It wasn't the clapping that frightened the lead rein pony but the rider on the cob that cut the corner. I thought the little girl was fab, she had practically got herself back in the saddle and then the leader helped. Well done to her, she must have been very frightened. Personally I thought the music was too loud and some of the spectators had no respect for the safety of others and neither did some of the riders. Felt a few should have been asked to leave as they couldnt control their horses. Felt sorry for the girl in the Arab class as another pony was being very naughty and spinning and backed into her horse which upset hers and it reared a few times and she came off. She had to leave but the girl and horse who caused the upset was left in and placed. I wouldnt have been very happy. The evening performance went well over schedule, we left about 11.30pm and they still had a few classes to do. All in all I thought that Bold & Uk Showing have done a good job. Bold have painted the indoor and it was a lot less dull and dark and looked a lot better. You are never going to get anymore seating in there unless they do away with the tented area at the bottom and have more seats there. Well its just a shame you don't think more about your competitors, Swapping judges to accommodate other competitors is crazy, unfair and in my eyes cheating!!!! I and others have today overheard a Mrs Ronson from UK showing quoting about judges being changed to accommodate a certain someone!!. It stinks and I feel sorry for all the people in the M & M classes today because the judge clearly didn't now what she was doing, so much so her steward was choosing the line up!!!!!!!!!!! At 15.00 a class you would think you could look after your competitors a little more. If a judge is stated and at the show why should the judge be changed, dint give me the old chestnut about interest in the ring the schedule has been on your website for weeks! UK Showing is becoming a little rough around the edges, unorganized and greedy no wonder you cant get panel judges !!!!!!! Is it all just about the money!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Ooopppsss sorry, Im not Uk Showing I was just a guest and called myself Uk Showing, sorry for the mix up, couldnt think of anything else at the time!

I was another who wasn't impressed. The warm up was just appalling. There needed to be a steward or someone to organise things a little better. I still can't understand how people thought it would be possible to canter round in there? There must have been near enough 40 horses/ponies in a very, very small arena - and just to add to things was the horrendous noise that the speaker was throwing out, making most ponies go mad. Wasn't impressed with the judging either. Oh, and the parking wasn't very good H&S wise! We were packed in so tightly that if anybody needed to get out in an emergency then it would have been impossible! We just kept thinking of the lorry fire at Uttoxeter last month - if anything had happened yesterday, there was no physical way of getting a fire engine (or ambulance for that matter) anywhere near the wagons on the field We thought the warm up was ok - we used the lower sand paddock and it wasn't too busy. We had a good day, picking up a first and a second but what really annoyed me was the noise and the amount of people in the evening watching the final placings in the indoor arena. The majority of them were kids mucking about and not even watching. When I came in after getting my daughter ready to then watch her class although I had a seat, some close friends of ours had to stand and try and see over the crowd! Then the noise, banging, whooping and stamping of the crowd was so loud I'm amazed no one was hurt in there - many of the horses and ponies were kicking off. If we didn't have a very safe cob I would have been on pins the whole time. Bold is not big enough for the evening performance of UK showing - end of! Someone is going to get hurt

we went to uk showing today, thought the whole event was a health & safety nightmare, had to drive through competitors including small children on 12h ponies waiting to go into their classes to get to the lorry park. To get to the rings we had to ride through either the stables - yes with cars & trailers/boxes driving inbetween the stables or the one vehicle track in/out. Once in ring we werent judged by the "official" judge who had lost interest probably once the last competitor had entered the ring but by the steward??? We have always enjoyed uk showing when at myerscough, didnt go last year as new horse wasnt ready, but will never go again.

I think the Judge change was because T Thomas kindly stepped in to fill in for C Helliwell as she had cancelled at the last minuite, but due to 2 seperate judges having intrests in 2 of the lead rein ponies they had to get another judge to fillin for that class.
enjoyed the weekend, dont like the venue, dont think it is big enough to hold the event. was very dangerous trying to get to the stables and the grass rings as the traffic was coming in and out of the grass field and wasnt stopping some times, which was a little annoying with children on ponies. the tannoy couldnt be heard in the grass rings. The evening performance was ok, but there just wasnt enough seating or standing. Saturday we waited for 40 mins for the ring to start then waited 1 hour at the end to be told that they wasnt doing a members championship inthe ring and all members in top 10 could go through to the members champ. Did enjoy it but do think it needs improving for next year. was pleased with little harvey 3 on winning the LRSHP and Alex for the LRSP..

i had a great weekend at uk showing, my boys behaved impeccably, especially maybrock nutcracker who has never been in an eveing performance before, i got 1st youngstock and 4th sec B with him, My A won his inhand and was 3rd ridden novice and 2nd in the open and my hubbys sec c was 2nd!! My sec b also won the ring members championship and then got res champ in the members, was very pleased,
do agree with the space thing though, its very hard to watch the evening performance, so i just didnt bother.

we had a great show, well done all at ukshowing!!! but do agree there does need to be some lights around outside in the bad weather and late finish it was lucky there wasnt an accident!!! also agree about the music being abit to loud for the evenings, i also find it completely inapropriate for people to be screaming while ponies are doing the go round, and to carry on when certain ponies go past or others are becoming unsettled is just bad sportsmanship in my opinion!!!obviously ukshowing are not at fault for peoples stupidity,i thought people would have more sense but it really did annoy me seeing this happen!!!!

We had a good show results wise- 2nd lead rein show pony with Hollybush Cabaret 1st lead rein m&m with Frongoch Trysor 1st first rideen m&m rider under 9 yrs with Pontllys Erie Warrior 1st lead rein riding club pony with Frongoch Trysor All ridden superbly by my 7 year old daughter Ashleigh, she was a little superstar, she went through to the evening on Pontllys Erie Warrior - all 3 were eligable but they share differnt parts of tack Elmo was brill in the evening and behaved like a pro without the need of calmers or earplugs. I also agree with what everybody else has put about the organisation of the show, we missed several classes as they were clashing, but then ended up waiting in the classes we had chosen to do for other people who had done the ones we decided we wouldn't have time to do! I also thought the m&m ridden judge in the grass ring was a little strange in her choices, and then heard her saying to some competitors that their ponies shouldn't go in an outline as they are supposed roam the moors!!! yes this maybe the case of unbroken youngsters, but for ridden ponies i think this was a very strange remark! We also had a very scary moment when a helicopter landed in the field next to the working in arena, i don't know if this was announced prior to the event, but as we were on our way up from the grass rings we had no idea it was going to happen, luckily our pony was fine, but hate to think what could have happened.

I thought the show was well organised and enjoyed the whole event, the only comment I have is that the evening performance music could have been lowered slightly and if spectators could control themselves, no stamping of feet and screeming and shouting for the safety of riders and horses. Maybe this could be announced before the evening performance as a health & safety issue.

It seemed in the evening performance that the more my pony bucked and got upset, the more people screamed and stamped !! I thought this was awful especially when there were very young children in there. I was also dissapointed with the many judge changes and noticed whilst stood in the line up, that the judge was just chatting to the steward while peole were doing their individual shows!!

It was the event photographer. I don't mind the venue, we had a nice weekend with meeting up with friends etc and getting the little 13hh shp out, our 12 and 13 handers both gave good accounts of themselves although weren't placed accordingly IMO, didn't realise til we got there who the judge was though Little 4yo pony coped fantastically well with 2 evening performances and did us proud I have got a few issues with UKShowing and have emailed about it but I am not willing to lose 50 quid when I know for a fact that the RC in question will amend score sheets and entry forms to make everything appear to be in order

The evening performances where very dangerous with lots of competitors thinking they where at the grand national and overtaking the winner and crashing in to other ponies, the spectators stamping their feet is was so annoying :(uk showing should have done something about it The ring was just too small to hold the peformances, and as for the judge change because the judge had some connection to the pony in the class is distgusting!!!!!!there was more than one person at the show!!!! The parking was cramped we couldnt evn get our horsebox ramp down!!!first and last time i will be going

I would like to say a big thank you to uk.showing for another fantastic show !!!

Actually I may well not go back after the complaint I have with them, I have always thoroughly enjoyed it and still did this weekend, but it is supposed to be a riding club championship and all entries should've actually have qualified to do their classes unfortunately UK showing will just take peoples money whether they have qual'd or not, if we do go back next year, I am not bothering to attend any club shows, I'll just tell UK showing we had qualified, they won't know any difference.

Caron i have to say i also seen ponies there which i know for fact have never been shown at anywhere they could qual this year, but as you said the riding clubs will alter the sheets etc so it appears that the said competitors have been there & quald but IMO this cant be helped by ukshowing if the riding clubs are fixing the sheets and handing quals out to the wrong people this is surely down to the riding clubs?!!how do ukshowing prove they havnt been there when theyve been put down on the sheets which is why i wont put an offical complaint in.riding clubs should be more honest with their quals!!!! also agree with you laura we had a lovely show as always and we will be returning just hope next time theres some more lights before the next show ;D

Well for a start they could actually ask to see the qualifier cards I emailed my entries in as I was disorganised/skint etc and paid on the day, took my qualifier cards with me to the office but was never asked for them, I still have them in the wagon If uk showing can't do anything to check up on the qualifiers then why did they ask me for 50 quid to investigate? Either they would just take my money and say they can't do anything or else they can actually check up and therefore should be more stringent before the entries are taken and finalised. This is not sour grapes on my behalf btw, I actually emailed my concerns to uk showing several days before the day of the show.

I was not competiing at the show but was there on both days, and can appreciate some of the H&S comments .I am sure that the committe of UK Showing will have noted your comments on H&S and will do their best to deal with the problems.
Some of these H&S problems were caused by the competitors
Many competitors were ignoring the signs which said "No horses beyond this point " and also standing watching classes in the area between the stall and the rings. There were numerous occasions in which someone from Uk Showing asked the riders / handlers to move - only for them to return as soon as no one was looking .
Did anyone tell the committee the music was too loud? I think they would have turned it down if they knew. I heard the commentator ask for less noise from the crowd quite a few times but she was totally ignored - I was disgusted with the people who had no regard for the safety of children or the ponies which were obviously upset by it
Caron - There were open classes with entries taken on the day and no points for Riding clubs - that is the Inter club at the September show
Leaking stables - Been there done that and its not fun -british weather not something the organisers have much control over and many of you will agree that at any of the shows with temporary stables it is pot luck whether your stable has leaks or not. We used to end up taking hammer nails string sheets of plastic etc to try and keep ours dry at PUK & BSPS. Even then we had to cope with stables which flooded.
Each tiime I have been to Bold Heath recently there have been improvements made and if this continues then maybe it will be the perfect venue eventually. Or maybe all the moaning on here will make UK showing move out of the area or give up alltogether. Either of these two would be a shame . One thing is certain -whatever they do they wont please everyone .

Im not sure about all the complaints about the noise, i cant make my mind up, i love evening performances because of the music and the cheering, i know it upsets some ponies and when small kids are involved this should not happen, but at the end of the day if there was no ceering or music everyone would be moaning about the lack of atmosphere, its a tough one but maybe would be better if the crowd could be more considreate when there is an issue with one of the ponies and try to tone it down abit!!!
ha da great show though, and with regards to qualifiers i totally agree they should be far more stringent with this, i dont know about this year but defiantely in the past i know ponies which are there representing a club i know they have never been, i dont want this to be an open but it may as well be if they arent going to keep a tight rein on the situation!!
i did however think that it was very well organised and everything seemed to run smoothly, its not fair though if a class clashes and the judge marks you down for that, however not uk showings fault!!
role on inter club!!!!!
