I also remember him. I was at the Oakley stud to do my NPS stud assistant certificate but only stayed a week ( the thought of marmalade sandwiches for breakfast every day done it for me!!!! ). There is a stallion by him just down the road from me and I was going to send my Small land mare to him last year but instead won a nomination in Carolines fundraising auction to teddydogs lovely stallion by Wharf Nimrod. I believe a lot of his stock jump very well

Holly of Spring ended her days at the Cosford Stud - there is a photo of her at Wembley in the personality parade on the stud's website.

Richard Deptford (Hollys breeders son) breeds Welsh Cobs and lives in Elgin. His contact address and phone number are listed against his stud (Gems) on www.welshponyandcob.co.uk He was my neighbour for many years before he moved to Scotland and I am sure he would love to tell you everything you want to know about Holly. He still had Penhill Finola (Hollys mum) when I knew him along with some other mares and youngstock, (I see there is one of his 'Heartbeat of Spring' for sale on horesquest and he also bred Gems ballykissangel and Gems the Rustler.) I believe it was his dad Bert who sent Holly to Sybils to be covered by Bounce (Oakley Bubbling Spring) I actually feel really old now!!!!

There was also a full (I think...) brother to Holly - Cygnet of Spring - he covered a few mares before being gelded and brought out under saddle by Samantha Fry.

Cygnet os Spring then had a height objection ( see it happened then as well) as he had been advertised as a 14hh stallion he mearsured very easily i belive and went on to be placed at

My daughter was priviliged to ride what I believe was Oakley Bubbling Springs last mare offspring - Langage Springtime (stablename Sybil!). Chloe rode her for the Jago's in her last season in 148cm show ponies and we both loved her to bits - they were 2nd at the RIHS and I have wonderful memories of her gallop in the main arena in the championship - she flew! After HOYS she returned to the Langage stud in Devon and her first foal went to HOYS as a 4 yearold in SHP classes, such a sweetie. My hope was that one day they might breed a small hack from her but I am still waiting! I am useless as putting photos on but maybe Chloe could post one of Sybil on this thread.
