Hell, hell and bl**dy hell - the people have just phoned who had "bought" my lorry and said they can't raise the money - and the want the flipping deposit bacK - no chance!!!!! Talk about timewasters - I must have had twenty calls over the weekend for it and told them all it was sold. People (or at least some of them) really take the pi**.!!! lol they want the deposit back?? Any deposit made is non refundable on cars and lorries from dealers, so y would they expect to get it back from a private sale? Some people are sooo stupid oh well, hope they gave u a good deposit!

You would think that before going to look at lorries, you would make sure you have the money to actually buy one. I would hate to find the ideal lorry and then not be able to actually purchase it. Hope they left you a decent deposit to make up for your wasted time.

Thankyou You are elevated to junior member at 50 posts, and then there are other levels on from that according to the number of posts you have done, ie full member I think is 100 posts. There's senior member after that and I think possibly God status if you get to 1000.

Lolly I really sympathise. I advertised my lovely horse in june this year after 4 wonderful years with him. It wasn't his fault I decided to sell him but circumstances dictated it. I was inundated with people who wanted to buy him over 150 phone calls - the vast majority were shocking and should NEVER have been allowed to buy a horse. I will never sell another - its just too traumatic. I'll go down the loan route if we reach another awful decision. On another note being a purchaser is not much fun either! I once travelled 100 miles to see what sounded like a perfect pony. The buyer knew I wanted it to show and had answered my questions brilliantly. It also looked good in the photo so off we trotted. Unfortunately they neglected to mention the pony only had ONE EYE!!! The owner then had the cheek to say 'if I told everyone that noone would come to see him!' Said pony had a ridiculous price tag to match Fetherston I'm really sorry to hear about your lorry also. I've just placed a wanted ad for a lorry in the wanted section - if yours matches please let me know!

I am fast learning about selling here's my tips so far: 1. When you get a deposit get a good amount of cash. A cheque for £100 is worth nothing and they can stop it. 2. Never tell someone they can have first refusal and then wait a week for them to come. Other people who have been enquired and told that they can see it at the weekend if it is not sold will just go elsewhere - and of course the dead keen buyer will not buy. 3. Never ever agree to deliver a pony 300 miles away and collect the cash when you get there. It will not happen. 4. Never let anyone drive your lorry even if it is insured unless you are really sure they can drive. Even if the insurance pays for the repairs you will still have th excess to pay.
Do these tips have the ring of experience about them? If so please send waves of sympathy!!

Fetherston, I am sending you oodles of sympathy I have been following this thread as it is sometimes very funny and I can identify with some of the experiences described. However, if I were you I would either be in a lunatic assylum or in prison for GBH! Fingers crossed that you get a 'real' buyer for something soon.

Fertherston I simerthies with you. I have sold a couple of wagons. The first one I had was over weight. So advertised the body only. Had load of calls, wanting to put it on the same chassie told them NO!. I sold it in the end to somebody who had a bigger chassie. Only to find they never converted it and to this day is still the same On another note trying to buy a new horse is just as bad. I've been looking for over two months. Been up & down the country for said horse, only to find it on my doorstep A wild goose chase might have been the word I have seen some Donkeys that are HOYS bound sadly I didn't want a donkey... just a horse ;D Good luck selling the wagon

Thanks for good wishes! I did sell the little lr pony to a lovely home at the weekend so things are starting to move. Had yet more timewasters to the lorry. "Will you knock off £500 because it will need some new tyres some time this year or next" does not cut any ice with me!! Had a bizarre conversation with man from Isle of Wight. "Will my wife be able to drive it". "Yes, you can try it out it is insured for anyone over 25". "No, do you think my wife in particular will be able to drive it" "Who is she?" "Her name is Amanda". "Do I know her?" Well, I thought you might" "But we live in Warwickshire". "I know, but do you think she will be able to drive it?"
Throw mobile phone into freezer in Tesco and cause small stir amongst nearby customers as smoke comes out of my ears. Help!!!
