Thanks everybody for your kind words about coco and Georgia. Unfortunately it wasnt the only mishap we had on saturday! after winning the Equifest 12.2 We had a rush to get to our home produced shp class, the ring was running late by about 50mins , which meant our next class on coco may have been in jeopardy , so we asked if we could do our show first and strip , then go off to do our sp class leaving frank in the ring with our friend - they said we could and off we went happily. Unfortunately part way through the sp class, Raegan , georgias friend appeared saying the class had finished and we were asked to leave the ring as Georgia wasnt there for the prize giving . The judge said had she been there , we would of WON...i was perplexed at this mentality as it was clearly there ring running late , not us that threw our timetable out of synch. so I went to make my feeling known to Jon Phillips who agreed Georgia had won the class and promptly gave us a first rosette and prize money .....However we didnt get the opportunity to contest the championship which im sure we would of won , and missed out spot in the evening performance....and somebody else was in there instead -im waiting for a response from Jon about the championship debacle and will let you all know what he says when I hear back , but Thanks for all the kind words - xx

Just home from another fab equifest, sadly not the best results but i think we were just unlucky, Reuben slipped and i came off in the open NN coloured horses on thursday, he didnt feel rite in the 4,5,6 year old NN coloured horses on friday so brought him out, he went beutifully in the equifest NN coloured championship but didnt get anywhere and was10th in the home produced NN coloured horses!! Alot bussier than the past 2 years that we have been but even though there was hicups we will definately be returning next year WELL DONE EQUIFEST!

Ponymum that's such a shame for you and Georgia. Unfortunately many classes were clashing due to the enormous entries, I know we missed a class as they ended up being at the same time. Welsh A great results for you, excellent for Harriet and Hayden, such lovely kids. Thanks for your help and loan items! Zoe loved the evening performance, can't stop talking about it. She said at breakfast today..........mummy I am still very proud of myself, bless her

Had a lovely time this week even in the rain! Feet are a little tired after walking from purple Stables to the rings all week, could have done with a tannoy in that area and it would have been lovely, quiet and parking near stables. Pony mum feel really sorry for you for what happened in the evening performance, I didn't see it, but hope your little girl wasn't too heart broken. As for your other problems that occurred on saturday I personally think they have been more than fair giving you a first rosette and prize money. how many times do we hear timetables are only a guidance, if you choose to enter classes close together then you should except that you might have to make a choice. it sounds like the judge was very fair letting you do your show and strip first but the norm is that jockey and pony must be there for the final presentation. It would have been unfair on the jockey who did win if they had striped them of their place so you could contest the championship? That would have been cruel just like what happened to you in the evening performance and I'm sure you wouldn't wish that on somebody else. Good luck in the future, I'm sure you will have lots more wins. Xx

Well done curlysmum, you had lots of fab results this year Hope you manage to get everything sorted ponymum, was so gutted for Georgia when i heard what had happened in the evening with coco We had a fantastic time this year and our little pony was a superstar, some results - 1st novice m&m first ridden small breeds with Ash 1st and reserve champion home produced first ridden small breeds with Ash 3rd home produced junior small breeds with Ash 7th in m&m pairs with curlysmum 3rd in a huge tiny tot lead rein class with my 3 yead old son Finlay unfortunatley we had to leave the riding club pony class after doing a beautiful show as it was clashing with a first ridden class Some bizare judging in the equifest first ridden small breeds, was run more like an inhand class and performance didn't seem to be taken into consideration, kids not doing the set show and wrong legs in canter on both reins were rewarded with top places, really wish there were some marks sheets available as we really couldn't follow the judging at all But glad to say we still had a fab time, and will be back again for 2012. Well done to all the horse gossipers that attended

This was my first equifest I have attended and most certainly not my last!! What a fantastic run show with excellent tanoy facilities. We could hear everything with plenty of warning. As a team we have had a fantastic week, I think it ended up 13 firsts, 6 seconds, 4 thirds, 2 fourths, 1 fifth, 1 sixth, 1 seventh, 2 ninths, 5 champions, and 3 reserves, including reserve supreme 4,5,6 year olds. Very friendly atmosphere, very helpful staff, very good show!
Well done to everyone who attended equifest and who got placed. All classes were huge, so even more delighted when placed and rewarded.

Had a fantastic time with our section a pony Pwllsarn Sweetcorn, he did a mixture of classes mainly FR, he won 6 classes and 3 championships, first time at the show loved it all despite probs with stabling which equifest fully aware of, we got into the evening performance last night and was very disapointed to see a pony get take supreme that had noteven turned up for the PRE-JUDGING, so I will be speaking to equifest today about the rules around that, as that pony did not even do a show for the judges who had not previously judged it, there seemed to be some debate between the 2 judges and i got the impression that the female judge did not agree with it, spoilt a good week for us but will still come back next year!!! We were also in this Supreme and were awarded Reserve, when I asked why the Champion hadnt been judged so therefore could not possible of won it was dealt with immediatly. We were awarded Supreme Home Produced and the results will be changed, however a bit dissapointing not to have our true moment of glory and photo's with wrong sash on!!! I'm not sure who will take reserve but the equifest team said they would be contacting relevant people. Apart from that we had an amazing week winning Nov Welsh D & res champ, 4,5,6yr old & res champ, Jnr rid & res champ, HP Jnr Rid & champ and 2nd Jnr lge & res champ all with our fabulous boy Jebeth Captain Sensible and Lauren Gibson. Thanks to Equifest who did there best to sort a problem out, and were polite and professional in doing so. Look forward to next year

Well feeling very tired but thought i would check up on the posts for equifest. We had a lovely few days and was so pleased that in one day my daughter won both her workers, not bad for her 2nd yr jumping. Think the course builders in working hunter ring 1 done a fantastic course and i don't think there is anywhere else that can hold such a challenging course.
We watched the eve performance last night and must say that i think that everyone felt for little Georgia how sad for all involved, i know mistakes happen but seems worse when it is small children.
It was lovely to see Equifest so popular this year and the classes being huge my only problem there was when the Ridden M&M's have the largest entries why would there rings be cut down in size.
With the Clear Round on Thursday I think it would be fantastic if this could run all day on the first day maybe somewhere else on the showground as so many people were down there before 9am and they had already closed the entries.
Apart from that we thoroughly enjoyed it well done Betsy and Team

"the ruling is , the pony and number shall stay in the ring and can be judged irrespective as to wether the jockey is present or not ..."
I'm not sure where you got this info, if this is true then it seems that that info wasn't given to the stewards as they were told in the briefing on wednesday night that jockeys must be back for final presentation except in the workers where they can be placed as long as a representative is present. Think there must have been some mis communication going on!

LOL Mizzy - I feel the same from the PUK threads! You can't win don't take it to heart, people saying PUK wins don't mean much as not many there, others say equifest large numbers but quantity not quality - others arguing the opposite in both cases - just stick with being as pleased as you were before, everyone has their own opinions on everything just be happy - I'm chuffed as anything with our results and know we can be proud of them, and love our pony just as much as we always do!

Thanks haggismarmite - I know my daughter and her pony did a fantastic show, as asked, without any wrong legs and IMO well deserved their position. They behaved impecably in the evening performance too!
Shouldn't let it bother me........ x

Had a fab few days at my first what a fab show and how lovely to be back at East of Eng again !! however I have 3 suggestions to help improve for next year ..... 1) Big clear numbers on the rings , and more ring maps up... We had no idea where any of the rings were and ended up walking miles !! 2) More health and safety for public eating areas ... We were sat on the wooden benches at side of the main ring and horeses were wandering thro ... Def asking for an accident to happen ??!! 3)A more healthy food stall ... Eg ... Salad bar , fresh made sandwiches , all the chips , toasties etc are great but would of loved a healthier option !!
But all in all it was a fab really well run show :-))

It was our first time at Equifest and thought it was a friendly and relaxed show. Our stables were miles from the rings but we were parked really close to stable so it was fine. We had nice neighbours and was quite nice being out of the way. All of our classes had loads in, yes they ran late at times but they did wizz through them.
Ring 6 did seem to be too small for the classes that were held in there, for example on the first day they had a class of highlands, dales & fells that they had to split down as there was no way they could fit. They did make the ring a bit larger later and wasn't so bad when I was in there. We got placed in all of our classes, flat and whps so very pleased.
I agree with whoever made the comment about Mr Lawrence judging, he was professional yet friendly and gave feedback and he remembered how ponies performed and they were rewarded. Also Mr Harforth gave feedback also, in my class the 2 judges each handed out the rosettes and the other judge gave me mine but he bothered to stop and tell me that my pony went very well. It is nice to get a comment especially if it is positive but also if it is constructive and can help you in future. I was impressed by most of the judges memory as to how the ponies went as it was generally rewarded in most of the classes I was in, only one exception.
My friend spotted Betsy and went to thank her for a lovely show, we both spoke to her and she is a lovely lady. We have spoken to her on the phone before and she is very helpful, well done to her for a successful show.
There were a few mishaps in the evening performance on Friday I think it was when the announcer was calling out ponies numbers and names who were not even in the ring or would even have been in the class/championship that was happening!
It is such a shame that people are ruining things for others where stables are concerned. The majority of us pay for them fair and square and because of others abusing it the prices may go up because of the minority. It is expensive to travel and compete without people causing prices to increase.
I watched some of the show cob judging on Saturday and just wanted to say I thought Chloe Chubb gave all the horses a lovely ride.
We hope to go again next year depending on getting time off work!

We've not long got back from our first Equifest and have had a brilliant week with the 2 cobs. Tia (Calamity Jane II) was just awesome and won the husge open lightweight class then went on to take the open cob championship. Watching her gallop down the middle in the spotlight was the best thing I've ever seen. She was absolutely on fire all that day Charlie (Spartacus) has been on good form all week. I was very proud of him for taking 2nd in the massive novice LW class with my friend riding him ( I had surgery last week). We had lots of good placing s with them all week but we are especially pleased with them getting 4th and 6th in the Nupafeed / Equifest lightweight cobs.

In all my years of attending horse shows in several different countries and continents I have never seen anything quite as large and spectacular as Equifest. Combined with the BSPA champs this surely must now be the premier horse showing show in the land? I have been to Peterborough many, many times but I have never seen so many lorries, tents, stables and horse and ponies. It was incredible. The atmosphere was amazing and I can honestly say the level of griping and moaning was absolutely minimal compared to much more so called prestigious affiliated shows. Everyone seemed to be trying their hardest and best, sportsmanship and good grace were a lot more evident and the vibe`was all about enjoying the whole experience not just getting a rosette. And IMO this was not about lesser, poorer quality, also rans. The whole event was bristling with best effort, top of the game brought about by a lot of hard work and nothing handed on a plate. It really was quite breathtaking and a bit mind boggling. So jolly well done to all of those that attended, winners or not. This is the spirit of showing and showmanship we all need to get back to. Betsey please don't be woo'ed by affiliation or membership fees, qualifiers or medals. It's exactly as it should be, truly grass roots. A fabulous effort from the organising team. My only suggestions would be; more signposts for elderly fools such as me who managed to actually get lost between judging rings for 40mins.... walking in circles....only rescued by more far mored clued up competitors; somewhere nice with showers set aside to change into the frock for the evening performance (there is only so much one can do with Wet Wipes and an Afro comb to post 50 rides and hat hair); Champagne bar dahlink....... there was definitely still room in that arena for one ;-)
