Penny...thanks for that video...its the funniest thing I have seen! You could make a fortune with it....so glad I postponed my summer holiday to attend!! How did you manage to capture the moment when the tractors got stuck? Sent it on to EVERYONE I know...especially in the USA! they KNOW we are all mad.

Have they made a decision about tomorrow. they said this afternoon that only the HOYS classes might run but even they may be cancelled because of the ground and a decision would be made this evening.

They still used the same field to park in today. Is very wet there today, was raining from approx midday and hadn't stopped when we left around 5.30ish.
Managed to walk pony up to rings late morning and stayed pretty clean (bandaged up). Once finished, went shopping and when we went back to the lorry it had got alot worse, much much wetter and muddier than earlier.

We went to the show for two days and I have just got back! Today, I witnessed staff digging a lorry out of mud where it had got stuck (even with tractors pulling it). Staff were very helpful but such a shame! I agree, Sam's pony is nice but is it experienced enough to go to Olympia?! It was pulled in second to start off with and to me that normally means you wouldn't be champion as you moved up and were not initially favorite! VERY obscure judging, no pattern....except NF faces! And before you say, I was a spectator!!!

I was a bit suprised with the C&D result (no I wasn't in it) The winner IMO (and it is just that) was not a true to type cob. The A&B judge generally awarded good shows.
Was a shame the championship could not have used the full ring.

I have just finished cleaning the mud of my lorry after getting back very late last night. After leaving the yard at crack of dawn we sailed down to the show only to be greeted by a huge line of lorries waiting to get in, an hour later we were pulled onto the show ground by some very nice and still smiling tractor drivers. When my workers finally started ( i was in the middle height section) my heart sank despite perfect going in the ring the course resembled one that i would expect for a novice . I have a pony who is more then upto the big and demanding tracks, and yet time and time again these hoys courses are made of nothing. Im so glad that i am not in the small section this year where each class seems to produce 20 + clears. I think its time something was done and shows that are not producing tracks that are worthy of hoys status should have the qualification taken away from them. Maybe i should plat my highland and enter 14hh plated classes, but i think im a few years past that age now (or would i get away with it if i didnt pay a few entries and invested in some miracle working anti-wrinkle cream)

So Dartie. Would you have prefered a course that given the current weather conditions would have put your pony at risk.
Jumping is not the only element, and a good judge can see a pony's way of going over any type of course. Could it be that you need the jumping marks.!!!!!!

Dartie - I agree that a HOYS WH course should be a tough track and really test the ponies.
Never satisfied - there are plenty of posts saying the going was v good in the WH ring !
So com'on someone .... who was the winning D everyone is talking about ?!
And was the Dun Stallion Kate Harris stallion that won at RW last year ?
Lexy.

Totally agree with you Dartie. Course totally pathetic.
And never satisfied. Did you walk around the whp ring??
Ground was fantastic jumping. Have you ever been out hunting before? I wish i had ground like that every time i'm crossing the moors on my actual real life WORKING HUNTER ponies.
These classes are getting more like show ponies with cross poles every year. They hardly reflect real life.

"Never Satisfied" The working hunter had the best going and ground conditions that I have seen all year and one of the most pathetic courses.

Why dont you write to the NPS and HOYs about the course, if they get lots of letters they may do something about it.
You may not think but I believe they do listen, but wont listen to a horsegossip site.
Not a critism to you but a suggestion, we can get things done if we bother to do it the right way.

Sorry I am here again.
You could also write to NF as they may change their course builder.

Just looked in catalogue and stunning D stallion is owned by T Young and ridden By D Pickering. Name of stallion is Tydfil Lloyd Dun n Dusted. Hope to see more of this chap for the rest of the season. Nice to see a new face!!!! Thought cob? in 1st was a bit of a strange choice- judge maybe went for manners.

A judge can not see how brave and hunter like a pony is around a small set of non-descript fences. These tracks should be asking questions from the first fence as may happen out hunting. The course down at Area 25 (which i didnt compete at as pony not right), was a joke esp for the smalls, there was one spread!! and only about one filler!! And in response to your question this year our marks have ranged from great jumping and falling down on the conformation and vice versa, my problem is the courses are just not hard enough, for the true jumpers to shine through. I would never risk my pony he is the only one i have and my pride and joy and i have put blood, sweat and tears into producing him. If i even thought i may be risking him i wouldn't compete.

Just had a call to say my aborted attempt to watch/collect pony at NF show (due to mud etc), Conditions were like a "walk in the park compared to today (Thurs) Big well done to organisers for bulldozing surplus mud and carrying on with the show, but my God, you need to be keen, and fit to play this game!

Has anyone got restults for the hoys lr and fr yet for today, was meant to go but after seeing the pictures and video footage of the show last night decided that I liked my pony and my lorry too much. Lets hope that things can inprove across the county or all our summer champs could also be a mud bath.

I was there and wished that I had not attended due to the mud! I too was informed that the showground was fine and as I do not have a PC at home did not know that they were towing on and off the ground, so after waiting to get onto the ground in a que round the outside I was shocked to see all the mud. We were towed and we did ask to be to one side but they took us right through the middle and when the 2 tractors finished with us and drove off I look over my lorry… well my front wheel was damaged and was my radiator and until I can get the mechanic out in the next couple of days we have a horrible inkling that the front suspension & some other bits has been damaged too.
Also for the HOYS workers running late OK I can understand this however the stopping and starting was a bit bad, I sore a number of people warming up and then have to stop due to letting the displays through & the scurry drivers.
