Hey if they feel like that they were never friends in the first place. Your REAL friends will be genuinely pleased for you.

My daughter joined pony club when she was 6, and from then i experienced the most dreadful jealousness and bit*hyness. Our little pony could jump a house and was fast against the clock, and only ever ONCE was she asked on the team, and that was a last minute decision cos someone dropped out. The reason? We showed him as a worker and did very well. Our pony went on the bit, in an outline and was always turned out, even at rally's, immaculately. My daughter was taught to ride "properly" and didn't flap her legs about or sit like sack of spuds. The other mothers turned their noses up at us, the click would huddle together with their stupid little wicker baskets full of cakes and flasks of tea, sucking up to the DC and brown nosing the showjumping or ppc trainers. Our pony wasn't perfect by any means, and if he was naughty at a rally they couldn't wait to comment, i even saw one mother laugh when my daughter fell off!!! Jealousy is a terrible disease. As for friends, my daughter is my best friend. We had very similar experiences with Pony Club and although we tried to get 'involved' we would always be treated as outsiders because we showed and we were 'different! We were 'told' to support our P/Club show and did so very successfully only to find that afterwards my daughter was ignored! It was probably worse than your average 'showing bit*hiness'. We took a lovely pony to camp who was beautiful but not an easy ride although my daughter rode him very well. He did get her off once and I was told that sooner or later I would realise that a show pony wasn't for her

Hi Everyone, I am so cheesed off i have been at are yard for 4 years now and made so great friends, but we had a new lady come with her kid and little lead rein pony and we all got on but my so called good mate started to make great friend together, they ended up getting a horse together that the got even,to they payed half eachbut then my friend never liked the way the women rode and that she was taking her child out riding at the same time, she slagged the women and the child off to everyone and we all felt sorry for her and startednot to have much to do with the new women (that was wrong)so my so called friend mad her life hell and as she is in with the farmers she got her kicked out and not in a nice way she had her notice a letter left on her door and my so called friend opened it and it was then i saw her true colours but the funny thing is now they are best mates :oand they have turned on me and i really think that the women thinks it was me that got her kicked out i so want to tell her the truth what do you think?

i had a family who i thought were my friends. They were there through ups and downs and I entrusted them with my horse on loan. Their care for the horse and the way they were with me made me think how lucky I was. I asked them if they wanted to buy my boy and they said yes. We agreed a date for payment but the date had to be postponed on numerous occasions for many reasons and i was quite happy with this as i was so happy with the home. A few things happened to me personally which resulted in me asking for payment of the horse to be made at the end of this season - a full 12 months from the original date - and that if no payment was then made i would understand but need to take the horse back once they had finished the season. The horse was promptly returned to me and the family have not spoken to me since. The daughter - who was my friend does email me occasionally but does not speak to me if her family are around. Various rumours have gone round that i snatched the horse back, that i was cruel to take the horse off her halfway through the season, and that i took him at 10pm at night without giving her chance to say good bye when in fact they dropped him off for me. THese rumours have denied by the daughter to me and could just be a case of people jumping to conclusions and chinese whispers. I have never said a bad thing about this family and thought i was being more than fair. I am still waiting for some of my tack back as everything went with him and I dont feel I should keep having to chase it.
I was very hurt that people who i thought so highly of could act like this but then people are now saying that maybe they were just using me and playing on my good nature. I dont see how this is true as they have been so very good to me in the past.

The thing is i am still there and so is my so called friend i said to her in a nice way that i thought she was two faced about it when she had the ladys child ride her pony everyone was so shocked to see her at our stables,i have never meet anyone like her before. We also do showing and so do they both and they always try to keep up with me but we have been doing really well and our child one and then thats when it started her picking on me but because we do puk,nps and bsps and they do local shows they both dont like it they have bort the poines to do puk,nps and bsps but cant handle not winning and as we do well they dont like it i am just so hurt by my friend .

I would find some were else to keep my pony and let them get on with it, as you have said they are well in with the farmer so how long will it be before you get notice to leave, start looking know before you are forced to rush into moving, when looking for a new place I always think it looks better to say you have left rather than you were asked to leave, I would also tell the farmer why you felt that you could not stay their when you find somewere else to go.

I am so lucky to have a great supportive family and a few great friends who I have grown up with, a couple who have horses and some who don't and we have always been there for each other . I have found in the showing world that there is so much bit*hiness and backstabbing just if you are doing well. We haven't been showing long but have always had horses. But backstabbing won't stop us as we enjoy it, we will just be very wary of helping people out in future who we dont know and just stick to our own friends who we have known years , and been through lifes real ups and downs with..not trivial stuff..that is just a hobby at the end of the day. I fully sympathise with some of the tales on here..maybe its just showing as I have never come across anything like it in other walks of life ! But we will carry on regardless be nice to people but never ever again will I trust anyone except my close circle I have known for decades! sad but thats the way it has to be. But funny how things turn out..through some recent nasty events...me and my ex have now been reunited as he has supported me fully and it was obviously meant to be..so some good has come out of something bad ...so I am glad. Happy showing everyone...and try to be nice to each other....

i made a statement at the farm yesterday and maybe i was wrong to. maybe my friends are the ones around me, those that drop everything to run me to leahurst, those who automatically check my ponies every day, those who i lunch with. Though they drive me mad at times they are the best.
oh and those that wait for me when i am late - ooppss better hurry up.
thing is life i too short to waste on rowing, if you are not happy move on.

I have to say that the showing world has definately opened my eyes up when it comes to so called friends, it has put me off showing and I don't think I will be continueing with the showing route next year, I am really sick of back stabbers and b*tching, a lot of it is like playground tactics, if you are caught talking to someone who is not in the good books then you become the bad person as well, I show on my own and try and keep myself to myself, but have definately had enough now, I really can't wait for this season to finish

Talking of so called friends, my horse was stabled at my so called friends free of charge, providing i rode for her,all was going well then within a month,my horse had been starved and about £300 of my tack/rugs were taken

gosh this thread is so true and has made me feel happier that I don't want 'friends' I am just happy with my DH and two DS and ever increasing number of ponies.
Last year when i ran over my 8 month old puppy and killed her I called my 'so called' best friend in great distress on her mobile 8 times before she answered, when I told her what had happened she shouted "what the hell do you want me to do about it?" Needless to say we are not friends anymore!! I prefer my own company!
Thanks girls you have been great, I like my HG friends! Anyone going to Equifest fancy a drink? I'll be the knocking on 40 one with 2 small boys!

Halfpass, you're ideal husband material:
- You're very domesticated - You have a fantastic sense of humour - You love horses and ponies - You adore the colour pink - You can fix/build/alter things - You can drive a HGV - You'd never EVER pester a girl for sex!
