I'm sure that doesn't work as the persons name, sort code and account number has to be correct, for a bank transfer to work !! Nope name doesn't have to be the same If this is true then it is the obvious way that banks ad finance institutions can help close a loop hole, make certain that the name ties in with the sort code and bank account, I would imagine that this would also prevent mistakes from happening, afteral it is merely adding another line to the data base, not a complicated operation

Just make sure if you have contact with this person that you get her account details then report them. The latest Halifax account should be easy to close as they already know what's been going on.
We've always known she was watching this thread, she gets lots of "buyers" from this site!

She may be watching the thread or it may be her yucky waste of space friend (why would anyone even want to be friends with her?!!) from the fb group (Jade) who showed her true colours by being a nasty b**ch to other people.
The fact is that she may think she is having the last laugh now but in reality she is going to be the one that ends up with no life. With fraud charges she will never be able to get a mortgage and struggle to get a job (not that she wants one clearly!). So she is going to be the one that ends up even more of a low life drugged up mess than she is currently with no future or prospects. What goes around will most certainly come around!

She has obviously got fakes ID's or is using other peoples accounts. I recently changed one of my bank accounts, same branch I've been with for 20+ years, even some of the same staff, I still had to provide ID even though they know me and have done for years and Im usually in at least once a week.
The name doesn't need to be the same, for bank transfers all you need is account number and sort code. As has been said the name doesn't need to match up.

Hi Guys
Got had by the lovely Jemma Barrett 07858054619 this week. Luckily only by a deposit. I knew it wasn't right from the beginning but I think I just totally lost the plot lol! Santander is the bank she chose in the name of Mr J R Hunter. I think if anyone calls me hun again I may get quite angry with them. I cant let her get to me and if your reading this what every your name is today I have not had sleepless nights over you! You obviously need the money more than me!!!!!! I have informed the relevant people as suggested but I really do feel that there should be more information on the for sale and wanted page. The people she is hitting now still are the ones like me who only use this site very rarely. When I look for items to purchase or check results. I never come into this area as I just don't chance. Look forward to her downfall and remember if something sounds too good to be true it most definitely is!

To those that manage this site ..... is it possible to always launch a pop up that gives a warning when 1st entering the site - at any point ? If this could be done, then it could be the 1st thing that everyone sees - regardless of what screen everyone has stored as their favourite. Is this possible ?

I don't think it is - we already have a warning on the news bar but there isn't a way to create a pop up. In any case, can you imagine the buzz that would give this silly creature? She probably gets some sort of thrill every time she reads this thread and I certainly wouldn't like her to think she is in any way important enough to have a large pop up dedicated to her - this extremely long thread is bad enough! Please remember this scammer does not purely operate on this site, she has lots of sites she must spend hours poring over to glean personal details. We have sent a PM to EVERY member to warn them, and it is up to an individual whether they post their personal information on a site which is open for viewing to non members.

How many times do you or others need to be advised to either pay cash on collection or to use paypal? It is not Admin or the Mods responsibility, everyone has received a letter advising them about safe buying, plus there have been several warnings, not to mention this thread. If you are going to purchase via the internet make certain you pay via paypal or use a credit card if over £250, it is very simple.

Gillwales - your response has come across as slightly aggressive :-(
I work in IT and was merely making a suggestion which may be able to help - in response to the person who said that they rarely use this site - and may not have read their messages. I don't always sign in - as I am able to read threads without doing so - so I didn't read my message for quite a while!
Lesson learnt ....... stop trying to be helpful >>>>>> goes back into hibernation.

Gillwales - your response has come across as slightly aggressive :-( I don't think it is meant to be aggressive and it strikes me that it is frustration that comes across - which is how the mod team feels too. We have advised people to use PayPal for transactions for a LONG time and certainly long before this particular scammer came to light. If members choose to put their personal details on a thread, we are not going to stop that but they need to be aware they are running the risk of being scammed. Some people can be very quick to blame the mods when things go wrong, but it's often their own unwise actions which have caused issues to arise. You need to log in to post on adverts so all members have at least had an opportunity to read the PM BEFORE responding - if they decide to ignore our advice, then that is their choice. Please don't think any single response means you shouldn't offer suggestions - we are always open to ideas and suggestions to improve the site, particularly the security for our members, but we will never become one of those sites that has thousands of rules.

Thank you Guestless, you hit the nail on the head, I am frustrated that people, despite all the advise from the Mods, are still walking into these scams. I do also feel strongly that people should be responsible for themselves and not expect to be nannied by others. This is a free site and the people who run it do so in their own time for free, they cannot be expected to take on that sort of responsibility. I do know from personal experience, if you have any concerns that a person is abusing the site for financial gain, then report to a Mod and if you are correct they will deal with it.

I do feel as if the mods can't do anymore, PM was sent and there is a big banner on the homepage, there's this thread although I see bubbly you were only trying to help, there is not alot more they can do and HG are probably one of the only sites that is actually taking it to these measure to try prevent people being robbed of their money - Thank you all the team at HG for your help! xx

I had only read the thread a few months ago when its was in its early infantsy. so when I received a text offering me a fylde saddle when I hadn't ecen asked for one, arlam bells rang, I checked the mobile no and sure enough its was her. with a lot of ringin around I managed to get in touch with the fraud squad who represented HALIFAX who where very helpful and told me to pass on what to do. now there are a few of us who have spent time energy and money on phjone calls trying to stop her and get peoples money back. but to be honest im no longer even trying becauser people are so ungrateful and just expect the few to carry on doing the work that they could do themselves. when we didn't even get scammed. so im sorry if you don't read through things before you buy over the internet and get caught out

I have spent hours on the phone and going to see people and am due an update from one of the investigating officers on Monday and I will continue to be a thorn in their sides until she is nailed or - with a bit of luck they collect her from some squalid drug den having taken an overdose, in a body bag - best place for a bit*h like her imo, vile, evil and callous cheap very *friendly* person that she is. Can't wait to hear some awful fate has happened to her and sure there'd be loads at her funeral, if only to make sure she was gone for good and burning in the fires of hell where she belongs - someone better warn the devil though, that she will be extremely toxic and explosive due to all the fake hair, lips, tits etc, HA HA HA HA...............

Unfortunately I think I may be her latest victim! Lady using the name Miss SN Harris using email address Marvin Barrett has just purposely sent me a saddle in the post! I paid £100 deposit and I'm now thinking I can kiss that good bye! She used all the same terminology used above including Hun! Payment was made a week ago and surprise surprise No saddle or further correspondence has arrived! Lets hope karma catches up with her BIG TIME! Anyone had any joy catching up with this woman? And be warned all, she's getting clever, changing her name and using false email addresses now too!

I have had 2 messages last week through my email. From 2 different people telling me they had a fylde Samantha for sale. This could only be in response to an advert I placed on here over a year ago! Apologies if these are genuine sellers, I just thought with the emails being sent at 04.38 and 4 days later at 03.27 It rang a few alarm bells!!

Can I suggest that members may wish to look back at old adverts and delete their personal details from them if they have included them. She must be getting pretty desperate if she is looking back as far as adverts that are over a year old.

Beware everyone the poppy Eastwood scammer has just text me off a number that has not been used ppreviously and also saying they are from Cornwall, which I don't think has been used before as a location. I'm sure its her. Using the word 'hun' , says she is going away Friday and it is easier for her t send it rather than someone collect it. She was offering 17 inch Samantha and Hayden. She Magically had an extra wide, after I text back saying that a medium wide is too narrow for me. She also didn't have a side view picture, but then magically found one on her phone 10 mins later, which happened to be the same picture as has been posted on here twice. The number is 07864829524.

I went to school with her she was the year below me- doubt she's been arrested as police haven't been that interested in the case x Not quite true, as they are apparently making sure that whatever they do is 100% watertight, so that she doesn't get off as a result of something such as a technicality. I had a message from one of the investigating officers keeping me up to date and they definitely are interested, it just takes time as it is not quite as straightforward as it would first appear.

I'll pass the new details onto ActionFraud and also to the Police Officer who is part of the investigating team in the morning.
