Great show we had some good results but this year I did find the judges not very profesional at all the show pony judge never watched many competitors I was watching her from outside and I would have complained if I was in the ring. I shall not be returning unless the judges are chosen a bit more wisely the running of show was good this year too. Well done to everyone

I quite agree with Dollypardon about the judging thie year,I was told by the Judge that my filly certainly had the wow factor ,but he felt it was a bit young ,the filly was young ,four and half months, You can tell if you have a good foal when it is born .So if a judge wont put a good foal up just because it is young and puts an inferior one up instead just because it is older then he should not be judging

Surley its a foal show and as long as over minimum age it shouldnt matter just because one is slightly older, in these days and times of us not being asked to rush and oerfeed youngstock, it should be the quality not the size or the age Im not expert but you can tell a good foal !!!!!!!

I agree its quality not quantity.

Are we being led by a judges decision, to over feed to get size on foals and youngsters ? Its rather naughty considering recent campaigns about obeicity in horses, judges need to set an example and put down the line fat or fastly grown youngsters, i fed my foal well but balanced and he was quite large naturally for a section a but not at the expense to his health he was well rounded, Judges do need to start setting an example !!

I agree with you Doylan you have taken coloured champion previous 2 years and this years filly was gorgeous no wonder your coloured stock are prolific winners worldwide. But foals should be judged as foals

Totally agree Doyan and Pink Ponies, we to often see foals who have obviously been pushed on and not allowed to mature and be foals. Judges should judge what is in front of them. Some foals may have months between them but should all be judged on the quality, conformation and movement equally!!

Thank you for your kind comments, much appreciated. J'Adores Gift is by Blewins Gift of Liberty (Monty) ,Humdinger's half brother. She is full sister to Doylan Anuska's Gift. I am sorry to complain about Judging ,I know its a thank less job ,but if anyone judges its their resonsibility to do a good job of it . Showing involves a lot of hard work and expensive. I have never openly complained about judging before ,but that does not mean I haven't gone back to the box and screamed in private .I would not have said anything about coming third , its the judges decision and I will except it; thats what showing is all about --some you win ,some you lose . But what, pardon the expression really "peeed" me off was the judges comment that she certainly had the wow factor ,but was "bit " too young .It was a foal show !!!!!!!!!!!!!. Please judges ,just don't comment

Re Condition of foals, I agree totally that foals are foals and should be fed and treated so! we all want our youngstock to have a future and overfeeding and over excertion at such a young age is detremental. Here is my boy (elmdale eduardo) who took reserve supreme of the show, he was born in may and spent just four weeks stabled before living out in a luscious paddock with his mum untill weaning time! yes he was rugged when needed, and yes he was regularly handled, but most importantly he was also given time to be a foal. Well I wasn't there and can't comment on the standard of judging or whether or not his/her comments were appropriate but I personally would not show a 4 and half month old foal as I would think it a bit too much pressure physically for a young baby but that is just my opinion.

Milford Filigree is still going strong and looking really well at the grand age of 21yrs .She has produced a lovely palomino colt foal this year which has been retained as a future stallion .I have retained all her daughters at stud and I have been delighted with everyone of them. Good luck with your coloured stallion I am sure He will produce super stock from your blood lines. Fiona

I think that we all have good and bad days when it comes to showing, of course I am over the moon as it was my coloured filly that won the under 14.2 section and went champion. Of course we all love our own and think we have the best, but she pulled out am amazing trot and think deserved her placing. I have been going to the foal show since it started and took res coloured champ back in 2003, coloured champ in 2004 and coloured champ and reserve supreme of show in 2005, and coloured champ again this year. My foals are treated as foals and are never over produced to do one show. Poppy, this years coloured champ has lived out until 4 weeks ago, has had no special treatment or been over done in any way, shape or form, she is a lovely foal with I hope a good career ahead of her. Her dam took 2 champs, reserve supreme light horse champ and reserve supreme of show at this show in 2006, and her sire is fab, she is a little star in my eyes and if she never does as well again then so be it, but she deserved it on the day.
