Knee action which is high and flash. Im a ride and drive person.. True driving ponies should have good knee action but one of the welshies main charcteristic is its knee action but moving somewhere, not prancing on the spot!.. not floating across the ground with a low action! x

Love ground covering action from the shoulder - must be free moving. Don't like the exagerated knee action when the pony isn't going anywhere.

Its got to be both for me really! Action from the knee and shoulder. I like them to pick there legs up and throw forward with there shoulders to cover the ground, and of course a strong hock action too.
Some Sec C's and Sec D's these days have no action, neither knee or shoulder, they just look like they are plodding along dragging there legs.

I personally like both of these, but i hate to see a pony or cob with so much knee action that they dont go anywhere and seem to be trotting on the spot, my C moves very much from the shoulder....

Hi I am with Cyflawn and wow what a lovely c - I love it. I am at present trying to buy a full up section c for my daughter. Any ideas? Sorry back to poll - I do not like them to have to high a knee action and preferably to move like Cyflawns. We are into showing. Straight and flash.

A true to type c or d should have knee action then coming through from the shoulder to have straight leg in front, all this movement should come from behind making it light, i personally hate to hear cobs pounding around a ring and think these ponies should be marked down, my d although not the typiest moves correctly from behind with knee action but ground covering (not enough shoulder action really but we're working on it)

I like both together, i donot like the straight legged show pony movement or the knees up around the ears covering no ground at all - rolling knee action then coming through from the shoulder and covering the ground with an extension

Must power from behind, really using hocks and covering the ground.

I like Cs with reasonable knee action but for the movement coming from the shoulder. So the stride covers the ground rather than the tattie mashing movement. This pony has such a powerful movement that he punts the rider clean out the saddle.

lift and throw, flick up the toe! - nothing like a good, extravagant moving section c, a good one could beat any of the natives, got to be a pony though, not a small cob.

Perfect movement of a d in my eyes is the judge. He moves with lovely knee action but covers the ground so well. Love that horse!!

got to be both as i understand the breed standard - they should neither just pick up their knees and "potato mash" or flash stright in a "daisy cutting" motion - they should move in almost a circular motion - bring knee up and throw leg forwards and straight before making contact with the ground - so i didnt vote as i wanted to check both boxes!

Too many Cs and Ds do not move behind and I really hate dishing. I did not like either of the boxes - I am somewhere else really!

we always look at the hock action first, if the movment is not right behind and he isnt using himself, then the front end will be wrong and they wont cover the ground. alot of the high knee boys dont move right behind and engage thier hocks. have seen a lot of medal winning stallions who dont engage from behind. sad but true

This is my ideal movement, up and out with powerful hock and shoulder action. This photo is of Pentrefelin Little Loe who is a very extravagent mover, bear in mind both front and hind legs are still on thier way up and forward, he has a massive ground covering stride. This action is light and effortless, covering lots of ground at each stride. This action would ride and drive. I believe there is a queue of people wanting to do both with this special section C.
