Due to the cancellation of qualifying shows again this weekend. Anyone who has qualified for a class at this years championship show, will be allowed to enter other qualifying classes. The show is NOT being opened up to anyone, only to competitors who have taken the trouble to qualify and are struggling to qualify in more classes due to the cancellation of so many shows. We are aware also of the expense of travelling to the show for just the one class. Hope this helps the many dissapointed people we have spoken to over the weekend. UK Showing I think this is very helpful for people who have qualified and I am one of those lucky people. So will be entering another class which I have been trying to get to a show to. People who haven't qualified, I do feel for you due to this dam weather. My pony only ever been to one show in its life and we are defo jumping in the deep end. Good luck everyone x

This is the best decision for you, your baby and your horse. I have had a very similar experience and fell pregnant and having to give up my horse of a life time. I now 3 years on got back in the ring last year and have a new horse I am riding and training just up the road from my house and now enjoy a whole new aspect of having a horse. Sharing family time doing a hobby and watching my little boy sit on my new onces back is just amazing.
I was always showing up and down the country weekend after weekend and never thought showing at local level would ever keep me happy..but t is a refreshing change. (for a year or so anyway lol ;-) ) I think I gave up properly for two years although I did do some freelance teaching so kept my hand in that way. Keep on riding after baby is born.. even if its just a happy hack once a month or a hang out for a few hours on a stable floor whilst your friends muck out.
Just think of your baby and trust me as soon as little one comes along the time will fly and then you ail be stressed about having to buy a lead rein pony and outfit instead
All the best for you and your little one xxlaura

Hi guys,
What do you feed your horses for the ring. My boy is getting fitter and in need of more energy but I dont want his to gain anymore. He is just currently on Topspec low cal. But he just needs something more to help him
What do you think I have a few ideas
xx

I kind of know the answer to my own question but just don't want anyone riding him really. He is still green and ride for people and have never had anyone ride ponies so a bit odd in my head. Daft I know.
I need to win the lottery and get a horse walker :-)

Hello!
Have had a new boy since November and after slowly bringing him into work and slowly building him up..I have now been to out to my first show yesterday and we won our class. ;D He's a 14.2 coloured cob.
I need to build his fitness up as he was getting very flat by the end of his class (although still tried his heart out)
Since having my last ponies BEFORE having a baby never had issues with fitness as I could ride 5-6 times as much as was needed for each pony and never had any issues
Any advise for Mummy's/Daddy's and working people who only can ride 3-4 times a week and what you do to get horses fit along with your other commitments
Many Thanks Laura

Area 5 team just proved how Top Class Welsh ponies are not just one trick ponies and same for the fantastic riders. 5th out of an amazing 32 teams!!!! Such a great event to do something different. Lychfields Scrumpy Jack, Peasedown Mr Muddle and Pentrefelin Sorento were a credit to the breed and all behaved impeccably during their tests and presentations. I think the ponies were some what confused being asked to WALK out of the arena not gallop on lap of honour but again showed how well behaved and truly talented they really are...GO WELSHIES!!!!
Well done everyone and well done to Linzy for a fantastic idea last year
Thank you NPS for putting on a great event with some beautiful rosettes!!!
Role on next year!!

Hello, Have decided now that the two daring oldies would much prefer to stay out and relax. Looking for shared grazing or just grazing livery within a Ok distance from Styal (Near Manchester airport) Please do let me know if you know if anyone has anything that may be suitable Many Thanks

I agree with janet doesn't have to be new...I have been lending a saddle off my pal while pony changes shape and now I am getting a second/third/forth (lol) hand saddle to do this year as he is young and next year treat myself to a better one. But do think the tree less looks to bulky but just my opinion :-)

Personally I use black bridle and brown saddle. I do think it is important to have the correct tack for your horse if you are going to do some affilated classes and usually a saddle that is straight cut at the knee is prefered in my eyes. I have just looked up your saddle and think it looks to big for the ring and may not look correct on your pony. But if all is just for fun no need to spend money but just depends on how far you plan on going with your pony
Either way good luck and have fun thats most important :-)

You need to not worry straight away about the canter lead (I KNOW.... HOW CAN I SAY THIS LOL!!) But voice command on the lunge always works for me..also had some advise this to do a little tap on the shoulder with a whip (depends on how your pony is and age) and once they know the command. It will just help with the quality of the transition. Also lots of straight lines out on fields and let you pony just pop into canter. Best standing out of your seat also, as your pony will be unbalanced
Everyone has such different ways but this is what works for me ..all the best :-)
