I was once told lovely pony with a huge amount of bone but doesn't really move well enough for a welsh! That would be because it's a new forest (i did tell the steward). Next time i met this judge i think from sheer embarrasment he put the pony top!!!

After being beaten by a pony who wrong legged it TWICE and didn't fix it I asked the judge how that was. She said she judged the class on confirmation and my mare was too slim line. I said oh i'm sorry I thought this was a RIDDEN class not in-hand. The other pony was a better TYPE than my girl but it was a ridden class and he couldn't do the basics were as my girl did a fab show.
Next show I didn't do that class on principal but said pony was bottom of the line after wrong legging it again. lol

I've had the Welsh comment as well... In the inhand class later in the day (after same judge had already judged us in a ridden class!), 'she's not quite flashy enough for a C', no, that would be because she is a New Forest! Just cause she's a bit diddy... :-)

Not the right height for a highland....Its a fell Not the best section D i've seen....Its a new forest A bit small....its a miniature shetland.
Needless to say my choice of show horse next year is for a native coloured....whats the betting I get, not enough feather for a trad comment...

nice pony but he wrong legged i my reply was, 'he didn't wrong leg it once,if he had mum would of noticed' so tempted to hand back rosette. he went the best in the class aswell, and the only 2 that i thought would be competition went really badly, and the first 2 wrong legged it!!!! and 3rd humped several times in it's show. and considering the description of class was, will be judged on type, manners and way of going!!! hwllo, should of gone to specsavers!lol then made her wait whilst we leisurely changed bit, stirrups etc. for lead reins in the next class. should remember what she watched first and why it was pulled there.

Judge told me 'pony was under height in comparison to the others in the ring'. Judge suggested next time I put him in the 'correct height' category. He was 12.2 in a 14.2 and under class.

lovely broodmare for a gelding (he wasn't even that fat) . this is a small breeds m & m for my 13.2 county standard sec b pony needs more condition for a pony I thought was obese, he had more cellulite on his bum than I have (must add I was showing him for someone else) lovely coloured cob he is a 17.2 middle weight hunter

A plaited pony at a show we went to last year won an M&M in-hand class - quite a common occurrence, I believe. My daughter in an M&M FR class on her 12.2 hh Section B - (Judge): "Do you ever plait your pony?" (Daughter): "No." (Judge): "Well you mustn't trim his feathers..." - as far as I know Section Bs don't have a lot in the way of feathers and ours certainly had NEVER been trimmed. And finally - a friend on a hogged coloured cob was told by the judge in her class - "shame about the sweet itch..."!!! Can I get a job as a judge - I could definitely come up with some better one liners???

The judge of a beginners 1st ridden who told the kids to canter together as a group and perform an extension (gallop) down the long side. When i pointed out after the class that this doesn't happen in this class and said he could have caused carnage he told me cheerfully thats what the paramedics were for and he wouldn't mind one of them entering his ring as he was quite dishy! ;D ;D Nearly as good as the lead rein judge asking us to canter at the next corner.

i did report him, it was end of season so luckily the jockeys were ready to move into 1st riddens and all coped remarkably well. He did however tell one young girl she cantered on the wrong leg (she's only ever cantered twice before!). He actually said that he had judged at RIHS and HOYS and 1st riddens have to do it there so they might as well start now. I beg to differ My heart was in my mouth the whole time along with 10 cigs and some chewed bits of nails ;D

In hand Best condition class. Judge says I had to place you second as your pony has too much muscle and not enough fat on it!!!!! This was on a 12hh sec A mare. Never went under her again.

some brill comments ;D One I remember was nice traditional sort of D but you should trim her mane - er she is a Highland?? My county wining Highland broodmare is an inch too long in the back maybe the foal stretched her What is it?? In a mixed M&M class and they had actually PAID to get the judge from Wales to Devon when told she is a highland the reply was oh we don't get many of them in Wales but you are not in Wales now
