Did anyone look at the marks? The lady who judged the shows in the m&m's (can't think of her name!) rather liked to give everyone between 46 and 42!!! Quite interesting considering so many wrong legs, bucks, etc. It seemed in some classes the more acrobatics the pony could do, the higher it was marked!!!!!

WOW!! What a fab day! So grateful to John, Greer and Martin and team for getting Mai looking and going so well. She looked a million dollars and went so well as usual. Jill and I are having to order duplicate rosettes and sashes now so we don't fight over them!! I certainly didn't expect Mai to go champion this morning when I started out - she certainly is a horse of a lifetime. Thanks also to everyone who so kindly congratulated us on our win - makes all the difference when you realise who is genuinely pleased for you when you have your moment of glory and you realise who your real friends are!

mmm. have got marks and in our class there were 4 marks separating 1st and 9th! with a show mark range between 46 and 43, and wrong legs etc definately weren't penalised at all with at least 2 not mere wrong strikes but def wrong legs for a good few strides way up there in the placings, ours was a very very strong class with plenty of quality proven by the fact that both the champion and reserve came from this section and deservedly so.
Aside of any strange marking we had a really lovely days showing, great atmosphere and fab weather!!!

Congratulations to Claire, Jill, Greer, mAI AND team - what a win!! Also to Reserve champ. and to Shem and all other winners. The large breeds certainly was an impressive class and both champion and reserve were superb. Lovely day out - even if we didn't get to compete - and thanks for the Pimms! Chloe + Mum.

There were no wrong legs in the top five in the small breeds. Very strong class few wrong legs were placed but lovely ponies. There wasnt a bad pony in the class standard very high so obviously some lovely ponies not placed. Bengad Rumex was a very worthy winner, beautifully turned out and ridden. Very well done.

OMG!!! did you just say there were no wrong legs in the small breeds- or am I completely mad??? Agree lovely ponies, and so they should be qualifying for the Royal International - however you would expect all ponies to have done a foot perfect show to be placed in the top seven wouldn't you??

Dont think he would know the front end from the back end.

If you dont know who was judging perhaps you are a bit confused about the right and wrong leg?

I watched most of the classes at Hickstead, I have an interest in this thread as I was there to watch our pony ridden by Samantha Darlington who, as always, produces our young ponies beautifully. Taking the small breeds as a prime example, in all the ponies pulled forward there were at least two who went on the wrong leg. As an aside, I was more than pleased with our result after reading the score sheet finding our pony had the highest way of going mark, although he wasnt placed
