I must admit that I certainly hope we never meet that judge - yes some of the local judges are very interesting to watch but local shows definately have a huge need for people who's ponies may not be the best types but who are loved by their owners and have good points - yesterday at a show was not the best type of pony but the child was enjoying herself and the pony did it all asked by the child and that is what is all about at local shows.

why did the bto have to do a show? strange indeed I have on occasion at a friends show, drawn the short straw and had to do the thelwell and prettiest face classes etc, the first time I said "what do I do?' She said to pick the one I liked but let them all do a little show so they thought they'd had a fair crack of the whip even though it was totally irrelevant to my decision, and their pony was'nt very pretty in my eyes. It just keeps them happy, and coming back was her reasoning, and bless 'em they love the classes, and love doing the show, theres always 10+ in the ring. Theres no harm done.

Armada, that's fine if it keeps people happy but in the ridden BTO she just checked the tack, pony, rider (as she should have done in the in-hand aswell), that's the amusing part!!!

the one class I avoid like the plague is the fancy-dress, if I do get roped into it find the best thing to do is look first at the mothers, the one that looks like she has a good right hook wins and then run like hell from the rest.

i'd rather go into a boxing ring with tyson rather than judge a fancy dress class! the thought of it makes me reach for my medication!!!!

Fancy dress is the one class I don't relish judging. A couple of years ago, at our Hunt Show, I had Jenny Pitman judging and Rory Bremner taking part with his children. That could have proved amusing, to say the least!
Most of the entries have put such a lot of work into their costumes tho a few don't seem to have bothered too much. The worst part is not actually recognising what they are supposed to be, so I get my steward to go ahead of me and check first. Lol
