is that really so, i must say i disagree totally! i watched and i though that most riders did their ponies justice and quite afew rode beautifully(the young riders were brilliant). most ponies behaved and went lovely. 'if the "true profeshionals"(sp) were so much better, why wernt they there!! or sent the ponies to show??'

I would just like to say that we can all be judges outside the ring and comment for or against the results of a class. BUT you must remember the judges right to exercise their personal opinion of a pony on the given day. Katy has been rewarded for her excellence and talent in producing a beautiful pony to win this championship. She should not be subject to bitterness or jealousy. As everyone has been saying on this forum, Olympia is the creme de la creme of M & M showing. Can people not just respect the judges decisions as their personal choice from such high class company? WELL DONE KATY! What an amazing achievement!

I didnt see any of the ponies, be me thinks from what is being said that the pony that won is not lame but just unlevel and 95% + of ponies that look like that have a bad back and an ill-fitting saddle. Bet it was right hind!

I also thought Mai was really hard done by - can't believe she was given such a low show mark. I couldn't see what she had done wrong and thought that if she had a good conformation mark she could have won it!!! Her saddle is where it should be - she has just got the most amazing front that it looks too far back and she IS a mare so could be forgiven for not being short coupled. She didn't put one foot out of place the whole time she was in the areana, and I can't believe where she ended up. Her conformation can't be that bad as she had the fourth highest mark on the day.

Mai went like we are all told all the time how a Native Pony should go. Happy, forward going pony on a free rein, not over bent, being grabbed at or over-ridden. Her paces were natuaral and fluent. I can't see how K Wizard or the Sydenham cob got better marks for their shows or any of the others placed come to that. Katy Carter produced the B brilliantly to have won Hoys and Olympia by the age of 5 is incredible. Will he go out in hand for the Cuddy now?

Amazed !! so you think that on mai the saddle is in the correct place ? it must have an 18 inch saddle on and the girth must be 4 hands with back. jj put it through as he was never going to put something better than his own through. and if personal choice came into it look at his rides thats his personal choice unless you think mai looks like forget me ?? His ride is big, but that is bigger clever bloke. She went round in a nice outline though. But the B was so wide behind as the extended trot was forced hence wide behind, un-level ! she sits like a princess and looks fab well done but its a very big B. For me the two that were robbed were solo and pearly king now that pony can trot !!!!

I must agree about Pearly King, he certainly gave a very nice show. I think all the Ds were caught out by Solo going first because he had such nice "off the floor" paces that the rest looked flat in comparison. Mai gave a very nice show, but it lacked extravagance and Ds are expected to have a more extravagant action than some other breeds. Looking at the ride marks it seems that the judge gave lower marks to shows that lacked energy.

Solo was the one for me! But to all the people with there cameras and videos proving how bad people were riding please ask yourself 'why are they competing at olympia(the biggest M&M event of the year) and im watching and winging from behind a camera! Well done to everyone. getting there is good enough.. Merry Christmas XXXX

I just watched videos of some of the individual shows someone has put on youtube. The winner didn't gallop at all or even attempt to. the sec C BOB rider was constantly at it's mouth by the looks of it as its head was going from one side to the other. One of the Dartmoors and a Welsh A did awful shows which was reflected in the results but how do ponies like this qualify in the first place, I am gobsmacked! The Shetland did a nice well executed little show but I don't think he was ever on a level playing field there, having shown under both the judges a number of times its always been noticeable to me they have a bias against Shetlands. This is a link to one of the videos, you can watch them all by clicking on More from this user. www.youtube.com/watch?v=gnXBCt6LIb0Thanks BTW to the person that is putting the videos up if you are reading this. It's really nice to be able to see the shows for those of us that weren't there, much appreciated

Like Sara i too would like to thank all of those who make Olympia possible, the staff at NPS, helpers, judges & of course Baileys who make the championship so special, it must cost them an awful lot of money as the rugs alone are over £1000. I had a fantastic day & am extremely proud of my pony. Anybody who has been in this sport for more than 5 minutes will know that you do not come to championships such as this with any pre-concieved ideas, you come to do your best. You compete in the most artificial situation that cannot be constructed anywhere else, thats whats gives championships such as these the "surprises". To all the critics, i look forward to seeing your ponies in there next year. To my fellow competitors, thankyou for a lovley day, well done & have a fab christmas; we can all relax now & finish our Christmas shopping ;D

Had a really good day and enjoyed watching.
We sat at the end where the ridden show was done and Mai had a little hiccup as she went onto the right rein in canter...i dont know if it was seen by everyone but as she headed towards the crowd on the rein change it looked as if she wasnt sure which way she was being asked to go and wobbled a bit before the right canter lead. Maybe the judge did see this.
Our group chose what we thought was gonna be the lineup from their shows alone and they all got placed.....we saw nothing of the confirmation....too far away!!
Well done everyone for qualifying and keeping the ponies looking so good.

Had a fab day at Olympia ...thought the top six were pretty fair , not necessarily in the order i had picked , thought Charlenes should have been higher and Pearly king and Waxwing paint box should of been in there too . Didnt put Katys into my top six , but looking back was lovely pony , well turned out and moved beautifully...unsure about the unlevelness ..could be the white sock and the speed that made it look this way :)Got to say that Ri stood out a mile against the other connis ! Well done everyone !

Videos are fab - wish they had shown more on Sky etc than just showjumping.
Did anyone see the VHS championships? I know someone who competed and it would be nice to see a video of that if one was taken?

Hiya,
i'm the one with the videos, so far all b&cs and most of the small breeds have been uploaded. They take about 15-20mins to up load and with an excess of 35 to upload - it's taking a while as you can imagine!
You can click the link someone else posted and click on 'more from this user' to the right of the frame to see the rest of them that have been uploaded so far.

Mnay good ponies out there yesterday however Few were ridden "beautifully". Charlene, Jane Weller and Isabel Barr set example. There were many many pairs of set hands, ponies overbitted. Some riders were not using their legs, others were flapping like CanCan dancers and our video shows some were rising so high that you could see the spectators at the other end between them and the saddle. Very good thing the NPS are looking into Teach Ins but it will be interesting to see who attend. Must say Samantha Roberts was one of few who did her pony justice running up. M&M kids should go and watch the Hunter and Hack pro's and really learn how to show. how did lucy craven do please...........

I think the ride judge should be sent a copy of the video, surely a pony should gallop in its show.

Just have to add the following. I can only surmise that the ride judge gave Mai such a low mark as the conformation judge had pointed her out and Mrs Nelson obviously wanted one of the others so gave her a low mark to make sure she didn't come anywhere. Can't think of any other reason why she got such a low mark for ride - conformation mark was fourth highest so Miss Rennie obviously liked her! She can't have that bad conformation to have won what she has this year and to get the fourth highest conformation mark of the day on Monday!

Lucy's Highland looked fantastic - the best I have ever seen it. It's coat, condition, turnout and performance were fabulous and a real credit. I thought the standard of turnout and behaviour was even better than usual. Shows that stood out for me were Drumacre Lloer Solo, Townend Hamish, Ben Macdhui of Gorstan and Waitwith West Wind, but there were lots of really good shows and some excellent ones with slight hiccups. I really liked Sunglow Lady Paula, Drogheda Pearly King, Pennal Calon Mai and Shilstone Rocks Snowfox's way of going too. And the Shetland. The winner must be a heck of a good pony to beat all of these - many congratulations to all connections!
