Absolutely!! One of my favourites - and this year will hopefuly be there for 3 days! For me this show always heralded the start of the season everyone wants coats to be perfrect for Windsor! Nowadays though it probably feels like mid-season! Ncnaughty go for it and enjoy BUT be prepared for the very long walk to rings from horse boxes so make sure you take everything down with you!!! I nearly died of a heart attack having to run back last year!! Also the rings run like regiment to time so if entries are large shows sometimes have to be short - mind you in Lead rein that may be a blessing!!!! Lets hope the sun shines - Jago picnic is famous at RW!!

We went about 3 years ago and did the M&M LR so yes ... agree about the long walk - made longer by the lack of sign posting so we went the wrong way and had to double back! As Rebecca fractured her ankle and has only just got back on her relatively new pony, at the PUK and NPS winter champs we are only doing LR so I think this will be her first 'biggie' off the LR this year. We did the qualifiers for the winter champs but there was only 2 or 3 in the ring each time as it was just before xmas and the weather was foul. In fact it was at one of those shows that I decided that I wanted a lorry and not a trailer any more because of the torrential rain!
I have to say though that RW has the feel of a local show somehow, not sure why but I felt it was much more relaxed. We did awfully last time, poor pony literally lost one of his baby caps outside the ring (he was 4) and I had to mop up a bloodied mouth 3 mins before going in! Too stressful and it made him really unsettled (understandably) in his mouth.
Actually, you guys might be able to answer this one - the NPS champs - I entered on line and it didn't ask for my qualifying card anywhere. Do I make sure I bring it with me??

If you look on the NPS qualifying card it says you are supposed to send it in within 30 days of qualifying. That's what we did and sent the cheque to enter each final with the cards.
I loved Windsor as a kid, but haven't been a competitor there for a few years now!! Excited to be back this year with my daughter, it is such a beautiful setting & has a lovely atmosphere.

Hi mcnaughty don't worry about the 30 day thing but I would suggest you send your qualifying card off with a note telling them you have entered on line - assuming these are winter qualifying championships? I only send mine off two weeks ago and we qualified last year but they said that was fine - the full schedule has only just gone on line so hard to enter until you see it! See you both there with your very pretty ponies! On the Windsor front Chloe was always adamant it was an unlucky show for her - we had a few disasters as well! But then we won the Int SRT class 3 years in a row with our lovely Snip (Stanleygrange Puppeteer RIP) one year moving from last to win! So now we take it as it comes and just enjoy a lovely day out!

LOL - sorry, you are absolutely right. I do have to de-stress my show day routine. It does not seem to matter how early I get up I still rush and get stressed at shows. In fact, I went to the PUK spring champs a month or so ago and was flapping like a lunatic when I saw other LR teams much further ahead in their pre ring preparation - however I then noted that one of the teams had 8 - yes 8 adults helping get the pony ready and the other team had 6 adults! No wonder really. I wish I had a gang of grooms! At least now I don't have to worry about getting myself ready too as we have left LR behind us now. Thanks Caroline - will defo take that advice on board x On a connected note though - I hope they don't get stopped by VOSA or whoever do the weight checks now, because with that many bodies on board I would be extremely surprised if they were not over weight!

I came last with a little Lr pony i had many, many years ago. Was mad to take pony really, she was not windsor quality but had fab day out never the less. Chloesmum i think jago's picnics were famous wherever they went, yum yum, bless mrs J. Still think of those picnics every time i see french bread or boursin!
