Does anyone know who won the first ridden (M&M) at Bucks County? We have the trophy from last year and want to pass it on to them? The plan had been for a friend who was due to compete to take it with him to the show but he went down with Swine Fever the day before and we were stuck at the champs. Feel terrible as its a lovely cup and I know how lovely it is for little ones to be presented with their cup in the ring. Will make sure cups are returned before show date in future. We are going to Moreton on Saturday so could take it there. Thanks

Simonswood Riding Club are still waiting for perpetual trophies from 2008 to be returned. An agreement form was signed by each competitor/parent when receiving the trophies saying that the trophies must be brought back by the August show (23rd August) or 10 points would be deducted from each class entered that season and £10 would be billed for the inconvenience of chasing trophies. The majority of the competitors who have not returned trophies have not become members this season. We have name and shamed them on our website in hope that they will come forward. Recorded delivery letters are also being sent out today giving them extra time to get these back before further action will be taken.

I think its a shame that we have to go and chase TROPHIES.so this year if are's are not returned and i or we have to go chase them we are charging £5.00 a trophie for pickup does anyone think this is fair as it's our time and money wasted and we will name and shame on our website

We have named and shamed already. Two weeks past the deadline, if we do have to knock at peoples doors we will be charging £10 to cover petrol costs.

Last year the Old Berks Hunt Supporters Club Vale Horse Show Committee decided to only award trophies in the show jumping classes (11) and the showing championships (6) because the showing winners were so bad at returning the cups and trophies the previous year, despite there being a £10 deposit on them. So this year there are only 17 to be returned (should have been by 1st August) and STILL we are having trouble in getting them back. They are, as follows: The Pitman Championship Shield - T. JAMES - Glamour Boy - from Tetbury, Glos. W P Hine & Co Trophy - F. PLUMB - Stoak Tanya - Longcot, Oxfordshire The John Thomas Perpetual Challenge Cup - JANIE WINFIELD - Farm Hand - Chilton, Oxfordshire The Peter Deal Trophy & the Patricia Barratt Memorial Trophy - HELEN KINGTON - Brostaig Ort - Lambourn, Berkshire. It is interesting to note that all these cups were won by showing exhibitors rather than show-jumpers. The John Thomas Trophy is particularly important as it is awarded to the highest-placed OBH Member in the Open Working Hunter class and we don't want to disappoint anyone. Please PM me if you have any news. Link to the show: www.oldberkshunt.co.uk/events.html

You would really think that a pro rider would have the good grace to make sure the pot goes back! Even if they win it again !! I had to chase my owner for cups its not in my job description. I start early to make sure I have them or if I have a bad owner and I have signed for it. I will hold it and return it. Its not fair to anyone if the dont give them back

I empathise with Show Secs. that do not get cups back. My daughter missed out on a Llanrhidian cup some years ago because the person did not bring it back despite being contacted by the committee. I, however have managed to loose my records for last year so if anyone has a Dulias Aalley Cup!!??!!

you would not believe the excuses some people come up with, when you have over 60 trophies to get back for a show YOU HAVE HEARD THEM ALL to ring all those people at least 3 times costs a fortune in time and money, and some are very 'put out' when you get shirty with them...!!! after the 4th conversation !!! it is a thankless task , but they would be the 1st to complain if the trophy had not been there for them to pick up ... there i've had my rant for this year, and if your trophy is not at the Lanc's Champ Show on Saturday its not for want of trying ...BELIEVE ME..

We have had to purchase a new trophy at the shows expense because this person did not return the trophy to us and did not even volunteer to pay for the new one.

We have our show on Saturday and one lady who had won 3 of our perpetual trophies hasn't even bothered to contact me despite two letters. And her telephone number is unobtainable. One of these trophies was donated my the partner of our late MFH who died from cancer leaving two small children and he was one of the founders of our show. How do I tell his partner that I no longer have the Cup?

I've been reading this thread with mounting anger After two letters and three phone calls we still haven't managed to shame: Mrs Ingrid Reid with 'WOODY the THIRD' from Carlisle!:into returning our Trophy for the Best of British Events!! The Show has been and gone and selfishly she has prevented this years winner from receiving the Challenge Trophy. She was the first to complain at last years Show when things didn't go her way but hasn't the decency to return my calls or respond to the letters much less send the Trophy back I was foolish to think I was the only one struggling. I am not worried about NAMING and SHAMING because I've spoken truly!!! To keep a Trophy that doesn't belong to you is no better than THEFT in my eyes...........DISGUSTING BEHAVIOUR!!!

Many years ago I attended an Auction in (Wentworth Surrey, no longer there) they had the Supreme Champion Ponies of Britain Trophy it was huge, on offer, part of house clearence and as it was silver worth a few quid... I contacted Glender Spooner and the trophy was returned.
Sadly if a person passes, the family usually non horsey dispose of their effects and have no idea, who to return to, so they sell the trophies.... So put a sticker somewhere on the trophy return to: or engrave it on... that solves that problem happening again.
If you ever see any Trophies from Thorpe Park Shows, Surrey. They are stolen, as all were perpetual... and friends of ours would like them back 60 in all, They are recycling to other shows....

A trophy at Warrington Horse show in 2009 was won by quite a famous owner and he hasn't returned it to the show. I think all the shows should name and shame all non returners it's wrong to keep the cups, they are only on loan to you and the man in question here has plenty of money from what I've heard so can afford to post back or buy his own cups, the funny thing is his producer lives 20 minutes away! Very poor in my opinion!

I'd agree with this. With ever rising costs, we as show organisers cannot afford the bank charges that go along with the dishonoured cheques. Lets name and shame THEM too!

I do remember someone suggesting that a while ago and being shot down for it. It's just struck me that we could do this in a roundabout way, what about a stickied thread for show organisers to add their details? Then if there's a bad payer or someone that show organisers need to know about for another reason, you could PM all the people on the thread? That would do the job I think?

there are some mean sods out there, i know is not right but could you all not ask if anyone out there will donate or sponser you shows so you can all buy some more id happily buy one, then charge £10.00 each person ask for proof of id state that in your schedule, and tuff if they cant afford it of did not know when they get to the show, you can send it out after the show when they pay up including the p/p just a thought. how much would it cost to by a trophy.

We are having our presentation evening on Saturday 27th. I seem to have spent a large percentage of my spare time on my phone trying to get people to return our trophies. Yesterday evening the chairman and myself went out on The Great Trophy Hunt. We returned with only one as four others were 'having them engraved'. I also had a blazing row with the mother of an ex member who last week had promised to reurn three trophies at weekend. She hadn't so I rang her on Monday evening and she informed me they had gone to the engravers that day! She was so rude I just cut her off. She rang another committee member yesterday to complain that I was not prepared to listen to her abuse! I don't know if we'll ever receive the trophies back from her, she would not like it if her daughter hadn't had any trophies last year because of someone elses thoughtlessness.

hi so far we have won classes which are supposed to have some fab cups etc with them, only to find they havent returned from the previous year. It is so unfair, i think the worse is the dartmoor breed show, we won the best rider trophy, did nt get it despite the very well known previous winner promising to send it! they did put my riders name on it after they had kept for the extra year, big deal. Im even a member of the society , the poor lady who is in charge of the cups kept on at the concerned person, many thanks to her for trying.
