I agree with afan and dramaqueen, hopeless judging ! When judging you should try and make sure that you at least get the first pony right first time, how hard is it !! It is bad enough getting dropped from 1st at anytime but at the Royal Welsh it must be heartbreaking ! Can't be because she saw something close up she didn't like, doubt she could see much with those glasses on, lol. Her championship line up was a complete mish-mash.
Just as everyone predicted, share it around, so glad I didn't waste my time and money.

Was the B judge the American (?) lady who all the lack of medal controversy was over and was this resolved?
Cannot comment on her judging as mised the classes but caught the Championship and loved the Hilin pony that took it.

Yes she was American, and yes there was lots of controversy leading up the show. I did like some of what she put up but it was very inconsistant IMO on the whole. Some good ones got cards, but lots of top quality stock unplaced. so glad i didnt take our B, save her for the Winter Fair. I did like Delilah though annd of course my ponies brother Wood-wind.

I am not 'in the know' when it comes to Welsh B's but i loved the dun Hillin Cato which took the championship we do the ridden job and have had two totally different types of Welsh C's and i liked the assortment the C's judge had at the top Pentrefelin Little Joe .. altho small was proper little cob type and moved well Popsters Tommy Cokles .. love the Popsters ponies Glynwyn predicts a riot .. quality pony would have any of those three to bing out under saddle! Good luck to everyone competing at Royal Welsh this week .. will be enjoying watching you on TV (a real treat for those of us who have never been to this show)

Just been watching the section C's, not sure if they are as strong as other years but the champions were very good looking ponies. I have to say though, in my opinion they lacked a little bone for Royal Welsh champions. Also the judge, again in my own opinion was a little too happy to place obese section C's, of which there were many. Blethyn Bobby Dazzler and Dukehill darcy looked lovely, definitely the best behaved class of any of the entire welshes!!!

The judging of the section B's was appalling. Although some good ponies won. She appeared to be completely facey, which meant she ended up with so many different types. I cannot begin to wonder what she will do with the adult classes. It would be impossible to predict what she will go for. I guess it will depend who the handlers are. On the other hand, I understand the number of entries have exceeded recent years. How sad it seems, that it took an overseas judge to boost the numbers. It just shows how fed up people are with judging and why section B classes are getting fewer entries.

The A youngstock are tomorrow morning (Wednesday).
There are record entries in the Ds and no foreign judge there, and also huge entries for A classes too.

I watched a bit of the section A's this morning before work. I couldnt believe how many A's didnt move and also how fat some were which may well have contributed to the non movement.

Thought the Section A judging was a real shock! He didn`t go for anything you`d think he would - he breeds colour, went mainly for greys, likes mover, many of them didn`t move! No consistency in type at all! A real cock up! Did like the palamino Shamrocklake mare and foal though! Honestly think this judge was going on which ponies the crowd cheered loudest for! Really disappointed with the judging...and before anyone says it, no, I wasn`t showing!!

I think that the B entries were so big because everyone has been saying that they weren't going if there was no medal and they all entered in the hope that nobody else did!!

out of curisoity and as to lazy to find sched who are judging i know the b is the controversial american lady but who doing a, c & d, must admit many of the a stallions looked fat & rolly and hardly any move through from behind !!!! Loved the c mare and that should have been champ, Nebo rachel has anyone else heard the ruomour on saddle soap of a d mare being destroyed in her stable at RW due to a virus hope its not a nasty rumour ??
