I was a little dissapointed with the judging today in the Olyympias, I felt the judge was not consistant.
I have always thought this judge to be hot on manners, but obviously I am wrong. She did a terrible job with the cobs. She had no type/or preferance for way of going.
The connie went very well, but not personaly my type although stunning to look at.
Solo I felt would have been my choice for the ticket today, and I hate to say it as the the pony has never really been my type, but the brights C went very very well and I did actualy think he could have been in with a shot.
What I cant understand it how the A could stand reserve after it changed legs twice in the gallop and looked almost like it was going to run off with its litle jockey in the championship?
How the dales that this judge put through to Olympia last year did not get a look in and was totaly dumped this year?
The judging of the cobs was terrible, the 2nd placed pony came from the bottom of the line up, it was naughty on the go round, overweight and did not deserve the pull up at all. another cob that got moved up looked on the verge of exploding during its entire show, there were some stunning cobs, very correct with manners to burn, but for some reason they were overlooked?
I did expect better from this judge. I know it sounds like I am moaning, but I always respected this judge for awarding manners and correct way of going, but I came away dissapointed by her. But then thats nothing new in showing for you is it.
Also wasnt the ring stupidly small?

Congrats to the Maverick & co. he looked and went fantastic - you would've had the ticket if he hadn't changed legs.
Connie was gorgeous, owned the ring and was always in with a good chance.

Thanks ;D Why what was odd about it? Did you have one in there? yep Dropped a place even though she went well, but I was more shocked at what was below me that definitely should have been higher! I had people come up and say I should have been 2nd, but its showing isn't it... 2nd, 3rd and 4th were riding club standard that wrong legged it, broke into canter, shook their heads (ALOT!), leaped about However, Tara went and looked fantastic and deserved to win by a mile! What was more strange is that the hairy class looked like it was judged well!

When Rachel Bown qualified the Dales Killmanan Wizard was VIctoria Hestford riding it by any chancee? Seems odd it was dumped today especially as it looks no different.

Well done Comet and Vanessa! What a day for the Eastern Counties. Fantastic to hear that a new pony has broken into the Olympia "Club" which was getting very predictable. congratulations to all.

I think you will find that Kerry Wainwright qualifed Gill Simpsons dales for olympia last year !

Post by NLI on Jun 3, 2007 18:32:09 GMT
Last year the boy Daniel himself rode Wizard to qualify for olympia. Vicky Hesford had qualifed him for olympia in 2005.
Kerry Wainwright has had nothing to do with the dales as far as i know, either way it is totally irrelevant to this situation so why are you all talking about it?
Mrs Bown is not a facey judge - she breeds shetlands and lives Chesham on the bucks/herts border.

I think Mrs Bown was very fair i was not in any of the clases just spectating today and thought all the class winners were lovely in the championship i think she wanted the section A but he changed legs in gallop due to the shetland being in front of him and i must say although i loved the connie he is stunning i would have loved the A to have got the ticket as the little jockey is a star and has overcome a lot of health problems and i thought she rode him beautifully.
