Im not sure but if anything like our shows i do not take a salary, but if i was to owe anything i would pay it myself first then claim it back from next event, in actual fact i pay for around 50% of things out of our own wallet pre show and pray we make enough to pay ourselfs back, in the wet 2008 show we lost over 800 which was slowly reclaimed out of the last 2 shows, we are now back at zero after paying all bills and slowly building up pre show sponsorship ready for 2010, this is half the reason we dont offer prize money, we do offer an amount to the supreme champion & Reserve at summer show but this will depend on how we have actually done, have you tried ringing them up ??

I know when I enquired about the show they sent an email saying that they were low on numbers & didn't even have enough entries at that time to cover the champ prize money - maybe they decided not to pay out if this was the case but very bad of them not to inform you.

we had no indication even on the day that there was a problem when we won we were told that they could not find the cq for the supreme so it would be posted on to us as it was going to be given out with the sash/rosette originally. so i never really gave it another thought until weeks later when i chased it to be told the above 700.00 down etc. but thats showing i suppose!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

How about asking for just a part of it, rather than the whole amount? I know you should get the full amount really, but in order to help keep these shows going - and you know the entries were well down, you could settle for less maybe?

the annoying part is being ignored. i appreciate shows need to be kept running but why advertise 100.00 prize money knowing full well its not in the kitty. anyone that knows us would agree that we are the most easygoing people around get along with everyone and never have a problem with others so it was a big thing for me to post this on here but i am so angry that no one has had the decency to mail/call me. as far as i am concerned they can keep the money iam not the first they have not paid and i am sure i will not be the last.

Isn't it classed as fraud? If prizes are advertised then surely they have to be honoured??

In the eyes of trading standards, its misrepresentation, the only reason prise money should/could not be paid is if, the show has declared itself bankrupt.
Because anyone could say they had no money.

I would be furious if prize money was withheld.....the only way IMO that can be legally done is if there is a disclaimer in the rules/terms and conditions that equates prize money being awarded in relation to entries received.

I cant believe that as a judge you have to ASK for your payment or you dont get it!This is SO rude! I have run many shows, and never yet have I waited for a judge to request payment. Its like some shows that offer prize money, but you have to collect it after the class, it's just a crafty way of not paying, because most people don t realize.

as my friend bemused mentioned earlier on in the thread i am still waiting for payment from showlands native elite show held around 14th sep . we won roughly 150.00 not had a penny. i have tried to contact them through various obvious routes with no answer/reply. it is such a shame that it has come to this but i believe they have done this before as i have had messages via hg. was told in the beginning entries were down by 700.00 and would have to be paid from organizers salary . i was in no rush for this money but to be ignored is not acceptable and as the show was pr entered surely they would of had an indication on entries. i am not bothering anymore and will put it down to experience but surely this is wrong yes as mentioned have tried all routes other than writing a letter but to be honest can not be bothered anymore. id like to think there is a genuine reason for this but who knows? ?? as i said before lovely show and nice people!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Firstly, I have annouced on both this and the Showlands site the probems regarding our cash flow for the show. You may have noticed but we had as little as 2 entries in some classes! It was not purely pre entries as we had a whole ring of on the day fun classes. We were also considerably more down the £700 as was announced. In regards to my receiving a salary I was talking about my £7,000 per year salary I earn working 29 hours a week NOT FROM THE SHOW (I bloody wish!) Also, you have NOT contacted my via post, email or phone!!!! I replied to the pm you sent on here and you seemed perfectly acceptable of the fact that I would sort out money as soon as was possible, but sorry I cannot put your prize money before feeding my 2 children. I was without internet for nearly 2 months when moving house, but really you could have picked up the phone my mobile number is printed on every show schedule etc. I had no sms or answer phone messages either I also think that various members posts are absolutely shocking the way they jump on the bandwagon when someone posts something without knowing all the facts, perhaps people should think twice about posting if they are totally unaware of all the details involved. It was simply by chance that I spotted these posts, otherwise I would have gone totally unaware whilst people would have been spreading rumors and damaging our reputation over an issue that I am trying to resolve as quickly as possible. Its times like these that I really wonder why I put all my life and soul (and countless ££££s) into these shows when all it brings me is grief, sleepless nights and even less time with my family. I would like to finish this post by thanking all the other prizewinners at the show that I requested we keep the prize money to keep the show going and to all those that have accepted the offer of free 2010 membership instead. brookesmom5g4s// team linney - if you have anything further to say on the matter please pick up the phone tomorrow morning before 10.30am (when I will be off to work a 12 hour day to make up some of the show money) and I will be happy to answer any questions. 0116 2570176Many Thanks, Gemma Brinkley.
