Hearing this sad news yesterday at Moreton allowed me time to reflect on the many years fun I have had in Michael's company. Having dinner with him at last week's BSPS Champs are now my last and abiding memories of a very dear friend. Another icon gone but never forgotten. RIP dear freind. ATR

I first met Michael about 35 years ago and it has been a pleasure to have been Judged by and Judged with such a special man. There will be no replacing him. His Knowledge was vast and his Experiences and Personally were something so special.
For those who didnt know him, you have missed an experience of a life time. So this is how I would like to remember Michael.
When special people touch our lives, then suddenly we see How wonderful and beautiful our world can really be They show us how our hopes and dreams can take us very far By helping us to look inside and believe in who we are They bless us with their joy and love in everything they give When special people touch our lives they teach us how to live
and finally Faithful, kind and always true Reassuring through and through Insightful in your wise advice Enthusiastic, sweet and nice Noted for your smiling face Dear friend, no one could take your place
RIP you will never be forgotten. xx

RIP Michael. He will be sorely missed, especially by the many children he judged each year, to whom he was always kind, constructive and witty.

RIP Michael, i have just heard this news and cant believe it, he judge me at PUK a few weeks ago and we were lucky to be 1st & Champion he loved our pony and said that my jockey was a lovely rider and he took the time to say this to us , those memories will certainly stick and mean so much more now. A real shame of such a kind and fantastic person, you will sadly missed in the show world xxxx

Such very sad news. Michael was a lovely gentleman, always courteous and kind. A most knowledgeable and fair judge, it was an honour to judge with him and to enjoy his company, which I was fortunate to do on many occasions. We shall miss him greatly. Adrianne Smyth

This is very sad news he was always such a nice man he alwayd had some encouraging words. I got eliminated in a workers once and before I left the ring he made a point of saying what a lovely pony she was and such a shame I was eliminated as she was jumping so well to that point.... this made me laugh as I had only managed 1 jump! There will never be another like him

Very sad news indeed.
He judged our ponies on several occasions ..always very fairly..and was one of the most respected judges in the showing world.
His knowledge and experience particularly of Connemara and other native ponies will not be surpassed.
RIP
