Well she can't be that good if she took a novice pony to a county show when it has only been out a few times.

well going bye the way the pony goes under saddle and his track record so far i cant see what the problem is ? if she took him to local shows then people would only moan anyway !!! plus the fact not many local shows have driven shires, so how would he get used to them ? And yes i agree with black knight ''how rude '' .

blackknight (not 2 k's !!) - Carol also commented on how nice she thought the Connie was, and she would not say that lightly ! Glad Leo got his ticket though, best birthday present for my mum ever If it is as nice as people are saying, I am sure it will get its ticket somewhere else soon enough. Lexy

Miller - I was in that class at East of England also with Mrs Doyle and her stunning Connie, It was an extremely spooky ring with an awful lot going on, shires and scurry ponies and very low flying air craft. The tannoy box was also ringside with big windows that they could see themselves in, not to mention the awful uneven ground. I think your comment is very rude to a very experienced horsewoman!
I think most horses in the ring either had been silly in collecting ring or in the ring itself. My Boy went Champion and he is one of the most well behaved horses i have ever ridden in the ring but this ring even lit him up with all its goings on.

I am sorry you think i was rude, I was just giving my opinion on what i saw on the day and what i think a novice pony should be asked to do.

Miller at the end of the day every one is entitled to there personal opinion and thats yours !!!!
Also i find this thread very amusing, firstly we comment on a pony that lots feel shouldnt of been in a novice class and people get titchy and state that they are doing nothing wrong and people are apparantley jealous, then you comment on something /someone looking a novice and you are rude !!!!!
So at the end of the day i would say dont bother anymore on this certain thread giving your opinion as you will get shouted down either way as some people are not prepared to listen to others views, sad really as i thought we were all entitled to our opinion on Horse Gossip. i notice you are new to this site but please dont be put off and do continue to post your views on other threads ,

I Stewarded in that ring at the E of England the previous day and would like to say a lot of the entries spooked in the same place as the door to the comentery box opened there, plus the reflection in the glass window of the box, the the added factor of the jingling of the heavy horse brasses was enough to unsettle all but the most seasoned campainer. I also saw Connemara pony do its show the following day, and its main problem was beside the commentery box , as far as I could see and I was about 20-30 ft away at no time was another competitor hampered and he was put well down the line far away from other entries. Most judges if there is enough space and there is no danger to others will ask the rider to go to the bottem of the line and say although they are unlikely to be placed and they feel they are safe to do so they can continue. No one wants any equine to think if they are naughty in the ring its a way out. As I said that ring seems to be a "spooky" one, so I do not think the main reason was because it was a novice, in fact anything can be a novice in the ring even if's had a vast experience outside, and there always has to be a first time. Let's just be greatfull the've moved the Light Horse ring away from the traction engines!!! Ps An old saying. " A novice horse makes you look a novice rider", which I think unless your Carl Hester is probably true.
