Usually it is the bsps/qualifying/RI shows that the rosettes aren't as good but we went to bsps area 4a on Sunday and the rosettes were beautiful! And the sashes were gorgeous!

I will never forget the rosette we got at an agricultural show in North Wales last year. It didnt even last the go round when my daughter won and she came out and it had fallen to bits, the tails fell off. She had to pin the ribbon together.

completely agree almost an insult considering they don't have to hire the venue and charge £9 a class. The last time I went which was I admit a couple of years ago they were giving one tier rosettes. our RC gives three tier rosettes including three tier specials so everyone goes home with something and it manages to make a profit. Patchetts rosettes are the worst I've come across!

Yes i live in Wales and alot of the big county and ag shows the rosettes are appalling considering the money you pay, Anglesey county awful, Many more champion rosettes look like 2 tier naff things. Some riding clubs are tons better. so spend some of our money and give at least the kids some nice enough to display on their walls.

My local riding society does the most amazing 1sts and £6 a class to members. I've put a massive picture of them up here: horsegossip.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=events&action=display&thread=88340(don't want to clog up the thread!)

Well over the moon with being placed at Cheshire County today, but how disappointing are the rosettes I have never been placed at a county show before so was very excited to be placed and although the rosette will take pride of place because of its significance, I have definately received better at local riding club shows for an entry fee of £5 per class!

WE won at Bath & West a few years ago, cheap nasty 2 tier for the class, slightly bigger 2 tier for Reserve Champion, and £17 odd entry fee! seems the bigger the show the smaller the rosette!
BUT at Royal London we give 4 tier rosettes with gold tier and tail, down to 8th in all classes, and I have now made 600 specials!!!

I remember doing a combined training over the winter. We won the Dressage section then won the actual combined. It cost me £30 to enter and I got 2 tier rosettes and the smallest trophy ever that had already broken and been glued back on. Not impressed

The more local shows are far more generous with the lovely rosettes and sashes these days! When we first started showing, at the championship shows such as puk they used to give lovely, big rosettes and were very generous with the sashes! Its a shame really

Unless they've changed since we were there 2 years ago, the rosettes at the Highland Show are pure crap considering the £40-odd quid entry fee's per class !! More in some cases !!
Teeny-weeny-flimsy-cheap things.
Very poor quality for such a prestigious show ! One of ours had fell to bits before we'd even got home.

Apparently, the argument is that as there is prize money, the rosette is just a token gesture. To be honest, the RBS champion sashes are a bit dull too.
