Thank you everyone I feel like you Hatman - HG really does offer support- it is indeed lovely ;D I have high blood pressure Sagey - this has been the main problem as I was taking medication for it anyway so when this happened it was just another spanner in the works. Yes I will get start exercising much more now I hopefully won't get breathless Highill my Mum has rheumatoid arthritis and I know how painful her shoulder gets. She's had injections too. Is it an arthroscopy you're having? I don't know if that's something just for the knee joint though. I always think shoulder immobility is the worst though as we use them all the time without realising it! Starlight I am def on the wine tonight ;D Lukey this is a difficult one - I remember a lovely patient on my caseload last year who was in such debilitating pain he was desparate for a knee replacement but the hospital wouldn't sanction it due to his poor chest. Unfortunately he fell badly - largely due to the poor knee joint and fractured his hip. I really think the hospital couldn't be bothered to operate on him because of his age as they could have undertaken a spinal anaesthetic if they'd wanted to. So often the elderly are treated as second class citizens by the medical profession. i have to say I'm pleasantly surprised by your story and if he wants it and has the mental capacity to understand the risks then good luck to him

Morning all Glad you had good news LOTI. My mum is taking statins (or was) because of her cholsesterol and she has had terrible side affects. They are just playing around with her meds at the moment. There is a piccy of Percy somewhere on FC and a thread in the breeding bit but I am going to try and get some updated piccys this weekend as they are both lush and unfolded nicely! Lukey I hope that if he decides to have this op they are going to provide you with some extra help at home whilst he recovers from the op? He will be even less able to do things for himself immediatly afterwards and I hope you have contacted social services and arranged some home help. You have more than enough to do without having pinker ponkers laid up recuperating from a major op all over the place. This getting up for work is not for me you know. We're usually awake before the alarm and up and out of bed before it goes off. 6 snoozes again this morning LOL. And its freezing cold. What happended to all that lovely weather we had grrrrrrrr.

Luke, my mole man is 85 and he has a knee op this year and he is great. Saying that, he is comparatively fit and likes to get about and still do his moling.
I would put myself in his position. I have nil tolerance to pain and for me to be in pain like that would be no life quality. So if I had the choice I would go for the op, even if there are just a few years left, they can be good ones. To have a a few years in pain would not be for me.

Evening all xxx LOTI That is fantastic news ;D ;D HH We will have to start calling you bionic woman! xxx Took hubby's Uncle for a hospital appointment today... long story but, He is 81 this year He has MANY medical problems, but they are going to give him a new hip They have told him today that with all that is wrong with him, he is very very high risk!!! He still said yes! He has been in a wheelchair for 9months and they have said he is unlikely to ever walk again, but it will take the pain away!! They said he should here from them again in about 8 months time! What do you guys think? Shoot him !

I got really excited this morning there was a spit of rain, almost felt it, then it went . It's still so windy as well, the ground is getting cracks big enough to lose a shetland in.

Haggis that sounds a nightmare - to be honest we've had quite a fair bit of rain up here over past couple of weeks but I still wouldn't say the ground is soft - all bodes ill for hay and straw prices doesn't it? Good luck tonight Hatman - now I'm on the road to recovery I intend to get some weight off too
