These are all the same person, also know as sophie blanchett and penny mccarthy and probable many more names!
I think all my horse gossip friends need to be aware of this member and not buy anything from her by bank transfer !!
Unfortunately she is a dishonest horsey person that as soon as I paid started to change her story , deleted her post and keeps changing what method of delivery she has used!
She asked me to pay into her sisters bank account and said she was called poppy Eastwood , said her name is penny and that she lives in Leeds but is expecting so has numerous horsey items for sale!!!
She has lied to me and I never received the items!
I hope no one else bought items ??

We have deleted this member's advert after being warned it could be a scam. We explained this to the member by PM and she did reply to say she understood and accepted it. At the moment, we have no concrete evidence that she is a scammer, but there are a few things that don't add up. We have changed the settings in the for sale area so that now only those members ranked junior and above can create adverts. Hopefully that will help us to avoid a similar situation in the future.
Can I just reiterate though that we have said time and time again that members should use Paypal where possible to pay for items as that is the only way you can secure protection. If you have to make a bank transfer, then perhaps you should ask for some kind of guarantee or reference from someone who has already bought from them.
Our classified section is extremely busy and the mods do try to do what we can when something goes wrong, but transactions are ultimately between buyer and seller as they would be on many other site that offer advertising.

We got done for 620 quid yesterday and the police just don't care so taking things into our own hands it's the infamous poppy Eastwood,,,, Google her there's plenty of info!! She uses names of penny McCarthy poppy Valentine ans poppy Eastwood

Sadly there are a lot of con artists in this horsey world (not tarnishing everyone with the same brush though!!) but there are some dishonest people who have the gift of the gab and being gullable we trust these people and they will do anything for money, and lying is their favorite past time and they don't care who they hurt as they go along, GREEDY PEOPLE after every penny,
sorry rant over, I hope you get yours sorted, but remember they have no morals and probably no shame!!!!!
Hugs to you, and people who do this the wheel will catch up with them in the end

I don't understand why the police aren't interested when this seems to be such a common occurrence. Until some form of action starts being taken, this type of scam will occur again and again.

No she's from orpington in Kent I have her mum's address who claims she knows nothing about it and she's been seen regularly driving around sidcup and driving a black mini I'm half tempted to go dowhen and drive till i find it

Is it worth any of you getting together (not literally) and writing to one of those crime solver journalists - either tv or newspaper? There really do seem to be a LOT of people scammed by this person and I know I've already said it but I can't understand why police won't get involved

My local police just didn't want to know at all had to go through action fraud to get anywhere it's peein me off that nothin is being done and there's are hundreds of people this time how can they not track her reg? Her phone? Her ip? It's not like there's a shortage of contact they just don't want to know!!

You've probably seen it already but on twitter there's someone under the name of poppy Eastwood and her twitter name is @poppyvalentinex and there's pictures of her on there so it may help in warning people about her x

I'm afraid it looks like she is at it again under the name of Kirsty Laws... Using the same mobile no. mentioned above! And under the horse gossip user name of Kirstyshadow
I have just reported her advert for Hayden and Samantha saddles from the 28th Aug to the mods. Please, please I hope no one has sent her any money!
I pm'd her on the 28th asking for details about the 15inch Hayden and gave her my mobile no. and email. She quickly sent a pic by email from kirstylaws22@outlook.com and confirmed by text the very reasonable price etc - and said she need to sell everything quickly as she was moving away....She was based in Manchester?
I agreed to buy the saddle, she would arrange courier and we would speak the next day for PayPal details. I duly called her the following morning and she said that she would be using yodel and that she would text me the details for PayPal account.
Then, here is the exchange of text messages:
Kirsty:
My PayPal isn't updated so are you ok to do a bank transfer - will get courier sorted today.
Kirsty:
Do you 100% want it only as I have a few others interested.
Me:
Yes definitely want it please - just horse gossip only says to pay by PayPal for protection purposes so I need to follow this - I am happy t o pay extra £25 or so for the charges but do need to pay this way pease - are you able to do this? I will then do the PayPal later this afternoon for you. Thanks

I haven't got access to PayPal Hun at the moment and I'm going away tomorrow so need it sold quick plus PayPal will take 24hrs to verify as mine is a business account, let me know what you want to do?

I realised things weren't adding up as the text messages progressed and was so sure it was a scam....but was just trying to confirm this so that could let HG know...
This evening I have just read through this thread and noticed the same mobile no used by this this person - and now everything makes sense! I am so glad I didn't part with any money and really hope no one else has....
I m sorry to hear about your stories - Crazyhorsewoman and welshvali - I have all messages saved and if you need anything for evidence to police etc please let me know.

Thanks Hobo, sadly I did also get a PM from another member so it looks as if she has caught out at least one person with this username too. I have locked the advert and posted on it and I hope this is the last of it. I hope those who have been scammed are able to get some form of redress - I'm still aghast that the police won't pick this up. She must have defrauded people for thousands of pounds by now. |
