Had a fab day at Myerscough!
Maisie went in at about 12:30 for the foal eventing section...she gained a 2nd Premium - her score was 0.04 marks off a First Premium. She behaved beautifully and took it all in her stride!
We then had to wait for Mum Phoebe to go in the 3yr old Endurance section...we went into the ring about 6:30...but well worth the wait cos Phoebe (aka Tarnbrook Tickled Pink) finished her final year in the BEF Futirty with style - being awarded a Higher First Premium and a mark of 8.55 (her best yet!!!!) Absolutely thrilled! & then found out she had Highest Score in the Endurance section.....so doubly thrilled!!
I ave awarded Zak an Elite Handler Premium, cos he was just fabulous handling both Phoebe and Maisie...even the Evaluators commented on how good he was!
Brilliant day all round!!!

Thanks Holiday....yes we showed both mare n foal loose for the mare evaluation! Although zak n Maisie were brilliant I think it would have been asking too much for the foal to watch mum flying around!! Lol It was lovely to see the pair of them moving together.

Oh well done magrat so pleased you had a very successful day and hopefully you'll go again, we need to get more and more ponies presented. Whoops just realised I didn't take one this year!!!!! How about the SPSS Annual Grading & In Hand Show at Heart of England, Stone, Staffs in October - it would be so good to meet you there and see your fab ponies?
By the way who was the vet at Myerscough - John Gilliver did it last year?

Had a lovely day at Richmond today, took my little welsh foal Poffinder First Edition aka 'Trevor' and although he was very enthusiastic, he gained 8.25 and a first premium!! So chuffed!!!!! Cant wait to see the photos as he spent most of the time galloping from one end to the other but looked like he truly enjoyed himself .

sjc huge well done and the photos are super, I think my favourite is the first one of your three. Trevor has some lovely breeding, how about adding him to The Sport Horse Database and some of your photos - hope you don't mind me suggesting that.

Have got all paperwork out for pony registration.....the dilemma I have is who to take? I have 4 potentials and 3 spaces in trailer! There is Phoebe...withe foal Misty...dam of Phoebe who is already in foal again and graded with Chaps My Millpond mare....who I want to put in foal perhaps next year...she is also chaps graded Plus I have a 3yr old section A filly who might be a possibility!!!! www.sporthorse-data.com/index.htm This is the link, you need to register to log anything on I think, but its free. It does take a bit of setting up and may take a little time as not many ponies are on there, so often takes a bit of linking back in pedigrees, but it is worth going back all the lineages and filling them in I use allbreedpedigree.com to find any blanks out!!!!!!! The more people who start using it with the ponies the better it will be!!!!!! Its quite self explanatary to add photos and new horses etc.

Thanks holiday . Is there any grading which I could do with him? I have only ever had ponies who are registered with the wpcs so would be nice to see if there is anything else I can do too.

If he is to make under 158cms he could go to the SPSS show in October www.sportpony.org.uk/ without going back through the posts I cant remember how big he is only just shot on here very briefly!!!!!

He is to make 13hh-13.2hh but after having a look on the spss website he has to have at least one graded parent.

Not for the youngstock show you would be able to bring him to that as it is open to members and non members, and you can overstamp with the SPSS if you decided to pull him forward for grading as an entire in the future as of course he cannot be presented until at least 2 1/2 for grading. It is cheaper to overstamp a colt as a foal and yearling as it doubles in cost once at 2 years old.
I am assuming you have his own PIO you are going with?

Well, off we went to Writtle today with Stan the D yearling colt and just got back - Stan was angelic (after having behaved like Kevin the teenager last night at practice) and came home with a First Premium with 8.36, and second marks in his section! I have yet to find out how many in the section though.

Congratulations that's super getting a 1st and Reserve High Score. Stan obviously thoroughly enjoyed the limelight to do so well, what did you think of it all sarahp? Looking forward to seeing the photos when they go online.

Really enjoyed it and would do it again - I think Stan was shell-shocked at his first sight of an indoor school! Thinking of trying him jumping as a 3yo but we'll see.

Well done Sarahp, i took my sports pony too and got a 1st premium. He was a little confused at suddenly being let go of and didn't understand that i wanted him to gallop about. That's the only bit we haven't been able to practice. I only have a field that has gone from concrete to a skid pan and its on the side of a hill so i didn't want him pulling anything.
Does anyone know who the evaluators were? I assume they change them each year for each venue? I may have another crack next year.

Stan is Floreat Heart of Stone, buckskin so easy to find in photos! I have a very decrepit sand school which 28 years ago when we moved in was a decaying hard tennis court, soon covered with sand, and daughter who handled him loose schools in there so he had done that bit but never been inside before.
Well done bizzylizzie, which was yours? Can't wait to see full results now, I'm used to showing when it all happens at the time, even when doing dressage results and sheets turn up when class finished.

Hello all, (Sarah's) daughter here I was handling Stan today and got him ready for his "big day" with the handling practice at home and turning him from hairy native to smart sports pony. From trimming & mane pulling a few weeks ago to mane & tail plaiting at early hours of this morning. A bit different to our normal preparation routine for welsh in hand showing! Plaiting done, bridle on and he did look very smart. I was really proud of him today with the way he behaved and took it all in his stride. The vet was besotted with him and her first comment was "Isnt he splendid!" . She gave him score of 8.8. Oh and also said he was "Beautifully produced". Always nice when your efforts are appreciated. He was good in the indoor school too, we had planned to take him to an indoor school for practice but never quite got around to it but I was confident he would be fine. He is well handled and coped well at the other (outdoor) show he went to earlier in summer. We have been looking at other results from other venues and even more pleased with his score. At other venues there were scores lower than his as the highest score in the category. The one before him received an elite with a score of 9.0 at our venue so we were in good company. Very impressed with the well organised event, and great relaxed atmosphere for the youngsters. P.S. He was number 28 if you want to look at him in photos once they are up. Looking at other events they are sorted by number.
