It's all very well for members to complain, but as with all similar organisations, there is a paucity of people prepare to serve and ACTUALLY do something once elected! I have no solution to that one, I think it's the way modern society has gone. To quote you in part, some of them have indeed done that very thing. (Served . . . . .etc).

Dunpony has a point. The list of people that have stepped down gives cause for concern as they are all known and respected members of the showing community. There must be something wrong for them to resign on mass. Has anyone contacted any of these people to inquire why they have felt the need to stand down?

Please use your vote if you want to save the NPS it needs to be in the post on Monday . I think we need to have full disclosure as to what is really happening at the NPS and therefore I think we need to start afresh and either re elect current members or nominate new ones . The trustees that have resigned have done so I'm sure for very good reasons and are well respected members, that for me has set the alarm bells ringing I want some answers before I vote to keep the current encumbents in their current positions !!! I think as members we are entitled to that .

Foxylady is right I these Trustees have been inside and in charge for the past one to three years why have they let the society get into this state? Why should they be allowed to continue?

Can someone please let us know on here what is happening some time tomorrow. I was hoping to get down but my ponies are moving to their winter grazing tomorrow so I need to be there for that. I hope issues can be discussed and a reasonable solution found for any big problems.

didn't go myself, but the reports coming back via FB are not too promising. Offices have been sold, stud book 'temporarily gone to Wetherbys and a lot of raised voices apparently

Oh dear that sounds so very very sad. I know the NPS have had problems for a long time but I didn't realise it was that bad. I am old enough to remember the old days when people like Caroline Nelson's mum were on the committee and it was a good society which had a firm focus on improving the quality and conformation of the riding ponies and all of the native breeds. It seems to me that what appears to be the demise of the NPS is only reflective of trends throughout the whole of the showing world, where flashiness and dazzle are of a higher priority than breed type and overall soundness. If someone can convince me I'm wrong it would be a great Christmas present.

Eek, doesn't sound good. I imagine NPS Scotland will be okay as they became a separate body a few years ago. I hope it's not all lost - I love the silver medals.

Having just had a long conversation with someone who was there they have said that it's not all negative. Firstly the studbook still falls under the NPS control and it's only the admin side of things that has been outsourced to weatherbys so the passport will still have been issued by the NPS. The same for the admin for the shows and membership being out sourced to grandstand media. They did say that these are short to medium term solutions and the NPS still holds ultimate control.

I was at the meeting. These recent posts are alarmist and ill informed. The NPS will survive. They have outsourced some work. You will still get an NPS passport. If people don't join that will hurt the NPS. Wait for the NPS to release information on their site before issuing the last rites on here. They aren't dead!!!!!!!!!!!!

My post was never meant to be negative or alarmist I think (from what I've been told) that the trustees are doing their best to try and move things forward.

So have they paid off some staff and outsourced some work to try to cut down on some costs? Sad if they have, but not much different to what many organisations are having to do in the current recession.

I think it is down to personal interpretation as to whether there was anything positive to come from the meeting. The person I got news from was not very positive. On a personal note, I am not really inclined to spend my hard earned money on a society if I am not sure it has any future. I look forwards to receiving some news from NPS about how they are proposing to carry things on, until then I will not be renewing my membership, and I think I won't be the only one.

Having just got back from abroad, and unable to attend the EGM, please tell me the Show Director resigned, or was asked to. A change would have a huge impact on the future of our beloved Summer Champs IMHO.

I was at the meeting today, Very strange the Trustees said very little, meeting was taken by the consultant sorting out the mess. Many people in the audience were very concerned and a lot of people are obviously still very keen to promote the NPS and see it return to its glory. If we give up that will never happen, best to let the dust settle and keep on supporting what is a very good society

One thing that was never asked and only in hindsight perhaps this question should have been asked, how did the 'Interim Change Manager' get the job? Was it ever advertised or was it an 'out of the blue' appointment.

It has been mentioned that despite the majority of trustees objecting to the sale of the building and the out sourcing of the studbook it was done anyway. There lies the answer to the question, “why have so many of the trustees stepped down”.
