Way out. Gone out to judge on a subsidised flight. Had a hectic season and deserves the trip.

There are several more mags now including Horse Deals, Horse Scene, Horse Shows and Stud Book annuals for the Welsh and Riding Ponies. All have stunning graphics. The photographs are far above ours.

Have a look at the website www.horsedealsmagazine.com.au and the first page of the ponies section. I know as part of this discussion it was generally felt that adults should be allow to show ponies (plaited) under 14.2 in the UK but there is a great photo of a 12.2 there that demonstrates very clearly why some discretion should be used as to the height of the person who rides your pony. (Actually I think the pony was competing at dressage, not showing, but the gist is the same). I don't want to come across as mean and I am sure it is a lovely pony but the photo did make me chuckle.

I agree- adults should be allowed to show ponies and restrictions should be based on height and weight of the rider rather than age.
Lets face it many ponies, especially the smaller ones, are schooled at home and worked in at shows by an adult anyway. Additionally showing classes are about the pony not the rider.
Yes an adult has more experience maybe with superior ringcraft skills etc than a child but, in respect to the BSPS its a pony society not a "young rider on a pony" society. A pony can be judged equally well on its suitability to carry a child regardless of whether it is actually doing so when judged.

You talk a lot of sense. Agree totally, it is time BSPS looked into adult classes. Like you say most are ridden by adults anyway the only difference is they are put in the ring with a child on top. Also with adult riders who are maybe more capable would we see a change in the ponies in the ring ie a pony with more sparkle as the safety issue for a child has been taken out?
