very good fmm. Julie as i said in my original post i have a pony that occasionally overbends WHEN he does it is very hard to stop him it drives me mad but as i have said he has never ever been tied up or had any artificial aids used on him, as from day 1 he curls into hisself to avoid contact. This happens every now and then but if it is at a HOYS qualifier and you have driven 5 hours it is enough to send me insane especially when people jump to the same conclussion as you. He is a law unto hisself and god only knows why and when he will do it.

just right - you are obviously unfortunate with your pony but I don't think julie was getting at you personally in the slightest. She is perfectly entitled to her opinion, and you have responded about your particular situation which you are also entitled to do. IMO there is always a reason when a pony overbends, but not always the same reason. Maybe your pony needs his bit changed, but I'm sure a good trainer would be able to help the situation as I understand it must be frustrating. Can we please now change the posts back to more general comments.

Just right - I know exactly what you are on about, ours does exactly the same, we have tried everything and its always the big classes where he decides to do it He goes like puffing billy round the ring and there is nothing much you can do about it. He never does it at home which is even harder to cure

It was Romeo III that had a fall whilst warming up Luckily the rider was thrown away and the horse wasn't too stiff afterwards!

Does anyone know who won the HOYS M&M Lead Rein? Cui Eleanor produced by Team Harvey and led by Greer Taverner won and qualified. Class was MASSIVE and full of V good ponies. Going to be some stiff competition for qualifiers in that class this year

i don't know hunters i am afraid but believe whalton high jinks won the smalls and gentle breeze won the large. Apparantly the judge gave all the riders a piece of paper with the show on that she wanted and i think a few got it wrong, i think this is agreat idea hope few more judges do that x

I think it was Amaretto that won the ISH. Whalton high jinks small and gentle breeze the large and champion - was stunning and totaly deserved it went beautifully as usual. You coudnt get the show wrong as we were given paper with a list of ideas and told to incororate some into the show so you could do what you wanted and it said what you would get higher marks for etc, u were to do moves to suit you and your horse and depended if you pulled it off and impressed the judge.
I agree with Roseberry Highland Fling, is stunning one of the nicest show ponies i have seen in a long time and goes beatifully. Best of luck to them at RIHS and HOYS.

Results i do not think you were watching the same class as me Gentle Breeze went terrible i stood and watched the show i did not have any ponies on Sunday i went for a stress free day and left mine at home i stood and watched the SRT classes and in the smalls Whalton High Jinks went fab and was a worthy winner but the large class was a diffrent kettle of fish and i am sure Gentle Breeze won because there were a lot of other bad shows in that class

In the Olympia was it only us that noticed that if you where sat on a bay you where in with a good chance - correct me if i am wrong - but werent all the finalist, bar the connie - bay yes i noticed that to i think she was a very colour predigested judge and i do not agree with putting a pony up just because if its colour

For Gods sake ponies4me why should Gill Thompson not be thrilled to win. Everybody is thrilled to win but some show it and cheer and shout others just are thrilled inside. Do not think that producers are immune to feelings of sheer joy and desperation sometimes. They are all human and started out as competitors like the rest of us but decided to make horses a living rather than stacking shelves in Morrisons. They were not born producers. So good on you all ye who cheer for a win.

I have never heard something so stupid as "the judge was colour prejudice!
Personally watching the quality of the competitors in the championship I would have been happy to judge it, as there were at least 6 ponies in the ring that I would have been happy to give an Olympia qualifier to......
Well done Mrs Bown.......and thank you for taking the time out of your busy life to stand in a ring for 5 hours.....

I saw Roseberry Highland Fling for the first time at RIHS last year and loved him(?) from that moment onwards. I personally thought it could easily have gone champion that day. I think it is quite young so no doubt has matured more this year so I am looking forward to seeing it again later this season.
Does anyone know the full results of the SP ponies classes at Midland Counties?

I would like to point out that I am not colour prejudiced, all colours other than bay were placed in the classes, the championship consisted of 4 bays, 2 chestnuts, 2 greys (1 not forward for championship), 1 liver chestnut and a 1 black I find it amazing that certain people have to spend so much time trying to find ridiculous reasons to condemn a judge. We all have feelings and it is hurtful to be falsely critized. Because of the attitudes of certain people a number of senior and much respected judges are saying the pleasure of judging our lovely native ponies has gone and wonder whether it is worth continuing. I have always tried to give as much time to the pony at the bottom of the line as at the top, everyone has paid the same entry fee and deserves to be judged thoroughly in a friendly polite manner. Please remember judges give their time freely to judge, often in poor weather conditions for hours on end. The exhibitors invariably come to the ring for one or two classes only. The NPS is looking for new judges, please apply for assessment and training in all the native breeds and then give us the benefit of all your knowledge in the middle of the ring, where everyone is watching you!
