I've just been reading through the rules and noticed it stated about 2 year olds wearing an in-hand bridle and 3 year olds a snaffle bridle. My 2 year old is bitted now, but I've been using a hunter bridle rather than an in-hand as I think it suits his head better. The in-hand bridle that I have looks very fine on him. Which do you think I should use, or would it not really matter?

I dont think it really matters, the three year olds maybe going up the jumping lane, but im sure any bridle will be fine!!!! I used an In Hand bridle on my two year olds last year but thats because I show in them lol!!!!

I've entered by 2yo CB at Alsager...I know he'll probably be the odd one out, but we're just going to enjoy it What is wrong with a CB doing this, we need to show that CB's can turn their hoof to anything!

Cant remember if anything comes through the post, however the catalogues go up a few days before to give you a time and number (think times and number is usually e mailed to you) You need to get yourself a couple of bridle numbers from the tack shop which wrap round and fasten on or you can make your own, as these are not provided!!

LOL Trust me he will stick with mummy!!!! Its always a bit scary first time out!!!! They stick like glue even the most forward ones (saying with baited breath taking Trevor who has never bothered about his mummy full stop lol!!!! And Colin who spends 99.9% of his time with his surrogate mummy Silver and only nips back briefly for a snack!!!!)

No not going, I did enter Clumber but didnt take him as he didnt look good enough after running with some mares, Im a bit limited to where I can go at the minute because I only have two hour feeding slots lol (with Arthur!)
Harry was booked into Lincoln, Thursday, but again wont be going as im taking a yearling by the Irish Draft stallion on Wednesday and OH cant really have two days off work!!!!
Its not the end of the world and Arthur will come first at this point!!!!

Holiday, what discipline would be best? For a half cob!! Sorry missed this stormyskies, I would personally look at maybe eventing as that cross tends to work for that discipline, however if she has a good hind leg and some knee maybe dressage. Think we need to do a thread to say how everyone has got on once weve all been!!!!!! Good luck to everyone who is entering, I know for one I really enjoy it!!!!

Wouldn't it depend on what the other half was though? Eventing fine if TB, but what if something heavy?

Eventers now are having a bit more bone and the cob x tb are being aimed at the eventing market quite successfully. They need now to be able to jump the combinations rather than just make the speed. Eventing is now much more technical as we all know. However as ive put above if the evaluators feel the horse is in the wrong section they will suggest they are swopped, without seeing photos it is difficult to judge!!!! ;D

Sorry, I wasn't clear, I know TB x cob can make great eventers, that's what I meant, but what if the cob is crossed with say a pure ID, traditional hairy cob or something so that the result was a really heavy 15hh say? Sorry, stormyskies, I don't know your horse apart from as you say it's a half cob, just a general thought.

If two old wrinkleys dressed in white and beige wearing daughter and son's ex showing hats can show a yearling sports pony at the BEF and come away with a first premium (8.21) in 2009 I'm sure you'll all be fine!
Go for it as it can be really informative.

We're already entered - at our second choice venue, annoyingly. No idea it would fill up as quickly.
Do we have to wear hats? Any hat, or hard?

At present there is no rule to wear hats although suggested that you should wear an up to standard. However I always do as ive seen some accidents happen and youngsters can be so quick to stand up and it only takes a bad landing................. I do think it will be brought in at some point though, however I do think - it needs checking - that the three year old handlers that are loose jumping their horses are required to wear one, but im not positive on that one. The venues fill up many immediately as it opens, I tend to try and enter on the 1st June to get into a venue I want to do, im still undecided on whether to present at another but my lorry is off the road at the beginning of August for plating work and dont fancy going miles in the trailer, plus I have another mare and foal id like to take and a yearling so obviously cant take both people in the trailer!!!!!

If that's Dowland K O Bo Didley he was graded with the SPSS last year, if he does go to the BEF I hope he does well but he'll be too big for the Sports Pony Section as it states he's 153cms on the SPSS Stallion Website.

I must admit it the thought of the wearing white which is the most daunting! I don't own any trousers even vaguely white and not sure I can justify buying a pair I'll only ever wear once! Do you think a pair of beige cords would pass?
