i really respect producers. they do alot of work and the ponies are always spot on. they put alot of work into getting them that way and yes they might win alot but that could because they have the better ponies that are turned out to a much higher standard than some. they also have years of experience with horses and know what they're doing. i also remember that last year Julie T had a pony in the 13.2hh show pony class at HOYS but when they got down to the ring she was a little sore on her feet so she decided not to take her in and this year one of they're 14.2hh show ponies got cast and nicked himself at the start of the BSPS champs this year and they decided to take him home and let him recover for HOYS so they don't push the ponies to much they do whats best for the ponies and i think we could learn alot from them. That is real professionalism and to be admired, there is always another day and welfare should be paramount. It's a pity all professionals and amateurs are not so caring. It was horrible to witness an intermediate in an evening performance @ Equifest that was so lame it made me cringe watching the poor thing struggle!

xtabbyx could not agree with you more, but at a show recently a very well known producer who I used to have a lot of respect for, lost my respect when she lead two LR ponies one m&m ,one SP, won with both when one went like a complete novice and did not want to play, the other went OK, but other ponies went a lot better..It is when this happens the producers are not doing themselves any favours.Must add JT is one of the top producers who I have the utmost respect for, with a lot of others.

But Joules - who JUDGED - that is who should take the blame, not the producer. The producers are not the ones who award first place.
We don't do lead rein (well, certainly not above local level!), so have no idea who you are talking about but how can the producer be blamed for winning a class - check out the judge and blame them.

fmm I have to agree with you as well but this producer has some lovely ponies that realy deserved to win on the day.She only led these ponies knowing the judge was " her" judge (was told after the judge was facy) so I blame this producer for taking these ponies in . I will repeat they did not go well enough to win ,especially the one pony. Why do they do it these ponies have not been out much this year, she did not do her self any favours, and will agree with you neither did the Judge who judged both ponies. The producers must be seen to be responsible for thier actions as well as the judges IMO.
