Let's see how it goes. I am open minded, but do think it a shame that the SPs will be judged in their normal gear and the SHPs may look a little odd with the coloured browbands. Yes, good judges can see through things like that, but I do think it gives the advantage to animals you are used/expect to see in certain turnout. Even a small alternation such as navy coats for all, but plain browbands, might have made a difference?

And if they aren't to show any particular characteristics of the breeding, what the hell is the point? Its like holding a hack class, and saying it needed be a show hack, but if you go hacking on it, its eligible. i have to say i do agree with that. but pba classes have gone a bit that way anyway - they do not appear to be scored on arab traits/type. other people have commented on fancy browbands. coloured browbands can be discrete, they do not have to be big bright and sparkly. and most wear navy in evening performances, including hunters and m&m's so not sure why this is such a big issue. if you don't like the class, don't enter it. wouldn't get so upset about something that didn't exist in any fo only a few weeks ago. i have a 50% pba who is ruled out but fine, so what. plenty other stuff to do.

Surely the point in the breeding of Part breds is to try to pick up the best qualities of their heritage. There is no type with the Part bred, as it all depends what is behind the breeding.
There has never been a problem at the Cherif with SHP competing as Part bred Arabs, whether they are dressed as SHP or Show ponies.
Springtime, why is your 50% ruled out - is it the height?

I contacted HOYS as I too was quiet excited to have a PB class for my Coloured part bred unfortunately she is native in type this is my reply:
For 2014 the class is being aimed at plaited partbred ponies. The original concept of the class was to have a class for part bred arabs, and from there it has been developed as an important tool to help the plaited pony sector, which suffers in comparison to the M&M sector, partly due to the fact that all plaited pony classes are all age restricted. The decision was made to include the WPCS part bred register as there are a number of show hunter and working hunter types who will be registered as a part bred with the WPCS.
Dependant on the success of the class in 2014 we may consider extending it, but as you are aware there is very little space in the timetable at Horse of the Year Show so this will always be a consideration.
Kind regards
Sacha Shaw

So reading the comments i am bit confused no one bite my head off please.. I have a 15.1 Small hack/ISRT if we are lucky enough to have an over 14.8cm class in 2015 then my horse's Dam is Welsh Section D, Sire thoroughbred, If i am not eligible for the class not bothered as i still have HOYS Hacks and ISRT just want to understand what % it has to be over to be eligible for the class as could be something different...
Thank you.

According to the information issued by HOYS, both the part bred arabs and the part bred welsh have to carry 12.5% of the arab or welsh blood.
