Why should i quit??? because of some rude comments from another forum user? yes i did open the debate, so what, at least i am above mud slinging and i don't have to resort to insulting people and their ponies on a public board. fair enough you don't like the pony, so what, others do! i admit the first two weren't my cup of tea, they are nice ponies don't get me wrong but i ust don't like greys - sorry, but i don't insult them or their connections. surely that is what your sport is about isn't it, opinions??? it seems to me that only a certain clique are allowed to have them. i will say again i liked this pony due to the way it went, covered the ground like no one's business and reminded me of sam, the driving pony my father kept. i will continue to like this pony regardless of what anyone else says, and i will not be bullied into leaving this forum, i am enjoying the debates on here far too much! it has opened my eyes to a world i never knew existed, looks like i will be swapping racecourses for showrings for the summer. Sorry pal, nobody is telling you to leave this forum but you seem to forget the true facts are that the pony is very overweight, end of! So perhaps next time you see the person with LU you could advise them that its unhealthy for the poor little pony to be so fat then perhaps it wont be open to debate on here. It may be that they are total showing novices and dont know any different, it certainly looks that way.Its the judges decision on what he puts top anyway & if he was doing his job correctly LU should have been dropped to the bottom.

Surely if he were THAT overweight he would not have found it so easy to cruise around the ring??? i saw fatter ponies than him on the day. it is obvious to me as it is to others you have an axe to gring with either the owners or producers of this lovely little pony.

George - As you have previously stated that you aren't that well educated about the Welsh Mountain Pony I think you are getting confused between someone being deliberately nasty about the pony (and there have been a few comments which have overstepped the mark slightly) and someone who is passionate about the breed. Personally I prefer a traditional stamp of a mountain pony which both the ponies at the top of the line were (these were also the judges type too) therefore LU is not my cup of tea either, not because there is anything wrong with him but because he just isn't my type. Obviously ponies are judged on many other attributes other than what colour they are and how well they move as you would have noticed from earlier classes where there were some big moving ponies forward. There are also many people who feel that the best mountain ponies are grey, this again is personal preference but you only have to visit the RW to see what colour the winners usually are (although not always the case) I don't think that 'notafan' has an axe to grind as you put it, they are obviously just passionate about what they prefer in a Mountain Pony (although I think they have made their point now)

im amazed that some people on this website think he is lucky to have done the winning that he has done, yes he is overweight but if you know the pony and the history you would know why!!! he might not be your type of animal which is fair enough but he has a great show record and he won it on his own, not having a big name or a producer show him. give the pony some credit dont just knock him because you can, every animal has faults!! some one did put £25 down at south of england about his height, they had to take him to get his height measured offically and yes he is definately 11. 3 so people being petty have giving the owners proof that he is NOT overheight. the owners have no problem with people not liking him and they can take criticism but like everyone on here would you like your someone saying that your pony wins by pure luck? i dont think so!!!

Carly as your in contact with the current owners of lu maybe you could advise them on how to produce the pony. I am sure thay would not like to be carrying this amount of weight themself so why pile it on this little pony . Maybe hes the first welsh pony thay have owned.

i do know the owners and i would never give them advice as they have achieved so much throughout the years with so many ponies and i think they do a great job. as i have said before you have to know lu full history to understand why he is so heavy its not through the owners choice! if you had known him a few years back and compared him with the way he is looking now there is no comparison you would do what i do whenever i see him, i clap and cheer as i never thought i would be able to applaude him again!!!

Seems this thread has ended up as a chat thread which includes only a few individuals going over the same ground. That being the case I will now lock it and should you wish to carry on your conversation please make yourselves a member so that you can use the pm system.
