Thanks everyone And both me and pony loved it, who cares about a bit of rain or mud !! When you are in that ring with the grandstand filled, the sides of the ring packed, and showing a pony who just loves to show off then it is fab in any weather. Even better when you get placed too of course !! Sun is shining now and A 3yr old fillies and D jnr stallions are in ..... Lexy

If i were you i would be far more worried by the judging in the D's, there are some nice animals but the judge is only too happy to place morbidly obese animals who dish badly and are terribly behaved! Not to mention how bad their handlers are! If they bothered running the pony up properly instead of spending their time watching it's legs then they might not all break into canter, one of the winners yesterday (colts) managed to win despite not trotting once during it's idividual! As far as I am concerned this is normal at any welsh shows with the section D's, I cannot understand how any of them can be judged on confirmation when they never run in a straight line or behave themselves, I have only ever taken my welsh D mare to two county shows inhand, the first one I was told she was too well behaved And the second one I was told she was too small and underweight, which she certainly isnt, its just that she wasnt as obese as others in her class

Overall A champ:
Ch - Springlane Pebbles (barren mare) Res - Crumpwell Luis (senior stallion)
And to think our little Floreat creme de cassis beat Pebbles at Northleach cpl weeks ago !! But nothing to say this judge would have liked her, not always been easy to tell what he will like or not.

Well i had my first visit to the rw yesterday- and wow, what a sight that main ring is. Had a lovely day- as did friends who i was with who were competing for the first time - not placed as pony looked a year younger than the competition but aim was to make it through the class and get a nice photo!

RE low entries in SHP classes - I've been to the RW with my SHP the last few years, love the show and was really looking forward to going again this year, but without the HOYS qualifier we just can't justify spending all that money to travel/B&B when there are plenty of shows much closer with a qualifier.

Hunter i loved the section a , very stunning, i had picked that out as my winner, stunning pony and manners to die for
Must say all four were beautiful but felt the manners of some were approaching the dangerous point at times, in my personal opinion
