Out of interest, does this now mean that he is not a Sec B? If so, what is he now

No he's still a sec B, his breeding dictates that but unfortunately will no longer be allowed to be shown in M&M classes. Therefore he will have to pursue a life outside showing or maybe plait up to do HP(orSP?) if he is that type.

Surely he can apply to be re-classified as a D - although I guess he would be the wrong type for 'D' classes - but would be eligible for M&Ms then

Nope. Section B's cannot be reclassified. The pony is and always will be an overheight B.

Well, at least he can still do plaited 143 workers, or go eventing.

Guestless, perhaps you should consider locking this thread and starting a new one since we are now on page 27?

I have a couple of ponies going to be measured next week but the forms for 2011 arent on the JMB website yet. Any idea when they will be on please as my vet likes the forms taken to him with the ponies. Thank you

Any idea when they will be on please as my vet likes the forms taken to him with the ponies. Thank you It is the measurer's responsibility to have the forms. Some 2011 forms were sent to all measurers weeks ago. Who is the naughty measurer? The website will be updated over the weekend.

What do vets have to do to become official measurers? I know they need a certified measuring pad but do they have any specific training?

What do vets have to do to become official measurers? I know they need a certified measuring pad but do they have any specific training? This contained in rule 7 - see our website, www.thejmbonline.co.ukMost new measurers take over from an experienced one so they get some training from them. We also advise some to visit an experienced measurer to see what goes on and we send all new measurers a training video. Never has a problem with a "new" measurer!

JMB sec I wasn't questioning the efficiency of new measurers I was merely asking the question as I work for a vet and we have excellent facilities( a large quiet industrial building adjoining one of the surgeries where we often have clients bringing horses for routine work to save visit fees)which would make an excellent area for measuring. It was a genuine question not a cynical one!

Just one entry in 2011 - an invalid cert. as owner's cheque bounced.

Just had our pony measured today and from 4 years old he was 135.5 .5 years old 136.4 and today 6 years old he was 138 i can't belive he has grown so much. It will be interesting to see how big he looks in his 138 class!!!! the last one he did he looked small. There should not be any thing bigger than him!!!!

This is a general reply and only my opinion...for what it's worth...I have pondered long and hard and read many posts and most people are of the same opinion, they are frustrated with over height animals blatantly winning/qualifying without recourse...and so say all of us!!! There has to be change for things to improve..i don't know if this is feasible but....If there was a volunteer system for measuring ponies annually [show horses have to be measured annually anyway]..sort of a reward/point system i.e. from four years old and over for animals entering any RI/Hoy's qualifiers...if owners volunteered their animal for measuring within a specific time span, at the beginning of every season, at measuring pads nominated via the JMB, [within a logistically designated radius of the owner ], at a reduced cost on a sliding scale..... for those owners volunteering on to the scheme and implement higher and escalating costs for owners not entering the scheme. For those owners choosing not to be involved in the scheme..... unable to enter RI/Hoy's qualifiers....that would sort out the BIG boys/girls from the real boys/girls if you get my drift ..........a decrease in overall costs and a reduction in over height animals qualifying for RI/Hoys...........again just my opinion and i am entitled to it..but i don't expect everyone to agree.......but isn't that called democracy???

Not sure what sort of change you are asking for jump4joy?? Ponies/horses already have to be measured every year between 4 and 7 because they are still growing. After 7 they can get a life height cert.
Sorry but having just paid out in excess of £150 for my ponies height cert this year (£77 for height cert, 2 trips from the farrier and fuel) then additionaly a day off from work, height certs are not something I want to be doing every year for the rest of his life! I'll do it untill (IF) he goes over 153cms or gets his life height, which ever comes first! Not all of us are made of money!

£77 plus the cost of a microchip if yours doesnt have one already! ...or has one that has migrated which happened to me 2 years ago when I took my coloured to be measured. Thankfully it was at the same vet's that had implanted it or he may have thought I was loopy!

Just a quick question My 6 year old pony measured 138 so is up to height so what happenes if he grows a tiny bit he will be over. He had grown a lot from a 5 year old and i had not noticed so how would i know? Would his height cert still be valid?

what would happen if you bought a pony with an annual cert, that you thought was measured to big. You take it top have Life height and it is smaller by quite a large amount. What would happen

Nothing, some do measure a tiny bit smaller if they were measured originally and were very tense x
