I didnt do this show but i have a 148cms PBA and as im 24 and too old for the normal show pony classes i do the ISRT's, however where there are show pony classes with no age on them i do enter them as i am entitled to. Alot of 148cms show ponies do both the ISRT's and SP classes.

DD, as stated previously i said i am 70% sure the pony in question in the 14.2 show pony class has a height cert of over 148cms, so should not be in a show pony class.

well thats fair enough and if it has a height cert then someone should've complained about it.

I have just read through the many comments on here about the show For those of you who didn't know this show was one of the reasons why myerscough stopped holding big events due to their lack of organisation through greed at cramming more and more people in on ponies that didn't qualify for more and more classes just to boost their coffers. There is always a good standard forward in the classes but this is spoiled by a lack of organisation and poor judges in most cases as well respected judges won't return there after dealing with such a spectacle. As for the evening performances there is a lack of control and regard for safety for children, ponies etc. Looks to me like it's down the same way as the festival... all about making money and going downhill fast you are very sour !!!!!! i think people who hold a personal grudge against UK showing and other shows need to GET A LIFE. its people like you that spoil the showing athmosphere ......... you make me sick, comments like yours are not helpfull ...but im sure you already know that dont you

'ifonlyyouknew' .... i do not think it is all about making money ... my daughter missed a class and the organisers happily agreed to swap her into another class (for which she had previously qualified) at no extra charge .. and your comment about well-respected judges is a real kick in the shins for those judges who do judge @ UK Showing each year and most of whom are very well-respected judges who do an excellent job

well done to debbie eila and co on supreme on saturday. you know how much i love her. Hope corina (sorry if spelt wrong) is ok after her fall. Such a shame as was pretty sure she would have done well sunday night. Hope to see you again soon.
Tried to post a reply on my phone but not sure if it worked or not. I was over the moon with my little ex race horse on saturday. She behaved so well despite the antics of the others. she is only a baby so I'm very proud. She also behaved herself in the evening and managed to gain 2nd place. Thanks to Event Photographers for the nicest picture ever. Also thanks to everyone who helped us out with lifts home, loan of stables, grooming etc and of course to martine for all her hard work with jetski. I had a fab time at uk showing thanks to good friends.
Bad bits.
Being 2nd Jet led the others out of the indoor into the pitch black after the evening. I honestly think lighting there needs to be sorted for next year to prevent accidents.
Working in - there needs to be a steward in there. you can more or less say there was no working in for the evening performances.
Seating - there was not really enough room but we coped and did manage to see however the sheer rudeness of some people amazed me. Saturday night we did not get a seat so sunday made sure we were sat down early only for during the show pony championship someone to come and stand in the seating bit but directly in front of me so we had to listen for the results.
Rubbish - well we had a bit of a picnic with approximately 10 of us sat down eating. We made sure we removed all of our rubbish. There was not a bin close by so we bagged it all up and took it home with us. Its not hard!
Judging/Placings - Some of the judging did confuse me but then maybe they saw things I didn't. I'm not a judge so not qualified to critisize too much. Getting the placings wrong is not really appropriate. I know human error does occur but it did happen quite a lot. I know one mother was most shocked when her daughter got placed in the evening in a class she hadnt entered - the daughter had gone into the class by mistake (she is a child) and didnt know what to do once in there. Surely someone should be checking numbers as they enter. Maybe the person announcing could announce the horses name, riders name and the show they qualified at as they enter the ring?
Lastly if you cant ride your horse at a local show without having to pull out why would you feel it correct and safe to bring your horse to a championship show. Yes it is nice to compete in these events but I dont feel it is fair that it is at other competitors and horses expense. This is why accidents do and did happen.

I have to say that I thought the standard of everyones turnout was excellent and a lot of hard work had gone into every horse and rider / handler. It was the first big showing show I had evr been to see and on Saturday night I really enjoyed seeing all the fabulous cobs both hogged and traditional. They were all a credit to their owners. I am probably a bit biased as I love cobs, but I have to say I really enjoyed seeing them all. I would just like to know who won the classes as I have no idea of the placings and am just interested. Can anyone help?

like we said we havent been for the last year and this year took our 3 year old son to start his showing career, he did the novelties and loved the lead rein riding club pony, his sister sis the lr sp on out 4 year old sp, and the inhand which she loves, then was very nice and gave the ride for the lead rein shp to her little brother 3 years, only 2nd time in the saddle and he won the class and had a ball in the evening performance. so thaks uk showing for making his day we had a fab fun weekend surely that is what ukk showing is about..xx
We also have shown for years at all levels, and find that judging is just the part and parcel of the showing, everybody has there different opinions, some like duns, some bays and some greys, some prefer sect b to sec a and like wise, some hunters some show ponies... surely if we all liked the same there would be no point.. and everyone beleives that there ponies are the best in there field, if we didnt we wouldnt own them.. you just have to bite your lip sometimes and say hey ho and carry on... Publicly trying to ridicule someone is very unfair and wether you agree or disagree you should keep your mouth shut and move on to the next event

I also thought the lady in the m&m grass ring was a little strange with her comments, and also some of the placings, she had a pony who had to be run and run to get in to canter (on the wrong leg i might add) above a pony who did a really sweet show, she also said she didn't agree with wilkies being used just because they were in fashion! My daughter finished her show and did her salute, only to look over and see the judge chatting with another lady who was in the ring, and she did this through most of the childrens individual shows, the lady who was in there was being trained by the judge apparently, but what a bad exanple to set to her, i was really bl**dy angry when she didn't acknowledge (sp) the salute from my daughter. And it's not sour grapes from me, as my little girl won the m&m first ridden, and i thought she deserved her win. I saw this class, was with pony that come third and got best turned out. Totally agree about the pony that got second in that class. Yours well and truly deserved the win, well done

in response to the above post!!!!! i awarded the best turned out in the mm classes in ring 1 on sunday!!! and as i have already said yes some placing were slightly strange but the judge was looking for particular things especially in the first riddens and lead rein sections i assure you jane is very knowledgeable and explained all her decisions, if your child could hear i said thank you to each child as i even when they stopped the other side of the ring from where we were stood and in the lead rein class when parents continued to run on for longer than necessary, and if you want me to say why your child did not get best turned out it was because she had black make up on her jods !!!! 2nd place was lovely but the girl had mud under her boots 3rd place was completely clean both rider and pony!!!!! just remember every judge runs classes differently and places differently that is showing for you !!!!!!!!!!! hell had the same myself at the show with a horse that wrong legged it and got 2 nd you just have to take it on the chin !!!!!!

I never asked why my child did not get best turned out!! It was actually mud on her jods, typical kid playing between classes we don't use make up. I was appauled that the judge didn't acknowledge the salute at the end of her show, and this was seen by all standing on the side of the ring, that was my only complaint. I even said how nice the judge was to the children, she was a lovely person, just some strange placings, but as you say each judge has their reasonings for their placings.

RE Judge ring 1 Sunday (Jane McLellan)
I am very surprised by the criticism of Jane McLellan that has been posted.
Jane is a very knowledgable, respected & experienced judge who judges everyone fairly and is always very helpful.
Until you have actually been in the middle of a ring and experienced what the judge sees, may I suggest that you dont use a public forum to vent your frustration of wrong placings (IN YOUR OPINION) and not getting the right colour rossette.
Any misorganisation on the day, re evening performances, cannot be blamed on any of the judges.
For the few moans on here, Im positive there are fifty times more happy competitors that have been judged and helped by Jane.

this is the first time i have been to this show, and i must say on the whole found it very enjoyable, with our pony being placed in all his classes.what i did find with this show is that there was a lot of animals there who do b.s.p.s,h.o.y.s,r.i.h.s and n.p.s shows obviously of a very high quality, and i could not understand what they were doing at a riding club championship show i did find this most bizarre because what do you have to gain by competing and winning a riding club pony.the people i am talking about ,no need for names will know who they are,and should feel ashamed by what they are doing.riding club is a starting out point for people new to the sport, events like this are for them to enjoy, win and celebrate and gain experience, not for people who are at the top of the sport to move back down and win all the spoils jut for a days trophy hunting! so come on take heed and give newcomers a chance!

I do agree with what you are saying although I think it should be recognised that many people, whilst qualifying for HOYS etc also support and sometimes help run, local shows as well. The standard of entries at local shows is consistently becoming higher and it has encouraged us 'small time' competitors to up our game which can only be good. When my daughter has done well in a riding club championship class and there are HOYS horses in there (we do cobs) we are delighted if we do well in that company

I was told there were a number of producers and produced ponies at the show. No idea whether that's true or not, as I only show at RC level and wouldn't recognise a producer if I bumped into one! While I don't have any problems with RC members competing their ponies at RC shows and championships, whatever level they've competed at with their ponies, I don't really believe professional producers should be competing at RC shows - and to have competed at UK Showing, they should have qualified at an RC show... (yes I know that's another can of worms )

There are plenty of people competing in qualifiers for Hoys/RI who do not and have not ever qualified for Hoys/RI In years past we have competed at UK Showing against m&m ridden ponies who have in that year already qualified for Olympia/Hoys etc .. it's just something that we accept because the Uk Showing runs OPEN shows without any restriction on the status of the rider/pony and by entering their classes you are accepting UK Showing rules .. if you want it changed, write to the show secretary/committee member
