What a sad sad sad state of affairs this is. All because of the sheer incompetence of HOYS people are turning on each other and looking to blame. I feel for ALL the children involved, nothing anyone can say will alter whats happened. HOYS has a lot to answer for.

Right guys, can we please leave the children out of this - the thread has been left open to debate what HOYS have done on this occasion. Getting nasty isn't going to help the situation and can I remind all members that you are responsible for what you post on this site and libellous comments can get you into trouble...responding to hearsay isn't very wise.

If everyone who has posted on HG in reference to the HOYS debarcle wrote to HOYS, all at the same time, posted on the same day, with their own opinions 'good, bad or indifferent' what a lot of letters to open!! :-) think of all that experience pooled together??....maybe just maybe HOYS would see what a mockery they have made of themselves and possibly re-issue a statement. I do not for one moment believe that HOYS will change their decision, they could'nt possibly, it is not their style. However, i guess HOYS have seen their ar*e over this and are trying to hide behind technical bullsh*t and loop holes. Well where there is one loop hole, there will always be another and i sincerely hope the familes involved find it, if they dig hard enough they will. If everyone, H Gossipers or not, voiced their concerns about the debarcle, (as there will be more than enough interested people) and leave personal acusations and allegations out, it will carry more weight and credibility. All the 'he said, she said, i saw etc only helps to take the focus off HOYS and on to the poor souls that happen to be involved, hence some of the 'wonderful' comments on here about the competitors concerned. The buck has to stop with the men/women at the top. I for one will certainly be writing to express my concerns and feelings. Hoys do have the monopoly of having the show most people want to qualify for and it is such a shame that competitors are not prepared to vote with their feet. This is not just about 3 competitors, it is about every single person who competes...as tomorrow it could happen to one of us!! If a united front were displayed and HOYS understood that this is 'the straw that has broke the camels back' and it will not go away, not this time who knows??? If the situation is allowed to be just another HOYS talking point then nothing whatsoever will be acheived. I believe that now is the time for change!!

well said jump4joy!! I don't come on here that often - to be honest I don't have the time - but when I do I am amazed at the amount of back biting & bit*hing that goes on! (I know that this is life & it will always happen, but the level of it this year has escalated!)I tend to use it to ask opinions & get tips, but I have been drawn to the results post mortems page! The hoys 14hh worker result was a terrible mistake & awful for all concerned & it should be dealt with fairly, which in my opinion it hasn't been & I applaud the people concerned for taking the matter further. This aside, the amount of threads on here this year posted in relation to "unfair", "dodgy", "bent", "crooked" judging etc etc the list goes on (call it what you like) has been beyond my belief! I work full time as well as show & look after my horses myself like many others, & therefore time is limited, but I am going to make time to put pen to paper & start to write to the societies/organisation concerned & ask for explanations & investigations into why showing has become such a cut throat & quite honestly unpleasant world to be in! My point is that, what is I ask, is that instead of back biting & bit*hing on here (which takes time to type out - if you’re like me!!), you post threads which are informative & get the facts out there, then, if everyone reading & contributing to the threads wrote & complained to the relevant society about any "suspected wrongdoing", then maybe we would get some results? When I go showing I meet loads of old friends & make new every year but this year it has been very dis heartening to hear so many talk about being unfairly treated & even giving up. So, people lets get writing & take some action! Lets use our energies to do something positive rather than negative! I don’t just mean about judging - I mean the whole showing game - if you have a gripe take it through the correct channels & we may get some actions. This chat site is great but I do feel it can get personal which gets us nowhere - the point is being missed - fine, report stuff on here, discuss it, vent your anger - but then complain correctly! (ps this is off topic now as not directly relating to the hoys worker results - as they have gone down the official channels - the story is obviously not over on that one) Before anyone attacks me, I am also in fact a hoys & rihs panel judge with 3 societies so I see it from both sides. One point though - at the end of the day we all like different things - it would be a boring & funny world if we all liked the same thing. So on some days what I like for example may not be what Mr Joe Bloggs the judge likes next week, so sometimes you just have to take it - I have been through that many time myself this year with some judges having a totally different idea of type to myself. Personally when this happens I make a note of their name & don't show under them again if they obviously don't like my horse. I & we all get disgruntled when either we for example, - are blatantly treated unfairly, are judged by face & not the animal, a judge breaks the rules, shows or show societies change rules to suit certain competitors (some examples - I'm sure you can find more) this is when we need to make a stand. That’s all I'm suggesting!! As long as you are treated & judged fairly you accept the result, when we are not its time for action - don't you think? Maybe we will then all have a happier time.

It is so obvious that there is a wealth of experienced, knowledgable, articulate posters on HG. If the diologue on this HOYS debarcle is kept going and not left to go away and allow HOYS to get off scot free, then something positive may come from this unfortunate but 'i could see it coming' situation...the concerned competitors may not be able to see it now but hope in time they can reflect back and see something positive or hope that change does comes from this!! The new Showing Council was it not formed to ensure transparent and consistant procedures from all the showing societies, or is my understanding wrong?? can they not take up the case, work the 143 HOYS workers issues to advantage and take Grandstand Media to task, it should be HOYS adhering to relevent showing society rules,as the horses who enter and qualify do so under society rules, not the other way around...but i can see these issues being swept under the HOYS carpet...yet again and become just another 'Dust Mite'.

jumpfor joy and ckt22 you both have it right and i agree posters on this forum would be far better channelling their efforts in a positive way (by writing to the relevant societies) rather than the negative nastiness and back-biting
