Helen...the important thing to know about Mr Sutcliffe is that he will do exactly what he wants to on the day....therefore I would say that whilst there are definately ponies that are in with a good chance.....anything could happen.......

Even the supposed top/best ponies and riders in a class can get it wrong. I can't believe someone would not do a show on that basis, you can't really enjoy your showing. Agree with Maryh you have to be in it to win it!!!

I agree with Papahotchie. Russell Sutcliffe will be fair & judge what he see's on the day, it will need to go well & be a good type & representative of its breed. With respect both Heltondale Misty & Castle Hill Flash are beatable, you won't qualify watching from the ringside or looking on here for the results afterwards!!!!

I don't think he put the right pony at the top at the stallion show though. Nice but novice pony that won, and the pony in second did a fabulous show. Rider on first placed pony had to use her whip, while the second rider didn't appear to have to do anything. Beautifully schooled pony.

Maybe Mr Sutcliffe thought the first was a better example of the breed at the stallion show??

I was going to take my fell but have heard Flash or Misty will get it so whats the point. Why does everyone get this thing that certain ponies are invincible? A fell qualified at the spring festival if I’m not mistaken and I was told that at least one of the above mentioned ponies was there. Plus did he not qualify a section D last year? Who says it’s going to be a hairy? Take the blinkers off people go and compete you may be pleasantly surprised.

I never said these ponies were invinsible I know there not as they have been beaten all year but thats just what I heard.
He qualified a new forest the time before a D so who knows what section the champion will come from. I just said what people on the grape vine are saying and they normally turn out to be right.
All we can hope for is that the pony goes well and has good conformation.

I think that Mr Sutcliffe judges what happens on the day. I also think it's sometimes too easy to judge from outside the ring and really, you have to be in there to have a good look. I hope as many of you enter as possible to support these classes, after all you gotta be innit to winnit. From what I have seen, Russell is a knowledgeable guy and will pick the best pony he can to represent him and it's breed down there. What more can you ask?
Good luck to everyone!

He's also qualified the Maverick if my memory serves me right! The thing I like about Mr Sutcliff is that, in my experience, you can never say say he'll go for one particular breed! Last year everyone said he'd have a fell but it was two welshies champ and reserve!

Ive heard it will be Judge. I cant see how he can go for Judge if he put Solo through last year? both are very different types of cobs. I think solo is great, very trye to type, moves straight and is a great example of a cob. I watched the HOYS class at Puk South and Solo was the only cob I would have taken home.

Thats funny Judge has beaten Solo twice this year already, won 2 Olympias, 2nd at Windsor, qualified for HOYs, RIHS, Silver Medal, Barnett Balance all on the first attempt, so you never know. (Sorry Charlene - I love Solo too she is a lovely mare, its a pity our boy is a gelding they would of have lovely children ) I think you are all putting these ponies down by putting them up as you are worried about them and may try and influence RS, well I think you are all way off track as he has a lot more integrity than you give him credit for. I think it will be a great Olympia qualifier with some fantastic animals there, so everyone should go for it and have a good time, at the end of the day that is what it is all about.
