thats pretty one i think bigger centres are nice as they make it look better, we choose the knife pleat for NDHS as they dot squash and are easy to iron if get bent
Derby uses the looser pleat and they do tend to squash alot easier, im sick of the site of rosettes in all honesty, what with boards and boards of out own winnings pinned on the walls up the stairs, Notts Derbys all boxed up in the spare room, derby counties boxed in the lounge and a huge box of recycling ones aghhhhhhhhhh seeing them in my sleep x

Our RC does the most amazing rossettes three tiers with silver or gold sparkle and stars shapes, having bought rossettes myself you can get the three tired custom made ones for £1.05 which is not a great deal of money when you are paying £9 to enter the class - that leaves £8 to spend on other overheads. If you don't put dates on the rossettees then they can be used for other shows in the future if there is not enough enterants in all the classes for all the rossettes to get used up.
It costs £30 to enter my local county show and even though there is prize money I think that they could afford to spend a larger proportion of the money on rossettees bearing in mind they are also getting income from spectators coming to watch as they have to pay and trade stands exhibiting also pay. However there is some prestidge even with the small rossettte if the name on it is high status!
One local show I know charges £9 to enter, they don't have to hire any venue as they are an equestrian competition centre and the rossettes are one tier, there is no prize money either.

I absolutely LOVE to win the proper old fashioned prize cards - have a couple from surrey county and they are much much better than the rosettes they provided - even the champion one.
As brindlerainbow says - us rosette makers would love to make up orders of super dooper big rosettes all the time, but at the moment all everyone wants is the cheapest and can you undercut my current supplier. Personally I dont go there, but there are many that do - unfortunately that is one of the ways that the quality of the rosettes goes down.

I dont mind what the rosettes are lke as long as the quality and size are reflected in the entry fees .

Agreed with Cayo. Sometimes id ont want give up the really rubbish rosettes, because i kno wthe cost me £45! lol. Better rosettes should definatly be reflected in the price especially when there is no prize money.

I have to say a rossette is a rossette to me. Since maybe I am not so used to winning them all the time that I cherish the ones I do get no matter what they look like I have yet to come across one i didnt like

I'm just happy to get a rosette sometimes, regardless of what it looks like. Its the placing on it that matters to me, not the apperance X Modified to correct spelling

Bakewell always gave rubbish rosettes (unless they have improved recently). Surely riding clubs/local shows are on a much tighter budget and don't charge the entry fees that the bigger shows do - and yet the majority give fab rosettes.

I think it just depends where you go, it is abit disapointing though when you have paid alot for a class, and get rubbish rossetes. But others are so lovely

Please dont blame rosette makers for small, cheap rosettes - we supply what is ordered and generally with very little time. We then have to wait (sometimes for a very long time) to be paid! I love to win rosettes - My personal pet hate is to win a rosette with the pin squashed flat to the back - the whole rosette will fall off before I get back to the horsebox! We make superb quality rosettes and sashes and charge a fair price for them - I like to make sure that my staff get more than the minimum wage - I feel that is only fair if they do a good job they should be rewarded for it. Shows are increasingly struggling to break even - lets hope that the days of the large rosette is not gone forever. I totally agree with sidesaddlelady, she makes our section champion and supreme rosettes and sashes and they are just fantastic! One thing we like to pride ourselves on at our shows (In the Spotlight Corporation) is lovely rosettes. As a competitor and a show organiser we understand how important lovely rosettes are. If I'm honest, you struggle to get me to hand over the rosettes to the winners as I want to keep them for myself! Lol ;D

Yorkshire HOYS give out incredible rosettes AND sashes. Two sashes are awarded per class!

Local show I go to for SJ is terribly priced for the rosette you get. £12 a class and its a 2 tier rosette. I entered combined training it cost me £25 and I got the smallest rosette and trophy ever for winning.
Local shows I've been to always have fabulous rosettes. Show Team and The Grange are real value for money.. And i've not heard any complaints from last year or thos year about Brookheads. We do try our best and Brookhead do give out sashes to our ring champions at each show.

The agricultural shows are the worst The best ones we have are from the Festival Of Champions, there sashes are fab to , also the Scottish supreme showing championships, they were fab tartan, long tails with a little bit of of heather on them it's so nice when they make the effort.

I definately think that local RC shows seem to give out the best rosettes, Prestige give amazing huge rosettes, Foxes riding club also give amazing rosettes out, they are always unusual colours/patterns and worth winning, Brookhead and Abram give out lovely rosettes and none of these shows charge a fortune to enter, between £5 and £6 per class, however Bold Riding Club is a complete rip off, single teir poor quality rosettes at £8 per class I was also suprised at the quality and size of the rosette that I received at Warrington Horse show last year. It definately seems that the shows with higher Qudos ie county level shows, big qualifiers have the worse rosettes. I love receiving a rosette and they take pride of place all round my horse box during that season and then are packed away carefully at the end of the year, with the very special ones being displayed on the wall ;D

I got one recently that was total pants, the worst I've seen in a long time. The centre has no indication of the show it was won at, just a gold transfer in the middle with lots of the gold missing, and not even a placing on it. They were all the same, green and gold and no clue where you got it from or what place you got, I'd have been well cheesed off if I'd won, I suppose being 4th and the fact it was partly green had some relevance, but come on, my entry was £12 and that was the best they could do. The only saving grace was it was our little riding ponys first time being ridden away from home and doing her first ever dressage test and she was such a good girl and that was what it was all about for us.

I agree that we as rosette makers only supply what is ordered but if secretaries shopped around for best rosettes for price competitors would see the benefits. Alot like to stick with companies they know. I agree that there are some crappy rosettes out there

Also to add that £1.05 is quite expensive for 3 tiers and printing centre and tails. You should be getting outstanding rosettes from some brilliant suppliers for less than that Especially if you are a regular customer

Showteam rosettes are the best !!! Heather there makes fabulous ones !! one I won for the jumping last year was bigger than my horses head ;D ;D Went to one affilated show once and my son got a 4th... we paid a higher entry than local and the rosette was rubbish... not beacuse of its small size ...dont mind that...but it just had "4th" , written on it , that was it ..so no indication that the show was an affilated one ... And my first ever" first " on my big mare jumping... I was so chuffed to win... I keep special moment rosettes like this moment...this rosette took the biscuit for being the worst .... there wasnt one... you got a tube of smarties instead ...and the entries werent cheap ... I had papped myself jumping that course it wasnt small , and she won ....no rosette ..

I agree! The quality of rosettes is slipping! I think it's important, especially for the children and people who are new to competing, to have nice rossettes. I've still got my first ever rossette (a 4th out of 4 in a handy pony!! LOL) but I was SOO proud to win it and it is beautiful.
It might be somebody's 400th rossette that will be shoved in to a bin liner along with the rest, but it might be somebody's one and only rossette that they will be proud of for the rest of their life.
