Just wondering about the rider of the winning Dartmoor in the HOYS qualifier.. I noticed she was wearing show pony jacket and ribbons, maybe a result of classes clashing i wondered. But I have just seen this pony and jockey again on the Real Time Imaging photos at Staffordshire County Show in M&M Ridden class, and the jockey is again wearing show pony gear. Surely both cases cannot be a coincidence? I was just wondering if natives in navy jackets was going to be a new fashion - maybe to make the pony stand out more? It definitely worked in this instance!! Are you sure its not one of those navy tweeds with the red/orange overcheck pretty sure its not, just checked the pics on RTI again - in case it was me going mad!!

I cant believe how obvious bob T is waving towels round and going standing next to ponies in the line up before they have even done there show so the judge knows which pony he is with its just sad!! if thats what he has to do to get the ribbons.... he did it with all the ponies he had at solihull!!

I completley agree with what your saying. If they are that desperate to win then so be it. does any one know what won the MnM large breeds, just the normal bsps classes, open and novice i was gutted because i couldn't go and the judge liked mine. Typical. Thanks.

They changed the judge for the BSPS open to Mrs Caroline Whiteley. In the 'hairies' two D's were at the top, all the heavier breeds down the line. In the novice, a bay sec C of Carole Isaacs won its class, a chestnut D of Vicky Hesfords and a nice grey connie, not sure what it was, also won their sections. Champ was the connie, with the D reserve.

does anyone know who the photographer was? If you know please can you put it on the photographers thread. Thanks we were a bit disappointed with the ridden M & M results as badly going ponies were highly placed. My little darty qualified for the RIHS though in the FR which we were over the moon with as this was his first attempt

Sounds as tho there are some extremely jealous people out there! I watched that class that hesket willow won and it was definately well deserved. he looks fantastic and went the best in the class....... regardless of who put him in the ring!!

Mrs Whiteley is a super judge and has produced all sorts of ponies on the flat and as workers since long before most of you started competing. She knows how a pony should go and is extremely fair. Perfect swap.

Perfect swap. So why did she judge our Highland & put him last because she thought he was a bad example of a Dales!!! She shouldn't be judging M&M's at all if she can't tell the difference!!!!!

::)That's a sin! Is your pony black, by any chance? Seriously though, did she look at your pony's head at all, cos that normally gives the game away? Go and give your pony a great big hug, and try not to think too hard about the not inconsiderable entry money, diesel etc., etc..

:-XNo accounting for it then, except the judge was correct in one respect - your pony is indeed a bad example of a Dales! All the best next time out.

just told my husband of the judges mistake. He quickly replied "but dales have ribbons in their tail, even I know that". Oh I did giggle!! He has only started coming around to the shows this year!
He cannot understand why the judges arent made to provide reasons as with the stock judging. Can you imagine the chaos this would cause?

For all those people that have too much time bit*hing on this site., and making comments before knowing the facts???
1. The jockey in question that rides Langfield Nightcap was pulled out of the rihs 12.2 sp class which is why she was in a blue jacket, the M&M ring was waiting for her so no time to change jacket. The jockey made her appologies to the judge who commented back to say it was ok and it was the pony she was interested in not the jacket !!!!! we were not trying to stand out.
2. The same thing happened at staffs county when both classes clashed. Can you not have more than one pony.
3. The said bright ribbons have always been worn and her tweed is navy blue with a red stripe going through it which we have had for three seasons now.
4. Get the facts before you comment. The judging was very fair as ponies were moved around including Tyan Tudor Prince that came up from 10th to 3rd place.
5. How sad to look on websites at other people ponies to see what they are wearing, have you not got ponies to ride / school or have they already got their HOYS tickets !!!!!!!!!
6. The judges were not bent in the Dartmoor section and the Connie section as been under one of these judges before who has had the said ponies down the line before. this should be inspiration for home produced people that you can win, and if you have to be in it to win it .

Heskett Willow goes beautifully with his previous owner on board she really gets him going nice, as she does with most she rides. So stop moaning, we all know the happy people are the ones with the tickets...

I agree with you. I don't think people have an issue about him winning only the fact that BT felt the need to be so obvious - it's a shame as it takes away the achievement of the pony

My pony got a decent pull did a foot perfect show has always stripped well and yet was dropped out of the placings so because of that i have to say the judging was a b-l-o-o-d-y disgrace
