ;D

That's more like it! Suprising what a bit of muscle and top-line can do!

Interestingly there is a pony posted on this thread that more than a few RPJ included has had to win more than once and in large classes. And is not everybodys cup of tea so it goes to show that everone is different.

Do we have a name for the pony and perhaps who has posted the picture??? If I had it to win then it must be good!! Seriously though pictures often don't do justice...... there's go round, performance and conformation!!! No apologies if I thought it deserved to win then thats why it did!!!! People on HG are very quick to pass judgment without being in possession of all the facts!!

IMO you judge what you see on the day and are not influnced by what you have seen. Even after having to put up with a certain grey 15shp who cleared the ring at PUK Newbury one year as he did not want anyone else to be in HIS lineup He gave a good show though ;D You didn't hold that against him.

Hehe thanks joy ;D You know I love lilliepie She is looking like a smaller version of Folly at the moment as she is clipped again and she is going beautifully. Glad ponies cant read and dont have internet access or she would read this and knowing Pie would start to not comply!!! ha ha xxx

I am interested to hear whether this pony fits the bill. She's a 15hh 4 year old, she's not being shown, she is a PC pony but I have always wondered whether she would mature in to a SHP.

I think she is lovely.Defo HP type. You need to show off her front but very nice pony. I would certainly give it a go esp as she is still so young and could fill out even more. x

Would you consider this 12h childs pony to be suitable for SHP classes if we trimmed and plaited? Thanks Cor, my photos turn up all over the place lol! I agree too welshy. But very nice! Can you put him in m&m classes? She's not a pure bred Welsh - not even registered as a part bred. So IMO shouldn't be in M&M classes. She is however a fantastic little jumping pony, would be a great WHP. And I've said all along she'd look fabulous plaited up as a hunter pony.

Looks very welshy in that piccy Nici !! we had one who was clearly welsh but, was not registered as such, such a shame as he was stunning!! he did however do very well in shp classes!! too well for my liking as he was welsh as it gets!!

Me too ponymum! lol, when we bought ours, we did not show, so did not matter he wasn't reg full sec A, then, of course we got into showing, couldn't do mm classes, other than local, so plaited him up, judges loved him, he had such a welsh head, revel lines on his dam side, beautiful, but far too pretty, for want of a better word, for shp classes!!
